Pettitte starting Game 2
Joe Girardi just announced that Andy Pettitte will start Game 2 in Baltimore, and Hiroki Kuroda will start Game 3 in New York.
UPDATE, 4:24 p.m.: Girardi would not announce a roster, but he did say that Jayson Nix is a definite possibility to be on the roster. If Nix is healthy enough to play, I have to think he’ll get that final spot over Andruw Jones. That lets Eduardo Nunez DH against lefties without the Yankees giving up their only utility infielder.
The Yankees won’t announce their roster until they have to turn it in tomorrow. Girardi said weather could play a role. He might change things if tomorrow’s game is rained out and they have to play five days in a row. In that case, I assume they would carry an extra pitcher.

Makes sense to me, but what do I know?
Makes sense to me, but what do I know?
jackamir,
Can’t compete with the sabr nerds, or the minor league mavens, or anybody, really. Just feel good about this year’s Yankees. Hey, I root for the laundry. Let’s go, Yanks!

Tom, you know a lot about baseball, and even maybe, more than me !
Trish, I’m not making any predictions, ’cause, I’m never right anysways
Compass, how is your son and,…Jimi!?
trisha,
Did I have to predict them all, or just the Yanks?
IF ANYONE WANTS TO PREDICT ON OAKLAND-DETROIT OR CINCY-SANFRAN
Predictions have to be in before the first pitch!

Tom, you have to predilick them – winner takes all!
jmills,
Just been watching it for a long. long time. Signing a player for a long term, yes, I’ll look at that stuff. 5 game series? Let’s go Yanks.
Trish,…. I have nada to contribute
tom –
Didn’t see your post but good question. You can predict as few or as many as you want.
The more you predict, the better chances of getting enough points to win the fantastic prize of Ritter Sports Bars!
jmillls – your presence is present enough!
John Ritter – decent guy by all accounts.

I have to do thanksgiving tomorrow with certain things I don’t want to be with on a day off – my solution,….give ‘em flowers! ( At least I get to see my #1, my daughter who chooses me, dad – lucky guy! )
yankfan1 – the more the merrier!
tomingeorgia – the reason I won’t take your LCS bets is twofold – it’s too confusing to take LCS bets at the same time as DS; and, in the very rare chance that you have any of the DS winners, incorrect, it would invalidate your choices for LCS and lessen your chances of getting those amazing candy bars!!!
*********************
I’ll check back between now and first pitch of Tigers-A’s game for any more predictions. That game gets shut down after first pitch but people can continue to predict on the others until first pitch of each game.
Yanks in 3

With Nixy back, Binder G can make Jonesy the RH bat and keep Nuney off the roster.
This is the best time of the year ! A few reasons to be excited..
Derek Jeter – at the tail end of his career has had a fantastic season, not only has he not slowed down at all he has arguably gotten better! Oh and how many hits does he have ?
Andy Pettitte – he once retired and it was sad to see him go. You just knew it wasnt the last we’d see of him and thankfully he changed his mind. True great Yankee and one of the best in the post season!
Ichiro Susuki – one of the best hitters in the game! The Ichiro in Seattle obviously was trudging along passionless. Since coming to the Yankees he’s been like Jeter.. best hitter in the game! Hopefully he gets his ring and comes back again next year.
Cano – though I am not the biggest fan what he has done lately is baffling. It started with Ichiro getting super hot and carried to Robbie.. watching his bat this hot is like watching a 9 year old master video game player on xbox. Unreal!
Feel free to add to the list..

I’m as big of a Jeter fan as there is, and he’s been great this yr. but it’s really not close to one of his best yrs. Take a look at his career stats. Had some monster yrs. Unless you’re grading on a curve because of his age….
Hey Lost, are you you or your son?
I’ll add Sabathia turning it around to that list
Sorry Trisha, I didn’t see my post and changed my Giants to win in 5.
I liked Andy in game 3 against Texas but against the Os I don’t see it mattering as much.
I’m guessing they liked Andy better on the road and liked giving Kuroda a little extra rest.

Blake, this WC thing sucks – compromise.
Kuroda has a 2.72 ERA at home; 4.23 on the road.

Blake, this WC thing sucks – compromise.
I would like it better if it were 2 of 3 and if the schedule were balance ….and given that the Yanks still had to wait 3 days to play it seems like they could do 2 of 3
Buck announced Jason Hammel as his game 1 starter
That Cano article linked earlier is great. Barbarisi has written some really good stuff this season. I’ll link it again for those that didn’t see it.

Cant wait for tomorrow!!! It better not rain!
Blake – get the Tigers back in here and be done with inter league. Winner take all.

He’s great thanks, playing and practicing as usual
and enjoying teaching guitar at the high school he just graduated from.
I feel a lot more comfortable w Andy on the road, particularly if the team loses Game 1.
“I liked Andy in game 3 against Texas but against the Os I don’t see it mattering as much.”
_____
Blake, exactly. Thinking the same.
There are a lot or problems in a 3 game wild card series.
They can’t schedule it immediately after the season, incase play-in games need to be played. If they do Friday-Sat-Sun, that means the home team would have 4 days off before they play… and the WC team would be scheduled to play 6 games in a row (and if there is a play-in game, they might play many many games consecutively entering the postseason, which needs to be ironed out with the Players Association)
And if there is a rainout in one of the 3 WC games, that screws up the entire postseason schedule.
The switching venues would also be interesting. Would it be the team with the better record gets the first 2 at home or 1 and 3 at home? If it’s the former, is it fair to have the team with the worse record get the clinching game in their building? If it’s the former, is it fair for, say, Baltimore, to fly to Texas for game 1, back to Baltimore for game 2, back to Texas for game 3, then back to New York to play the ALDS, all on consecutive days?
Lots of problems with 3 game WC games.
Compass, Hendrix was all about practice! It didn’t just all fall from the sky. Jimi, spent a long time on the blues road prior to being captured in England. He worked very hard.
I wanted Andy in game 2 for either team. Good choice Joe.
All we have to do is take 1 of 2 from the O’s at the Yards.
I think the rest will take care of itself.
Enjoy tonight’s games folks.
MTU! How art tho? This mascot is doing fine!
Mr. Mills-
I’m good. I like our matchup. Always glad when Texas is gone.
And yourself ? Discover any new cacti or succulents ?
MTU, hi! No new succulents, the rest of ‘em have to get their sorry as#es in, soon.
Tom,
You are a very positive poster, and common sense is your banner. And of course you know baseball
Jmills, how are you?
If you are always wrong, then don’t bet on the Yankees, LOL!
YF,
Glad you liked Cano’s article. Just shut my mouth
Hi jmv, had a lovely drive into the heart of Toronto today. The WRX did nicely, and I beat everything I wanted to
Trisha,
Yanks 4
A’s 5
Giants 5
Nats 4
I think the yanks are sweeping. They’ll have one blowout and 2 nail biters.
YF – Jimi did a knockin’ in his sleep – wonderful!
Just a quick hello and wishing us all good luck!
No predictions for the Yankees except if they “weather” the weather tomorrow, play consistently well, and pitch lights out from starter thru closer, no one will need any good luck charms!.
As for the other pretenders, watch out!
New post——->
No Smiley!
YT – its been an honour to talk to you this season.
jmills-
The honor is mine. Enjoy your company.
