Andy Pettitte is back in every which way. The veteran left-hander delivered five scoreless innings and pitched the Yankees to a 4-2 win in his return from a broken ankle this afternoon. Pettitte left a runner stranded at third base three times and got through five innings despite a 75-pitch limit. The Yankees gave Pettitte an early lead with a three-run first inning — Robinson Cano’s RBI double was the big hit of the inning — and after Dave Robertson let the Blue Jays pull within a run in the eighth, Nick Swisher drove in an insurance run and Rafael Soriano closed out the victory.
