    Nice lineup.

    :)

  2. mick September 23rd, 2012 at 11:30 am

    2 SS’s today?

  3. Barry September 23rd, 2012 at 11:30 am

We have two shortstops. I guess one will be DH. Probably Jeter.

  4. mick September 23rd, 2012 at 11:33 am

Unfortunately when Jeter plays SS, Nunez prolly will not DH.
Hope that doesn’t mean Jones comes along for the ride.

  5. OsOWNtheEAST September 23rd, 2012 at 11:33 am

    The Yankees time is OVER.

The time of the Bird is upon us.

I will be here laughing in your faces when we take the division, you lose in the WC game, and we DOMINATE the East for years to come.

    Yankees suck!!!!!

    Go O’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. 86w183 September 23rd, 2012 at 11:33 am

    Hiroki — Can you go 9 ?? 10 ?? 14 ??

Could really use a blow out with Adama Warren throwing the final 3 innings.

Robertson and Soriano could use another day and Logan could use a day off. In fact, I wouldn’t even let Logan dress.

  7. 86w183 September 23rd, 2012 at 11:35 am

    OsOWNtheEAST —

Would you mind returning to your playpen?

One winning season in 15 years is hardly grounds for trash talking. It’s like Vanderbilt winning three straight and bath mouthing Alabama.

  8. jacksquat September 23rd, 2012 at 11:35 am

    Jeter is DH.

And despite yesterday, I’d still prefer Chavez at 1B and Swisher in RF. But I guess after yesterday Ibanez was going to be in there. 2 for 46 before yesterday though…

  9. 86w183 September 23rd, 2012 at 11:38 am

I’d still prefer Chavez at 1B and Swisher in RF.

    ************************************

Me too, especially with Nunez at short. Ibanez didn’t start yesterday and still hit 2 HR so that really shouldn’t matter.

Must be something hidden in the binder

I like it…..lets get the brooms out. Go Yankees ….Go Red Sox (thats painful to say)

  11. OsOWNtheEAST September 23rd, 2012 at 11:45 am

I’m not bad mouthing what the Yanks have accomplished since the mid 90′s… I’m just taking a realistic look at current times as well as looking a bit into the future. The O’s are young, hungry, and very talented… The Yanks are old as hell and and will be very saddled with awful contracts. The O’s the set up to be dominant for years. The yanks are destined for years of mediocrity.

  12. tucker September 23rd, 2012 at 11:48 am

Good lineup … Now it’s time for Hiro to spin a gem. Soriano and Robertson should be rested today.

jacksquat let’s get this out of the way right now. :) Are you going to draw and quarter me if I suggest the A’s pitcher is a good pitcher?

Here’s what I know about him from reading up. He actually started out the season in AA ball, made it to AAA, then was promoted to the majors at the end of June. He suffered a shoulder strain in August and was put on the 15-day DL. He got his first loss of the season during his most recent outing against the Tigers. He has a 6-1 record, a 2.45 ERA, and an 0.98 WHIP.

Does it mean the Yankees can’t go out and give him a whooping? Of course not. But it probably means that if they don’t, it isn’t necessarily because they have no offense.

Last time he faced the Yanks, he gave up 2 ER in 6 innings.

I expect them to win today but it may not be a blow out.

    - MUSINGS AFTER A HALLMARK GAME IN THE 2012 SEASON -

    (1) NO way Garcia is included on Any post season roster.

    (2) Ibanez in RF issa nightmare. If it’s Not hit right at ‘em, hold your breath.

    (3) Nova continues to play himself OFF the RD 1 Post Season roster. This guy is currently capable of starting more fires than Drew Barrymore.

    (4) Girardi needs to realize that when Nunez is in the lineup, Good things happen.

    (5) Best\most consistent job of Umping the plate I have seen inna while.

    (6) 1st Base Ump jobbed us again. These Umps are Anticipating what is gonna happen. Miss Cleo they aint. What happened to, “Call ‘em as I see ‘em”?

    (7) If the Yanks had activated Gardner, Mesa would Not have been pinch running in that situation. Forget the 40 Man Roster, and do what is best for This team. Make the move.

  15. dan l September 23rd, 2012 at 11:52 am

Chavez is a terrible first baseman. Ibanez is a terrible right fielder. Girardi is a moron putting a bad defensive team behind his best pitcher.

“I like it…..lets get the brooms out. Go Yankees ….Go Red Sox (thats painful to say)”

    Or said another way -

    DON’T GO O’S!

    DON’T GO O’S!

  17. tucker September 23rd, 2012 at 11:53 am

“The O’s are young, hungry, and very talented…”

The O’s are avoid young team w/ young studs like Machado and Adam Jones. But let’s see them repeat what they have accomplished so far this year.
Young teams have a way of being inconsistent from year to year (Look at he DBacks this year.)

And the laws of averages say that those 1-run games won’t always swing the O’s way.

  18. mick September 23rd, 2012 at 11:54 am

Gardner will be on the PS roster and Jones will not.

I still think the Pearce play saved the game.

  19. tucker September 23rd, 2012 at 11:56 am

    Edit:a good young team …

  20. OsOWNtheEAST September 23rd, 2012 at 11:57 am

Adam Jones is 10X better than any OF on the Yanks.

He is an absolute beast, thanks Seattle!!!

  21. mick September 23rd, 2012 at 11:57 am

Girardi is riding and rewarding the hot hand with Ibanez over Chavez, something he should do more often.

  22. tucker September 23rd, 2012 at 12:00 pm

And frankly, I like that the O’s have improved so much. This has been sort of a boring year from a Yanks’ perspective. Not much young blood (notwithstanding Phelps), ineffective offense, inconsistent pen (other than Soriano and at times Logan)

But this race with the O’s is downright exciting.

  23. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 23rd, 2012 at 12:03 pm

“(2) Ibanez in RF issa nightmare. If it’s Not hit right at ‘em, hold your breath.”

“Chavez is a terrible first baseman. Ibanez is a terrible right fielder. Girardi is a moron putting a bad defensive team behind his best pitcher.

I did not get to see the first 10 innings of yesterday’s game. (Boo! I fell asleep and didn’t get to tape the A’s rewind. :( :( ). Did Ibanez drop balls in yesterday’s game? And did Chavy make errors?

About today’s game – sometimes you have to rob Peter to pay Paul. (Maybe now some people can see why Montero could not ever have been kept to play DH.) Girardi apparently wants Ibanez’s bat in there because he’s started to swing a hot bat. The kid they’re facing doesn’t give up much. He needs the DH open for Jeter because you also need him in the lineup.

Exactly where is he supposed to put Ibanez if not in right? I’d rather see Ichiro in left as there’s more ground to cover.

Ibanez was one of the Yanks to get a hit off this kid last time they saw him.

  24. 86w183 September 23rd, 2012 at 12:04 pm

The Orioles are a good team having a flukey season of one-run and extra inning wins. I give them credit for those accomplishments, but a great team they are not.

The fact that they still have a negative run differential is proof of this.

Adam Jones is clearly better than any Yankee outfielder, but claiming 10 X better just makes you look like a middle schooler trying to make a point on the playground.

  25. 86w183 September 23rd, 2012 at 12:05 pm

By the way count me among those baseball fans that are really enjoying the seasons that Baltimore, Washington, Oakland and Cincinnati are having. It’s great for the game.

I just wish that Pittsburgh had not fallen with such a resounding thud.

  26. yankfan1 September 23rd, 2012 at 12:06 pm

    OsOWNtheEAST

be gone troll. What are you 10 years old?

i truly believe the Orioles are not that good of a team. Still baffles me how they are able to just keep winning. I don’t expect a repeat for next season. Their rotation is not that good, but. And I dont expect guys like Jim Johnson, O’day, and Stroup to replicate what they have done next year. Theyre not going to win 15 straight extra inning games. Just alot of magic surrounding that team. They dont have the young pitching talent the Rays have to compete in the future however. They can hit though, they’ll be like the Jays the next few years. They’ll be hovering at .500, in contention, but not really.

You can tell that the people complaining about lack of moderation haven’t been here very long. We have a lot less bickering going on than when Pete was here, and Pete moderated this forum. Pete cut down on some things but there was a lot of duking it out allowed when he was here. However, the O’s joker wouldn’t still be here if Pete were here. He absolutely did not tolerate trolls who showed up with the sole purpose of talking trash. He did always allow people from other teams who came here to talk baseball and did so intelligently.

  29. dan l September 23rd, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Trisha…Ibanez did make an error in RF but it was called a double. If Melvin managed that better the game never would have made extra innings. Friday night the the routine grounder to Nunez at SS never would have been a hit if Swisher was at first with a proper stretch.

  30. Bo knows September 23rd, 2012 at 12:22 pm

Unless Robbie show up for the end run, the Yankees are done like dinner. The middle of the lineup is just not producing. 183 SOs. Yoicks
