Rodriguez batting fifth; Jeter at DH
Derek Jeter will go through full batting practice, and if he says he’s good to go, he’ll start at designated hitter tonight. Joe Girardi said it’s either DH or not starting at all for Jeter.
“He told me he was great,” Girardi said.
Derek Jeter DH
Ichiro Suzuki LF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Robinson Cano 2B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Nick Swisher RF
Russell Martin C
Curtis Granderson CF
Jayson Nix SS
RHP Phil Hughes

Jeter is the DH today!
I think I would have trusted Nunez at short just for his bat, but at least Nix is capable of laying down a bunt.
if you base it on series performance, martin should bat fifth. Hope granderson bunts if there is a shift.
Sounds good to me. There’s only so much lipstick you can put on a pig. Nix is capable of getting a big hit. Nunez can always come in as a defensive replacement.
I would have been tempted to sit Granderson to get Ibanez in the lineup. Let Ichiro play center and Ibanez in left
there’s no need to shift for Grandy anymore, other than Weiters shifting the ball from his mitt to his right hand
RhapsodyInBlue, condolences for your loss.

You really have a good sense of humor. I always find your posts enjoyable to read. You’ve got a gift my friend…
Just a quick pass:
My condolences to Joe for the loss of his father RIP.
About the lineup…. Well, it was to be expected… Nix in short and Jeter if he is able at DH… What I don’t like is Grandy on the lineup… I hope that shuts my mouth with a couple of dingers
Later
What is up fellas! Heard the shot that was heard around the world(doesnt sound right) on the radio driving home last night. So does this mean that our Ibanbino is going to PH for Jete tonight?
1.Who has a better stat line tonight Alex or Grandy? Line is at push.
2.Over/Under Homeruns allowed by Hughsey? 1
3.Innings pitched by Phl over under? 5.1
4.Replays of Ibanez homer replayed during game? 2
5.Announcers talking about Arods power outage and batting in the lineup? 5
6.Posters that say game is over and Yankees lost by the first inning? 3
7.Yankee runs tonight? 4
8. X Generation Trey is used tonight? 0
9. Camera on Mo? 2
10. X Ichiro goes Ninja? 1
Go Yankees!
Why is Giambi still batting fifth!
Sorry. Forgot what year i was in.
SoS,
Hello my man! I would say chances for whining in the first inning 100 per cent… Hughes throws a gem, no homers … Grandy shuts my mouth with a couple of hits, although I loved the new shift suggested by Hassey… Arod is going to have a good day… We take the series tonight and on to the ALCS
Every game that’s not at Yankee Stadium the fans are going nuts.. many reasons for that .. the price of tickets, different fans, not spoiled with rings, design of stadium etc.. but whatever the reason is, it’s embarrassing. If the stadium design prevents that, well thats a huge flaw. Then again these other stadiums are ballparks, not shopping malls with a ballpark in them designed to milk you of your last dollar.
Here an idea.. let’s put ballparks in all the major shopping malls in the USA!

Funny you say that, if you look at who’s numbers closely resemble Giambi it’s Tex. Remember when we couldn’t wait to rid ourselves of Giambi’s contract ? Well we just exteded it with Tex, cept Giambi has a much better OBP. Who wudda thought ?

im takin the over…..easiest money I ever made
what a game SF – CIN
except tex plays ten thousand times better defense
Sorry to hear of Girardi’s dad passing, he was ill for some time.
I like A-Rod 5th. I would sit Granderson, his bat is worthless in this line-up. I’d give others a shot to play, ie; Gardner in Rf, Ichiro in CF and Ibanez in RF. You could switch Gardnr & Ichiro.
I feel as if, after a very large sample, you are not doing the job, someone else gets a shot. Play those that are producing, not by what they’ve done far in the past.
What is up mi Venesolano hermano! Hope both Alex and Grandy shut your mouth. No offense, just business.
NYY Girl,
Maybe all those other fans and stadiums over react? Maybe us Yankee fans act like we’ve been there before. 16 of 17 years tends to do that with 6 titles under our belt. Its like watching bridesmades the part where they get the food poisoning. I busted a guy the first, second, fifth time watching that scene. Now I cant even get myself to fake laugh about it. Its all good. Just bring us #28 and we will make up for it in one night. We re for sure do.
NYYG,
I thought the same thing about Tex last year until I saw him start a double play and proceed in making a diving stop. Then I woke up from that nightmare. At worst, Tex is a gold glove first baseman.
Hope we all have a good night. Just in case you guys didnt get the memo. GO YANKEES!
Yay, Giants!
Giants come back from 0-2 down to eliminate the Reds. Giants win 6-4 as Sergio Romo fans Scott Rolen with the tying runs on in the 9th
I like the lineup….hope Granderson can do something
Not sure why they didn’t start Ibanez over Swisher tonight. Ibanez has much better career numbers vs. Saunders, Swisher is struggling and Raul deserves a start after last night.
I understand not playing him but I can do either way. Joe is looking at it like you want to keep Raul as a weapon and not tire him out playing a full game. Plus we keep the defense up in the OF in the beginning of the game and see what our bats do. We can always make a swap later. Lame that Jeter is hurt and has to DH. R.B.I.banez would’ve DH’d. No worries. R.B.I.banez will be in the game at some point.

Cause Swish is a switch hitter and Ibanez in general is bad against lefties…..plus Swisher is a better defender
P.S. I still hope the fire Girardi. Or the moves last night changed him from Chicken-Stuff to Manager-Joe.
Before today, Cincy did not lose 3 consecutive games at home during the reg season.

Really! After managing the team to the best record in the AL, despite a lot of major injuries, the big guns having an off season, you still don’t appreciate the job he does?
I guess the Red Sox fans would love to have Tino back. Sometimes you don’t appreciate what you have until its gone.
And this crap on today of all days.
