crazy lineup but i kinda like it…
Nice D.
I’ve got to believe that Teixeira isn’t coming back at all. This is taking quite a long time, and I believe it will be three weeks this weekend. I really miss him in the field and in the middle of the lineup.
We’re in a pennant race and the most expensive player on our team can’t force his way into the lineup. Who’d have thunk it two years ago? There is no way the guy can be anywhere close to 100 percent fit. Come to think of it, when was the last time he was actually healthy?
teixeiramark25 On my way into workout and rehab. Going to race Usain Bolt for a warmup. Then watch the #Yankees win this afternoon!
Let’s hope he’s not watching Yankees Classics.
This is getting ridiculous. A-Rod returns and DH’s a ton, or sits. This late in the season, Everbody should be playing Every day, until the Division is mathmatically won. Cashman had better come up with a legit 3B for 2013. A-Rod issa DH more than a 3B from this point forward.
All those lefties in a row must make Joe G break out in cold sweats.
A-Rod should really look himself in the mirror and think about retiring. It would save the Yankees a truckload of money and we’d be done with all of these DL trips.

hahahaha ya ok…overreact much?
So much for running the A line up out there every day…
Does Stewart see any time in the PS? Just a general question, not related to the line up.
The Yanks oughtta PAY A-Rod some sort of Huge severance to retire. Being MIA at this point of the season is embarassing. Can you imagine Paul O’Neill taking a day off in this situation???
Does Stewart see any time in the PS?
Let’s get their first please Shame. Never like to touch the money; it’s bad luck.

The line-up is just fine. ARod needs a full day off to get some rest and not think about
the game for a day.
Chavez at 3rd will work just fine.
Ibanez at DH is also a good move
Dickerson in LF is also a good move.
All that’s left is for C.C. to pitch a CG and get a win before moving to Toronto
maybe arod is hurting from the foul off his toe last night?
Can you imagine Paul O’Neill taking a day off in this situation???
Can you imagine Paul O’Neill going 0-4 every day when the heat is on?
arod fouled a ball off his foot and it was wraped last night, maybe they are being cautious and givin him a day to rest it,
we should be able to beat the twins w/cc on the mound without arod
“There.” My spelling is apauling today.

You can tell he put Stewart before Dickerson for some relief (because that is otherwise ridiculous).
intrigued by the ichiro leadoff move..
People need to RELAX. We are playing the TWINS… and have CC on the mound.
Arod took a foul ball off his foot, and he has been struggling as of late. Not only that… he is going to have to play on that brutal turf in Toranto for multiple days this weekend. All of those things add up to a day off. My god… we don’t have our ” A” lineup. Big whoop. Our ” A” lineup scored 3 runs last night. Today’s lineup is more than capable of putting up a crap load of runs.
?Former Cy Young closer Eric Gagne alleges in his new biography that 80 percent of his Los Angeles Dodgers teammates were using performance-enhancing drugs.”
Their are no easy wins in the major leagues. The Twins won last night and are quite capable of winning today. I don’t know how this lineup will do, but it looks like one of the worst lineups I have seen.
55 walks in 77 ip for Deduno. Yowza.
Oh, so we are getting a guarantee that A-Rod is gonna be in the lineup for the Entire Toronto series??? I seriously doubt it. The turf will be used as an excuse for the guy to duck out again. Jeet out there on 1 leg, and A-Rod MIA because he fouled a ball off his foot. I NOW agree with that old assessment of A-Rod NOT being a legit Yankee. He’s a hired gun, that has run outta bullets.
I don’t take a particular beef with the line up… you still have Tex out, want to ride Ibanez’s hot bat, and need someone that knows how to use a glove in the OF in his place. Fine.
But is Chris Stewart going to be catching CC in the playoffs? I guess Martin could use a day… but all of our players could probably use a day at this point in the season.
I want to see the A line up every day. Especially when we’re playing an early game and don’t have very far to travel for a night game tomorrow.
Also.. I dunno how much it was debated last night, but trying to get Nunez a PH at bat over Nix in that situation is how I would have handled it. Nix has been a great role player for this club, but his hacks last night were about what I expected.

It would be the height of irony if they pitched around Span today with a lefty on the mound lol…
Interesting about Gagne… and also very unsurprising. I just need MLB to protect me from ever finding out if Jeter used.
why would martin catch a day game after a night game?
baseball 101.
Shame – agree with your point about Gagne and I would add I need protection from ever finding out if Mo used also…
Is there really much difference having Chavez and Stewart in for A-Rod and Martin? If you go by the back of their baseball cards, then there’s a massive difference. If you go by current form, there is hardly any at all. That’s been the issue the entire second half of the season: too many black holes in the lineup.
Take a gander at how Sciscia has used Iannetta.
Arod has been horrible of late. People seem to not realize he is just a big name now. Why would you want someone to be in our lineup that is playing AWFUL? just because his name makes you feel like we have our ” A” lineup? Whatever floats your boat.
Shame- Pitching around people with CC on the mound… instantly reminds me of the first game of the season. I don’t think i will ever forget that moment. It was a sign of things to come for the season. LOL
OK guys, I’m headed over to the stadium… I think I am going to post here on my phone during the game today, that should be fun!
Go Twins!!!
Using the term “PED” takes in a lot of territory.
Erik Boland ?@eboland11
Arod said he hopes it won’t be something that keeps him out more than a day. no X-rays scheduled as of now
If 80% used they might as well shut down the HOF…

Glad to see this and not at all surprised. Hopefully more and more players will tell the truth and we will end the witch hunts against a select few players from the so-called steroid era, circa 1990-2004.
Remember the baseline testing caught 103 players and that was after several months advance warning. There’s little doubt that it was a very small percentage of players who were taking something.
Where is the other split squad team playing today?
Swish even mashed a ball off his foot a few days ago. He was in the lineup the following day, with some sort of shield over the top of his shoe. As Joe Louis would say, “You can run, but you can Not hide”. A-Rod is attempting to hide.
No reason to go into full blown panic mode and announce the game today will be lost
because ARod is out of the line-up.
Cano appeared tired the other night and he had 3 hits last night as the DH. Probably just what his mind and body needed.
Arod can use a full day off. Especially prior to the 4 games on Turf.
Not a big deal. Just because he’s been in a slump of late does not mean you can toss his bats in the bin and declare he is no longer a true Yankee.

I’m scratching my head a little.. I get Arod. Fine.
But is Dickerson even making the PS roster? I mean, sure, I’d like him in the OF over Jones/Ibanez as well…
“You can run, but you can Not hide”. A-Rod is attempting to hide.”
Or maybe his foot is really sore?
What is a true Yankee?
Who is pitching for the Twins? Is that why McGigidyGigidyGeeHee can’t play 1st or 3rd so Swish could be in the OF?
True Yankees?
Reggie?
Boggs?
Clemens?
Arod?
Damon?
vs.
Jeter, Mo, Posada, Andy, Matsui?
McGeeheehee is not a lhb.
dedunno is a righty.
2009 PS – equal true yankee, plus 2007 he carried the entire team
this true yankee nonsense is crap
for those that care, ESPN is reporting that the NFL ref lockout is over.
True Yankee is a state of mind decided by the fans.
I find it hard to call Arod a true Yankee when there are fans who are still booing him.
Meh.
What’s the difference, there really is no “A” line up.
That’s the real problem.
The Twins have another RP on the mound today.
Meaning, A. Jones will not be starting. Neither will any other bench player that hits
right handed.
Get a clue people.
Why are you complaining about the line-up?
“for those that care, ESPN is reporting that the NFL ref lockout is over.”
Maybe the MLB umps will strike next and we can replace them with robots!
Let’s stop looking at Arod thru rose colored glasses, he really has not been a factor since he returned to the line-up, below average pitchers make him look bad because he is a shell of what he used to be, as for the wishful thinking that he will retire, would you retire and leave all that money on the table? Arod is what he is and probably will be for the next five years, I would be more concerned with Girardi’s poor management decisions than weather Arod plays or not.
No reason to go into full blown panic mode and announce the game today will be lost
because ARod is out of the line-up.
Totally agree, WTP. If CC pitches like he did against Oakland on Friday night, we will win.
If CC pitches like he did against Tampa on his previous start, we will most likely lose, whether A-Rod is in the lineup or not.
“Interesting about Gagne… and also very unsurprising. I just need MLB to protect me from ever finding out if Jeter used.”
Don’t think you will ever have to worry about that. Jeter is clean. As far as Gagne’s allegations, 80 percent seems high to me. It could be an example of Gagne justifying his own decision to use by saying everyone else did it. Gagne was a clear roider. He was huge and hitting triple digits. I doubts 80 percent of his teammates used juice. Perhaps some used greenies or some sort of stimulant. But 80 percent on steroids? That seems high …
Now if you were to say 80 percent of any NFL team was on roids, that sounds about right.
“Can you imagine Paul O’Neill going 0-4 every day when the heat is on?”
Paul O’Neill had an 0 for in about 30% of the postseason games he played in so you don’t have to imagine it, you’ve seen it.
I gave A-Rod a lotta get-outta-jail-free cards due to his “09″ post season performance. Today, he use ‘em all up. Sore foot, whatever. He was out a long time with a broken hand, and garnered plenty of rest during that time. They gotta drag Jeet OFF the field. They gotta drag A-Rod ONTO the field.
Like I said, using the term “PED” takes in a lot of territory. To some, 6 cups of coffee is a PED.
arod will not be 100 percent healthy for his remaning baseball career so it is time to scrap this rotating dh idea and get a quality and legit 3b. Arod is basically a dh who will not hit like a stud dh anymore while jeter will need a full day rest now and then so the yankees should go for a legit stud 3b.
You can call a true Yankee one for carrying a team to one championship but not a beloved Yankee.
I love ARod, and I really hate it when the fans boo him.
He broke his hand and then battled back to help down the stretch. I’m sure we’re just giving him a day off after fouling the ball off his foot last night. I just hope he can show up this postseason.
DONNYBROOK September 26th, 2012 at 12:11 pm
I’m sorry, but ARod on vs Chavez on vs a RHP is okay.
But Jete off & Nunez or Nix on vs anyone else playing SS is not okay.
If Yankees fans that to direct unpleasant thought today, they should be directed
at Boone Logan after this pitching last night.
What’s with all the sliders Boone? Slider after slider. The biggest mistake was throwing another slider on the 3-2 pitch to Span. Grandy was over towards LC and Boone decides to throw a breaking ball, which can be pulled and that’s exactly what Span did.
Poor pitch selection.
I don’t mind the move to get him into the game because there were several lefties coming up to hit and Logan is supposed to be the guy that gets those lefty hitters out.
Sure Girardi had a choice to stay with Hughes, but that’s another story.
If the Yanks got a legit 3B like Headley, they could prolly get a taker if they pay 1/2-3/4 of his salary.

——————–
I have faith that even if he wasn’t he’d be one of the few players staunchly protected by MLB. I’d like to think it’s crazy talk to even consider it, but questioning it in this atmosphere isn’t the work of a cynic as much as a realist… its very, very sad.
As far as this: “Now if you were to say 80 percent of any NFL team was on roids, that sounds about right.”
I dunno tucker… I think all the major sports are fair game for those types of high estimations. Not everyone on roids is jacked up in the cartoonish sense we imagine. Cabrera, for example, didn’t look all that much more muscular to me than in the past.
Paul O’Neill had an 0 for in about 30% of the postseason games he played in so you don’t have to imagine it, you’ve seen it.
30%? That’s a lot better than A-Rod, who has had one good post-season in nine years as a Yankee. I make that around 12%.

Who is calling his pitches?? Can we blame that person too? It’s either Martin or Girardi.

A-Rod had an 0 for in about 35% of his postseason ABs.
Both have had their successes and struggles in the postseason.

I have no idea but Team Greedy is good with blaming ALL the people involved in those decisions.
Nobody is faulting any player for their performance. A-Rod needs to report for duty. THAT, is the complaint.

————————————————————————————————————–
How many occasions have we heard Cone and Leiter say the pitcher ultimately make the decision which pitch to throw.
So no matter who is calling the pitches, Logan has the option to defer and ask to throw
something else.
Obviously last night he was off, but I just feel like throwing all those sliders was a poor choice and maybe even lazy.
I understand Logan has pitched a lot this season and I’m sure he could benefit from 3 days rest, but putting him in the game last night was the right move.
Myth versus fact —-
Paul O’Neill post-season career…..
85 G —- .284 / .363 / .465 / .828 11 HR, 39 RBI
Alex Rodriguez post-season career….
68 G —- .277 / .386 / .498 / .884 13 HR, 41 RBI
How the hell do you know Alex didn’t “report for duty” ???
He wouldn’t be the first player to tell his manager he wanted to play and was told no.
“Myth versus fact —”
Come on man….dont ruin the narrative
Love Ichiro in leadoff and Dickerson getting a shot in the OF. He had a hell of a season in AAA. Any criticism of Girardi should start with Dickerson getting no chance to produce.
BP – meh.
If Joe was a BP genius at the All Star break, when did he lose his mind? I think the BP move was correct, Hughes suddenly hit a wall. Twenty five pitches on the bottom of the lineup, got a freeby SO. I would vote for Rapada because of Logan overuse
