TIME/TV: 4:07 p.m., TBS

WEATHER: Temperatures back into the 60s today. It finally feels nice here again.

UMPIRES: HP Rob Drake, 1B Sam Holbrook, 2B Jeff Nelson, 3B Gary Cederstrom, LF Mike Winter, RF Jeff Kellogg

IT’S BEEN A WHILE: Today, the Yankees will do something they haven’t done since October 28, 1981 (Game 6 of the World Series) — play a postseason game without either Mariano Rivera or Derek Jeter on the roster.

EXTRA! EXTRA!: The Yankees have played three extra-inning games so far in the 2012 postseason with all three coming in their past four games. That?matches their most extra-inning games in a single postseason all time (also 1996, 2004 and 2009). They?had played three extra-inning games over their previous 31 postseason contests entering 2012. The Yankees have lost their last two extra-inning games at home. Priot to those losses, they had won 10 straight extra-inning postseason games at home dating back to 1999. They have now played six extra-inning games in their last 10 home games. They have played 46 combined innings over their last four days.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Today is Joe Girardi’s 48th birthday.

UPDATE ON DEREK JETER: CT scan and MRI confirmed an ankle fracture. He will see Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist in Charlotte, in the coming days. Jeter is currently in a splint and on crutches. He is not at Yankee Stadium and will not travel to Detroit.

UPDATE, 4:34 p.m.: Kuroda dealing through two innings. He’s struck out five of the six batters he’s faced.

UPDATE, 4:44 p.m.: Nix gives it a ride but it’s caught at the wall to end the bottom of the second with Swisher left at first.

UPDATE, 5:13 p.m.: Another strikeout for Rodriguez, another scoreless inning for the Yankees.

UPDATE, 5:22 p.m.: Terrific play by Cano keeps Kuroda perfect through five innings.

UPDATE, 5:29 p.m.: Another 1-2-3 inning for the Yankees. Really need Kuroda to keep this going. Can he?

UPDATE, 5:37 p.m.: Kuroda finally allows a hit, but he leaves the runner stranded to get through the sixth with the game still scoreless. He’s been oustanding. Just oustanding.

UPDATE, 6:24 p.m.: Nix goes down swinging to leave Granderson at second. It’s a 1-0 Tigers leave heading into the eighth and Kuroda is going back to the mound.

    GO HIROKI!!!

    GO YANKS!!!

And I think this is a great post to start with. It’s something Tar said.

“Totally agree Mac. And speaking of personal insults, I don’t get the name calling on players who give it their best, but just come up short. Swish didn’t do it on purpose, trust me he would rather be the hero.”

    I couldn’t agree more.

  2. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 4:03 pm

Well if Kuroda gives up one or two runs it could be game over. Look this offense couldn’t even score off of Fister who was falling behind every hitter and throwing bad pitches in the zone. They left the bases loaded 3 times and couldn’t even get one run in. Fister was laughing because he knew that even the pathetic Royals would have scored some runs off him based on his pitching last night. If this team can’t hit Fister then Verlander and Scherzer will tear them apart.

  3. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 4:04 pm

Hey trish. Gonna try to be positive.

  4. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:04 pm

Get ready to win this game, Yankee fans!!!

  5. luis October 14th, 2012 at 4:04 pm

    Go Yankees, Go Hiroki San!!!

  6. ricardo1020 October 14th, 2012 at 4:05 pm

Any truth to the rumor that A-Rod’s cousin paid a visit to the clubhouse this afternoon? Hope so.

  7. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:05 pm

BT – when you feel the urge to say uncomplimentary things about players sit on your hands. Or think about how you’d feel if someone was saying those things about you if you were giving your best and still falling short. You wouldn’t be garbage, worthy of death. You’d be a human being having a very bad time.

  8. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 4:06 pm

Swish didn’t do it on purpose but he didn’t open up and admit that he failed. He blamed the lights on a play that a minor league player could have made. His act is getting old fast and this should be his last year with this team.

  9. Dj October 14th, 2012 at 4:06 pm

    Go Yankees!!!

  10. yankeefeminista October 14th, 2012 at 4:07 pm

    Go Robi!!!

  11. tomingeorgia October 14th, 2012 at 4:07 pm

It might take baling wire, duct tape and WD-40, the entire
Southern toolkit, but the Yankees win this game.

    Go, boys!

  12. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:07 pm

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE GIRARDI!!! COME ON YANKS, GIVE YOUR SKIPPER THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT YOU POSSIBLY COULD. A WIN.

  16. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 4:08 pm

  22. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:10 pm

Wow, some booth sympathy for the Yanks.

  23. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Scherzer is hurt, he hasn’t been great. Win today, catch a miracle tuesday, and have CC going wednesday. That’s the wet dream scenario.

    Atta boy, Hiro!

  30. tomingeorgia October 14th, 2012 at 4:14 pm

Kuroda asks if there are any questions. It’s going to be a great ballgame today.

  31. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 4:15 pm

I hope the Yankees can win this game just like I hoped that they could pull it out last night, but I have little confidence in some of the players in the lineup.

  32. Tyler October 14th, 2012 at 4:15 pm

    Kuroda!

  33. luis October 14th, 2012 at 4:15 pm

Three days of rest it should say

  34. Tar October 14th, 2012 at 4:15 pm

    Nice inning Hiro.

Game started Im the biggest Swish, Nix fan in the world right now.

    Go Yankees!!!

  35. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:16 pm

I swear I’ve always liked Ichiro batting first rather than second.

  36. luis October 14th, 2012 at 4:17 pm

    Hey Tar!

Good to see you around…By the way, good posts

  37. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 4:17 pm

Come on Just string along some hits and not swing for the fences.

  38. luis October 14th, 2012 at 4:18 pm

Do you guys have audio? I don”t

  39. Tar October 14th, 2012 at 4:18 pm

    Hey Luis

    Robbie

  40. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 4:18 pm

    He is unreal. Literally unreal.

  41. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 4:19 pm

    Cano. Sigh. He’s killing them

  42. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:19 pm

    luis – you’re not missing anything…

  43. Tar October 14th, 2012 at 4:19 pm

    Luis

Are you watching TV? Yes I have audio for TBS

  44. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Oh don’t start kvetching this soon. You don’t know what’s around the corner.

BY THE WAY – Anibal Sanchez can be a great pitcher, but he also can fall apart quickly.

  45. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Don’t like Cano’s body language. Sulking after he hits the ground ball. He needs to snap out of it and look at the next at bat as an opportunity to snap out of it. He’s better than this.

  46. BobbyJones October 14th, 2012 at 4:20 pm

    0-23 jesus

  47. BBFan October 14th, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Whatever happened to Cano his at bats are horrible.
He lunges and pulls that ball meekly.
When he is going good he would drive it to the opposite field.

  48. yankeefeminista October 14th, 2012 at 4:20 pm

    Yeah, baby!!

  49. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Again I don’t like arod, then Granderson , then swisher…. In a row…. Got to break that up

  50. luis October 14th, 2012 at 4:20 pm

    Atta bot Tex!!

  51. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 4:21 pm

Cano just can’t get into a groove. He is swinging at anything in sight and everything is a ground ball to 2nd base.

  52. tomingeorgia October 14th, 2012 at 4:21 pm

THAT’S the way to beat the shift.

  53. Tar October 14th, 2012 at 4:21 pm

    Smoked it.

I just realized Tex runs like a fast version of Montero. :D

  54. syd_cash October 14th, 2012 at 4:21 pm

Tex is having a great post season got to give him credit as much as I have gripped on him in the past

  55. igotid88 October 14th, 2012 at 4:21 pm

    Cowboys missed GW FG attempt

  56. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 4:21 pm

Lets get a lead for once

  57. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:21 pm

You know how most people complained ENDLESSLY about Tex, he was done, yada yada yada. Well he finallly turned it around.

It can happen with the others too.

    Faith and patience.

  58. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 4:22 pm

Oops. Too many snap out of it’s. In any case Cano has to put the past behind him and just start focusing on having better ABs.

  59. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 4:22 pm

I would walk Ibanez with Martin on deck

  60. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 4:22 pm

Alright just get the run in.

  61. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 4:22 pm

    Sample size:

Cano is a 230 postseason hitter in 48 games. OBP an impressive 278.

  62. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:22 pm

“Don’t like Cano’s body language. Sulking after he hits the ground ball. He needs to snap out of it and look at the next at bat as an opportunity to snap out of it. He’s better than this.”

Whether he sulked or not, he busted it down the line! Whaddya want everything???

    ;)

  63. syd_cash October 14th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

i see that Girardi still has A-rod, Grandy, Swish back to back to back…..that should be fun to watch

  64. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

    Big spot for Russell

  65. luis October 14th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

Yup, I am watching TV…I guess is the TBS broadcast, but I am watching it in WAPA…Oh! I got the audio back.

    Tar,

:( Yup, Robbie roll over that pitch, instead of going oppo with it. Good at bat from Ibanez there

  66. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

Why aren’t going to pitch to Ibanez with Martin on deck. They know that Martin will swing for a homerun.

  67. J2L October 14th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

    No walk please…

  68. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

    Nice swing Martin

  69. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

    Hero swing but Russell

  70. luis October 14th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

Come on Russ!! No swings from the heels please!!

  71. Triple Short of a Cycle October 14th, 2012 at 4:24 pm

I tell you I’m shocked the Yanks didn’t score

  72. syd_cash October 14th, 2012 at 4:24 pm

see we even don’t get luck!

  73. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:24 pm

Don’t blame Martin for Sanchez’s play!

  74. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 4:24 pm

I just don’t understand how Cano could be so good prior to postseason and then just fall apart when it starts.

  75. tomingeorgia October 14th, 2012 at 4:24 pm

    Look what I found, dammit.

  76. I Am Winning October 14th, 2012 at 4:24 pm

Has anything, offensively, gone right for the Yankees this season?

  77. BobbyJones October 14th, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Can we get a break? everytime we get a hard hit ball with RISP someone makes a play….

  78. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Trisha, it was just that moment right after he made contact, he dropped his head in disgust. I mean I don’t blame him totally, he’s tired of struggling, but being down in the dumps about it isn’t gonna help. I hope he doesn’t let it carry over into his other at bats.

  79. BBFan October 14th, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Well, breaks are not going our way yet !!!
It will be only a matter time before it happens.

  80. luis October 14th, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Actually, that swing is exactly what he has to do. Tough luck

  81. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 4:25 pm

That was not that great of play. Soft chopper back to the pitcher that looked much tougher than it was

  82. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 4:25 pm

They are too aggressive and swinging at anything in sight. Martin was looking to hit the ball 700 feet once again instead of just looking to hit the ball up the middle.

  83. BobbyJones October 14th, 2012 at 4:25 pm

i just don’t understand how Cano could be so good prior to postseason and then just fall apart when it starts.
    ———–
    he has Swisher Syndrome

  84. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Just the same crap. Guy has trouble throwing strikes, Martin goes up and bails him out by swinging at trash.

  85. igotid88 October 14th, 2012 at 4:26 pm

    A-Rod could have done that

  86. TheStraw October 14th, 2012 at 4:26 pm

The Yanks have survived numerous setbacks and injuries this year and still seem to find a way to win. I for one would like to see some media types, as well as fans, focus on the perseverance of this team.

    As Yogi always said…..

  87. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 4:26 pm

    Bottom of second due up:
Rodriguez, Granderson, swisher…..sounds like runs to me

  88. jacksquat October 14th, 2012 at 4:26 pm

    jacksquat October 14th, 2012 at 2:10 pm
Not a lot you can do with the lineup if you are going to keep the same failing players in there, but I don’t see Ibanez getting much to hit unless it is a mistake.

  89. syd_cash October 14th, 2012 at 4:27 pm

Man I pray Kuroda pitches a perfect game….or at least a 5 hit complete game shut out on like 101 pitches….and go no pressure!

  90. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 4:27 pm

Cano is trying to do too much just like everyone else. When he grounds out I would like to see him run hard to 1st base instead of that jogging crap. His body language is terrible.

“I just don’t understand how Cano could be so good prior to postseason and then just fall apart when it starts.”

Just as teams go through ups and downs, so do players. And unfortunately, nobody rings a bell to say when a slump is over. However, as you will hear players and managers say all the time, sometimes all it takes is one hit to turn things around.

Patience is the best we have.

It really is sad that the most feared hitter on this team is over 40…. Says a lot for their struggles

  94. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 4:28 pm

Clutch, I don’t know what you were watching but Cano busted it down the line.

    Nasty stuff today by Kuroda…

  96. igotid88 October 14th, 2012 at 4:28 pm

  97. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 4:29 pm

I would love to hear what Kevin Long has to say about these at bats. Can’t he get these guys to calm down.

  98. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 4:29 pm

You would think Kevin Long and Girardi would tell some of these hitters to stop swinging for the fences and use some commonsense.

“You would think Kevin Long and Girardi would tell some of these hitters to stop swinging for the fences and use some commonsense.”

How do you know they haven’t? Wasn’t it Long who said they had to change their ways of doing things and start playing small ball a while back? Yes I think it was.

These hitters are swinging through and missing pitches which aren’t even small mistakes-they are enormous mistakes.

Breaking balls that hang. Pitches that leak back over the plate, that miss spots by several feet.

It’s mind boggling. It really is.

I definitely am not conceding the Verlander game.

  188. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 4:46 pm

It’s really amazing that 6 guys can all be struggling at once. Tex, Ibanez and Ichiro are the only guys who look good. Everyone else swings at anything their bat can reach. I have never seen a team lost so lost and swing through so many pitches. They strike out way too often.

  189. ricardo1020 October 14th, 2012 at 4:47 pm

Serious question…Is Arod just struggling as in bad timing, mechanics and broken hand issues. Or is it no bat speed and he is done? Hopefuly it’s not that he is done because you can’t leave a $30m a year player on the bench for the next 5 years.

If he’d let me, I’d kiss his feet and apologize for thinking he couldn’t handle the AL East.

This is the quality of pitching, rotation-wise, we thought we’d get from the first day of the season.

  211. CB October 14th, 2012 at 4:52 pm

Kuroda has been dropping his shoulder this inning. That’s not good. Hopefully it’s purely mechanical and not fatigue.

But what a bull dog he is. Comes back from down in the count and executes an unhittable pitch to strike out Avila.

And then makes short work of Infante with another K.

What an outstanding job. Let’s hope all of the K’s don’t shorten his outing.

I didn’t think he was thrown out EASILY.

  222. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 4:55 pm

I don’t like Ichiro bunting because he isn’t good at it and it wastes an at bat

  223. CB October 14th, 2012 at 4:55 pm

“Get 2 strikes on Granderson and throw an offspeed CU or curve and he can’t hit it, although this one looked like a slider.”

    YT,

The sad thing is that there’s really no reason for Granderson to do this. Alex, Martin, Teix from the left side, Ibanez, Swisher – all of them have to cheat and start early now due to either poor bat speed or a poor swing path.

But Granderson has so much bat speed. He just does’t use it efficiently. He doesn’t allow the ball to travel deep in the zone. Instead he just lunges at the ball.

That’s why he’s so bad at reading pitches and is so poor on off speed stuff.

  224. syd_cash October 14th, 2012 at 4:56 pm

  250. JM October 14th, 2012 at 5:05 pm

Actually according to my friend who has season tickets in the bleachers, the Creatures have kind of turned on Swish…I think it was the failed catch last night that did it

  251. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 5:06 pm

My guess is swisher realizes he blew the game last night and doesn’t want to appear to be clueless about that by yapping with fans like the palsy he is.

  252. ricardo1020 October 14th, 2012 at 5:06 pm

Swisher’s lucky this is not the crowd from the “Bronx Zoo” era.

  253. luis October 14th, 2012 at 5:06 pm

    Yes you can lose it

  254. Ys Guy October 14th, 2012 at 5:06 pm

Hey guys! Tickets were going for 20 bucks on stubhub so I’m @ the park again. This time I snuck info the lower deck & I’m in section 228!
    Let’s Go Yankees!!!!

  255. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:07 pm

Are they ever going to hit any of these pitches hung right over the plate? It’s unreal how many hanging pitches they have missed so far.

  256. yankeefeminista October 14th, 2012 at 5:08 pm

    Rauuuul

  257. syd_cash October 14th, 2012 at 5:08 pm

only good player on the team (well Tex and Ichiro too) but anyways good job turning an out into a hit

  258. luis October 14th, 2012 at 5:08 pm

Seeing eye hit…That’s why you don’t give extra outs…We are scoring in this inning

  259. ZMANINSJ October 14th, 2012 at 5:08 pm

Ibanez is everything. Can he teach hitting, because Kevin Long certainly can’t.

  260. Yankee Trader October 14th, 2012 at 5:08 pm

    YF-

I wonder why Jeter is going to an Orthopedist in North Carolina, unless one is trying some new non-surgical technique.

If you’d like to see how a surgeon fixates a distal tibia fracture I’m attaching a short video:

    http://www.dukehealth.org/orth.....-fractures

  261. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:08 pm

Ibanez should be batting 3rd. At least then it’s possible that Tex will drive him in. Martin should bunt.

  262. CB October 14th, 2012 at 5:09 pm

Detroit is such a poor defensive team. It’s one of their biggest weaknesses. But to take advantage of that you have to put the ball in play.

  263. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 5:09 pm

JM – I have season tickets there, the season ticket holders have always disliked swisher. The stubhub first yankee game crew is the cheering section he caters to.

  265. J2L October 14th, 2012 at 5:09 pm

  266. syd_cash October 14th, 2012 at 5:09 pm

c’mon Raul wtf is that………you are too slow to steal c’mon! Or if that’s a hit and run wtf is Martin doing!!

  267. I Am Winning October 14th, 2012 at 5:10 pm

Yet again the Yankees get a runner on, but all for nothing.

  268. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:10 pm

What in the world is Ibanez doing? That was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.

  269. CB October 14th, 2012 at 5:10 pm

Terrible decision making by Girardi. How in the world do you try a hit and run with Martin at the plate and Ibanez on base.

That’s just pure desperation – and not in a good way.

  270. Triple Short of a Cycle October 14th, 2012 at 5:10 pm

    Giants 7-3

  271. jacksquat October 14th, 2012 at 5:11 pm

  272. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 5:11 pm

  273. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 5:11 pm

Have the yankees executed a hit and run this season?

  274. luis October 14th, 2012 at 5:11 pm

Two things…I liked the play with Ibanez, but Martin has to make contact…Too long a swing for that

  275. ZMANINSJ October 14th, 2012 at 5:11 pm

Why not send Ibanez? That would have been a double play anyway. Girardi knows he has nothing to work with.

  276. ricardo1020 October 14th, 2012 at 5:12 pm

    They are desperate.

    As well they should be.

  277. yankeefeminista October 14th, 2012 at 5:12 pm

YT, thanks I’ll check it out later when I can focus.

Go Alex. Getting a hit here.

  278. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:12 pm

Ernie said it was a hit and run. If so that was stupid. You don’t put plays on like that with Ibanez running. The guys is old and slow plus Martin isn’t a good enough hitter for that.

  279. bruceb October 14th, 2012 at 5:12 pm

Better hope Grandy runs into one today…before Cabrera or Fielder do.

    The ghost of A-rod…again.

  293. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 5:14 pm

Hahahahaha, this effing team is ridiculous. I’ve watched them suck all year so my expectations were low coming into october, but this offense has somehow managed to take a meaningful step down from an already sht level.

  294. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:15 pm

A hit and run with Ichiro and Jeter is fine. But Girardi is out of his mind trying it with Martin and Ibanez. We know he is desperate but that is just stupid.

  295. Tyler October 14th, 2012 at 5:15 pm

I think Darling’s right on A-Rod’s swing. There’s no flow to it… I know he’s lost bat speed but he looks so mechanical up there. I wonder how much of that has to do with Long.

  296. NYY_Girl_Penny October 14th, 2012 at 5:16 pm

Im seriously getting ill watching these games.. Not exaggerating.

  297. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 5:16 pm

Triple – don’t worry, I lost my voice in the RF bleachers this week screaming at swisher and telling him to get the eff out of this uniform asap. He’s heard plenty.

  298. avirex34 October 14th, 2012 at 5:16 pm

Gruesome Foursome- Cano, Swish, Grandy, A-Rod

  299. cofuzz October 14th, 2012 at 5:16 pm

You really can’t have a much worse postseason than A-Rod has had.
And I’ve seen no signs that something good is in that body of his since early in game 2 of the ALDS.
He’s worse than bad right now.
I’d rather have Brandon Laird out there.

  300. RabidYankee October 14th, 2012 at 5:16 pm

Again AFRAUD has no business in this lineup! He’s a broken down shell of himself. He has no power and is completely useless at the plate.

It’s a brain dead move by Girardi to have him in the lineup!

    I’d rather have Kuroda bat.

And if AFraud had any decency he’d quit and void the rest of his bloated contract. He’s unfit to wear pinstripes!

  301. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:17 pm

The Yanks should just get swept in this series and let it end already. The at bats are absolutely putrid. Just swinging at anything in sight and a ton of strike outs. They can’t hit anyone right now no matter how many pitches they get to hit.

  304. luis October 14th, 2012 at 5:18 pm

  306. tomingeorgia October 14th, 2012 at 5:18 pm

  307. Ys Guy October 14th, 2012 at 5:18 pm

This lower deck crowd has nowhere near the energy of the upper deck section I was in Friday night.

  308. CB October 14th, 2012 at 5:18 pm

Alex is early on that first pitch slider that’s up in the zone and fouls it off.

Then Sanchez comes to his senses and wonders why did I even try throwing a slider to him? Why let him speed up his bat.

So then he goes to his fastball. Alex can’t catch up with the ball slightly elevated. And Sanchez then just starts going up in the zone.

Alex has to cheat and start so early that he has to commit very fast. He doesn’t have the time to read the “rise” on the ball and that it’s going to be high. So he’s left to try to check his swing and offer feebly at the ball.

Just emblematic of where he is.

  309. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 5:18 pm

Cofuzz – cano, and swisher are having worst postseasons than arod. So, its not that hard.

  324. Nick in SF October 14th, 2012 at 5:21 pm

Stepping aside from the sublime performance from Kuroda this far and that great play by Robbie:

“They could always cheat like the 2004 Sux and swig Jack Daniels!”

Unless you’re using the word “cheat” in a non-traditional way, this remains factually incorrect. Do you just say this as anti-Sox trash talk?

  325. Yankee Trader October 14th, 2012 at 5:22 pm

  326. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 5:22 pm

I’d even boo him after a HR and throw his ball back on the field.

  327. Tyler October 14th, 2012 at 5:22 pm

I actually didn’t mind the hit-and-run either. Not the two most ideals guys to do it with but did anybody really have confidence in A-Rod, Granderson, or Swisher knocking in Ibanez sometime that inning? It tried to make something happen at least…

  328. NYY_Girl_Penny October 14th, 2012 at 5:22 pm

Tell him Carlo .. Thx cant stand Swisher!

    Tyler,

I agree. He’s lost bat speed. But the depth of what’s going on here goes past that. He’s just lost. It’s as if he’s trying to figure out how to compensate for lost bat speed but those adjustments have added up to a mess that’s left him looking like a tin man up at the plate.

  330. jackamir October 14th, 2012 at 5:22 pm

  344. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 5:25 pm

  345. cofuzz October 14th, 2012 at 5:25 pm

    Carlo,
They’re all pretty bad and you left out Granderson, but I disagree that any of them are doing worse than A-Rod.
Cano is 2-28 with a BB, which is pretty horrible, but he has 4 RBI, so his two doubles were both productive.
Swisher is 4-24 with 3 BB.
ARod is 2-21 with 2 BB and 11 strikeouts.
    That’s the worst.

  376. Ys Guy October 14th, 2012 at 5:30 pm

There may or may not be such a thong as a clutch player, but there is definitely unclutch and swisher is the poster boy.

  377. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 5:31 pm

    There goes our perfect game.

You did a great job Hiroki. Its not your fault that your offense (minus Ichiro and Ibanez) lack the heart.

  378. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:31 pm

The big question is are the Yanks going to get another baserunner in this game? Forget about runs they are lucky to even reach base.

  379. CB October 14th, 2012 at 5:31 pm

Kuroda is pitching on short rest for the first time in his career.

And he is leaving his heart out on the mound.

And then you watch one hitter after another have completely non-competitive at bats. Inexcusable.

This is one of the best pitching staffs the Yanks have had over the past 12 years. Maybe the single best.

And just when that staff is assembled that bats just collapse.

  380. J2L October 14th, 2012 at 5:31 pm

Let hope the offense don’t stink up the pitching….

  381. Tyler October 14th, 2012 at 5:31 pm

    CB-

It would be like teaching an old dog new tricks but these guys just need to go back to just seeing it and hitting it. It just can’t be applied that easily unfortunately. Living in St. Louis, I’ve seen a lot of the Cardinals and I think I finally figured out how guys like Pete Kozma (.232 hitter in AAA) and Daniel Descalso (.227 hitter this year) come up huge in the postseason. They don’t think. They take free swings and react to the pitch thrown. The Yanks are so up tight right now and just look so slow. That’s why I’d play Nunez and line him up with Ichiro and Gardner. Just try to run the Tigers out of the park.

  382. ZMANINSJ October 14th, 2012 at 5:31 pm

Kuroda knows that if he gives up a run here, it’s over

    CB October 14th, 2012 at 5:25 pm
What an awful pitch Sanchez just executed to strike out Granderson. That was utterly abysmal. That pitch should have been hit 450 feet.

Change up floating high in the zone with no action on it.

    ===========================

The broadcast was talking about a pitchers duel…And I thought, this game should be 3 or 4 runs to 0, Sanchez has left plenty of mistake pitches up in the zone that a semi-competent offense would have taken advantage of… It is no coincidence that most pitchers we face look like Koufax this days

  384. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 5:32 pm

Again, a pitcher costs us an out. Wouldve been a double play

  385. igotid88 October 14th, 2012 at 5:32 pm

Kuroda should had let that go

  386. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:32 pm

  387. BobbyJones October 14th, 2012 at 5:33 pm

Now tigers would show the yankees how to hit with RISP

  388. cofuzz October 14th, 2012 at 5:33 pm

Look y’all, as poorly as they’ve hit, and even without their heart out there at SS any more, I think the frustration I’m reading here comes from the fact that the Yankees are still hanging in there and making us still care.
They’re just a 3-player hot streak away from running off some wins.
Just like our hitters at the plate, we need to turn negative thoughts into positive ones.
Believe they can succeed or give up.
    I choose to believe!

  389. 86w183 October 14th, 2012 at 5:33 pm

The last time the Yankees offense was this bad (1967)Horace Clarke was the leading regular hitting a robust .272 and only The Mick (22) hit 15 or more HR.

This is just plain awful. It’s painful because you know they guys are trying and they care about their results but it’s almost hopeless.

  390. jacksquat October 14th, 2012 at 5:34 pm

It’s very hard to not react and go for the ball.

  391. Dill Pickler October 14th, 2012 at 5:34 pm

At this point, you have to sit ARod, Granderson and Swisher. It is beyond embarrassing. I, myself, am past even being disgusted by their performances (and that’s saying a lot) and am just embarrassed for them. They are clearly choking and incapable of producing. A 5-year-old girl could strike them out. They don’t belong in a major league lineup right now. Get Nunez and Gardner in there. And in the offseason, just get rid of them. I don’t care if you have to drive them to the dump yourself, Cashman, and leave them in a pile of rotting garbage. Just do it!

  392. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 5:34 pm

What sucks is that Hal & Co. will be satisfied that the Yankees made it to the ALCS, and there will be minimal changes in the offseason. When in reality they got extremely lucky to face a weak ass Baltimore team in the ALDS that had no business being in the playoffs in the first place. Could barely beat them anyhow. The truth is the entire league was down this year and the Yanks were very fortunate to have even made it this far. This might be one of the worst offenses that has ever made this far in the playoffs. And considering the trajectory of the team and the age of the roster, it’s going to get worse going forward in 2013. They could easily miss the playoffs altogether next year. I really hope they shake things up this offseason with some trades & a couple signings. Team is heading in the wrong direction.

    WAKE UP OFFENSE

This is the worst stretch of offense I have ever witnessed in my 38 yrs of being a Yankee fan. I am totally disgusted with this team. Pitching has been awesome, but how do you explain a whole lineup other than Jeter, Tex and Ichiro playing like crap?? I couldn’t been any more mad at this. You play a whole season just to come to this point. Flailing and folding like a bunch of babies out there. Yankee fans don’t deserve this and paying fans at the Stadium don’t either. I love them, but Cashman and Hal are destroying the future of this team. Kevin Long hopefully is gone to. His philosophy is junk!

  411. Dill Pickler October 14th, 2012 at 5:40 pm

The thing is, NYY fan, why is anyone surprised at this? Cano, ARod, Swisher and Granderson have basically been choking in postseason for years. And they choked all year with RISP. Cano hit .313 with 33 homers and wouldn’t have even reached 90 rbis if not for a 6 ribbie performance in the 162nd game. This was entirely predictable and predicted by many of us, but I don’t think even those of us who foresaw the choking could have known they would be this bad. This is embarrassing. I actually feel bad for these guys, who are making many millions of dollars precisely to perform in situations like this.

  412. CB October 14th, 2012 at 5:40 pm

    Luis,

Of all of the recent Cy Young hurlers that have shut down the Yanks – Sanchez today has made amongst the most mistakes.

He is not throwing well. So many mistakes from him.

It’s just that the Yankees are truly awful right now. Sanchez today has been worse than Joe Saunders was.

For years the Yanks couldn’t build a staff. The offense was why they were successful. And as they kept chasing the unicorn of pitching the offense progressively aged and the team never was able to sufficiently replace the balanced production they got. And management just watched them age while tightening spending to maximize operating margins.

It started going wrong when they passed on Matt Holliday.

  413. Ys Guy October 14th, 2012 at 5:40 pm

It sounds like being a sore loser against a guy with 6 shutout innings but I really don’t think Sanchez has been good today. Lots of mistakes that they just aren’t punishing. Actually not even getting contact on, forget punishing.

  500. bruceb October 14th, 2012 at 5:54 pm

And here’s where the game – and the series – ends. Can’t see Tigers messing up like we did.

  501. syd_cash October 14th, 2012 at 5:54 pm

don’t know why the Yanks starters can keep it scores until late in the game (why I am criticizing their amazingness I don’t know) Just the general feeling of agony when Detriot plates a run so its critical to try to keep it scoreless

  502. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 5:54 pm

    “Ballgame”

    Not ’til the final out.

Though this is breaking my heart for Kuroda.

  503. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 5:54 pm

Well, that should do it. Been fun guys, sweet performance. BLOW THIS EFFING TEAM UP

  504. ac1 October 14th, 2012 at 5:55 pm

asking kuroda to live on giving up 1 hit was definitely not going to be a recipe for success.
he has done more than we could have hoped and again our ‘offense’ has let us down so far.

  505. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 5:55 pm

The Yanks are lucky if they get out of this inning at only 1 run.

  506. Ken Phelps October 14th, 2012 at 5:55 pm

Seriously if cano goes like 2-40 in the post season…do we really give him a 8 year or 10 year deal like a rod has???

    Puedes, Hiro.

  508. Tyler October 14th, 2012 at 5:56 pm

Ernie Johnson is another Joe Buck. His father got him to where he is with TBS. He never did anything on merit.

  509. CB October 14th, 2012 at 5:56 pm

Whatever happens Kuroda has given the Yanks everything they could hope for and more.

He’s on short rest and was tired at the end of the season. He was always going to reach a physical limit in this game. And he surpassed what could be reasonably expected.

  510. Triple Short of a Cycle October 14th, 2012 at 5:56 pm

  518. luis October 14th, 2012 at 5:58 pm

    Trisha,

This is what I meant by balance wins…We have the best pitching we’ve had in a decade, and it has delivered…But it has no margin for error….You need offense as much as you need pitching

  519. Tyler October 14th, 2012 at 5:58 pm

This is a tough situation. Just try to hold it to 1 run and pray that Ichiro, Tex, or Ibanez gets a chance to tie it up.

  520. J2L October 14th, 2012 at 5:58 pm

    Yank offense should take notes

  521. Nick in SF October 14th, 2012 at 5:59 pm

“The other massive strategic mistake Yankee’s management made was not understanding that baseball was changing phases and going back to an era of relative low run scoring environments.

Not understanding that was crippling. They missed out on their best opportunities to develop competitive advantage.”

CB, “crippling” seems awfully hyperbolic. Do you mean crippling for 2012? For the future? I’m probably just not understanding your point, but how were the Yankees crippled this year, postseason struggles notwithstanding? It’s still about putting up more runs than the other team and they did that 95 times this year. What am I missing?

  522. BobbyJones October 14th, 2012 at 5:59 pm

It’s going to take 2 or 3 years to rebuild and maybe 1 or 2 bad seasons to improve our drafting position…They had a golden opportunity to get ahead and they didn’t…It may be Hyperbole, but to me it is pretty crippling having the most powerful franchise in that position while it could have been a long stretch period of dominance instead.

  613. CB October 14th, 2012 at 6:13 pm

    Nick,

I meant “crippling” with respect to the intermediate future though you can see the cracks starting now. Runs are at a premium across the game. And the Yankees could have set themselves up really well for competing in that kind of era if they’d seen it. The opportunity cost of not doing so will be significant especially if the cracks in the foundation we’re starting to see can’t be patched over.

It’s not the kind of thing that can be easily changed in a single off season. Had to be worked on over a few years. Difficult to do now.

  614. ricardo1020 October 14th, 2012 at 6:13 pm

    Granderson walked!!!!

  635. ZMANINSJ October 14th, 2012 at 6:16 pm

How do you walk Granderson? That’s cause for removal from the game.

A dominant offensive play! Grandy walks.

  639. ricardo1020 October 14th, 2012 at 6:16 pm

Grandy’s mantra should be “just don’t swing”.

  640. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 6:16 pm

  642. igotid88 October 14th, 2012 at 6:16 pm

Hopefully Nick will hit one out for a change.

  654. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 6:18 pm

How could Swisher possibly guess he would get an off speed pitch?

  670. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 6:19 pm

    Swisher lol. What a disgrace.

I would take Gardner with one healthy arm over this guy any day. Is it the playoffs? Then Nick Swisher will be worthless. Book it. It’s not changing. Not this year anyway. What a waste of space.

How the hell can Girardi justify playing this guy at this point? I mean seriously?

  708. YankeesFanMan October 14th, 2012 at 6:27 pm

Gotta feel bad for the pitching staff of this team. They are giving an effort like they want to win the WS but the offense and even defense isn’t helping them at all. Great seasons by CC and Kuorda, sadly wasted.

  709. sunny615 October 14th, 2012 at 6:27 pm

It’s really hard to believe this team won the division and beat the O’s in the LDS. Their effort is totally pathetic.

    I mean Antrel

  712. Tyler October 14th, 2012 at 6:27 pm

I really think it’s a lack of ability at this point. There’s no reason for Fister and Sanchez to throw 13.1 scoreless innings. They are average pitchers at best.

  713. ricardo1020 October 14th, 2012 at 6:27 pm

Ernie Johnson: Sanchez has been brilliant! (Just like every pitcher that has faced this lineup in the postseason). Coincidence?

  714. austinmac October 14th, 2012 at 6:28 pm

It is hard to think of anyone I want up in a key situation other than Ibanez. The Tigers will absolutely not let him beat them. That’s a problem.

  715. cofuzz October 14th, 2012 at 6:28 pm

Sanchez really dialed it up for that 2-2 fastball.
First >91mph pitch all game and it was 95.
I was hoping that was all he had, but he got the next one by Nix.

As Bernie Williams said during the ALDS, “Hitting is contagious.”
It works in the reverse as well, obviously.

Hiroki, you’ve done as much and more than we could’ve possibly asked. Thank you.
I wish the bats could’ve returned the favor.

  716. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 6:28 pm

I think Kuroda is done for tonight. It’s time to go to the bullpen. Girardi is going too long with him.

    They are so bad :(

  723. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 6:30 pm

I still can’t believe that Sanchez threw 7 shut out innings. Only a terrible offense can make him look that good. He is an average at best pitcher.

  724. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 6:31 pm

I would love to see Kuroda and Andy return. And to the people who say why would they, I can’t say I don’t understand the question.

    ***************

I am extremely insignificant in terms of things large and small. I’m aware of that. But I still want to make my pleas known. Can we please score in the 8th and let us have a lead going into the 9th? I don’t think I ask for a lot of favors but I am so asking for this one.

Thank you in advance, heavenly forces.

  756. lil m October 14th, 2012 at 6:37 pm

Legitimately bad call – the arrogance of the umps is such that they won’t review it, but what else is new. Score some runs and you won’t be at the mercy of these stiffs.

  757. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 6:37 pm

The Yanks aren’t getting any calls in the post season so far. The other teams gets a giant strike zone and the umps have missed 2 calls on the bases yesterday and today. It’s unreal how bad these guys are.

  758. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 6:37 pm

Kuroda got out of the 8th. Except he didn’t.

    Lousy bast*ard umpire.

Were all of the Yankee players Charles Manson accomplices in another life? I don’t understand how this is happening, how any benefit of any call, the Tigers are getting.

  782. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 6:40 pm

That’ll do it for this game.

Umps cost us 1 run yesterday, and 1 run today.

And Avisail Garcia, a complete loser, drove in a run yesterday and today. He fights the ball off to right field.

When Garcia succeeds, you know it’s over.

  783. Dill Pickler October 14th, 2012 at 6:40 pm

How does that ump even have a job? If you can’t make a call that you’re right on top of and is clear as day, you need to go sell shoes for a living. Just pathetic.

And Girardi needed to get tossed on that pos call. Show some emotion, Binder Joe!

  784. JM October 14th, 2012 at 6:41 pm

    Figures

  785. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 6:41 pm

I mean it’s BOONE LOGAN. Who cares if you waste him after not facing anyone? As soon as Leyland countered with the righty, Girardi should have countered back. No big deal at all wasting Logan

  786. Chambliss October 14th, 2012 at 6:41 pm

The umps are not losing this series for the Yankees but they are making it difficult to win. Throw in a blooper and there you have it.

  787. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 6:41 pm

Garcia reminds me of Montero. Too bad we traded him for a broken down pitcher. We could sure use him to pinch hit in this game.

  788. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 6:41 pm

Do these aholes review their calls later? Do they even give a crap about whether they get them right or wrong?

  789. willwill October 14th, 2012 at 6:41 pm

  791. CB October 14th, 2012 at 6:41 pm

Don’t understand bringing in Logan again to face a RH hitter.

Girardi has used his lesser relief options with the outcome on the line in two playoff games in a row.

  792. I Am Winning October 14th, 2012 at 6:41 pm

I still don’t see why people loved Logan in the regular season, or anyone other than Robertson and Soriano for that matter. Other than those two, the bullpens ERA is much higher than many MLB pitchers who pitch 200+ innings.

  793. ricardo1020 October 14th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

After game Joe: “Booney’s been doing it for us all year”.

  794. Dill Pickler October 14th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

“And Girardi leaves him in even after the righty pinch hits. Gotta love it. ”

Once you bring in a relieve, he has to throw at least one pitch. Can’t just take him out when they pinch-hit.

  795. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

If the umpire got it right, Logan wouldn’t have been in the game.

  796. austinmac October 14th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

  797. Don Vito A. Bellamo October 14th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

he was clearly out, then the crap hit to move the lead to 2….What is our BA in any inning but the 9th in the postseason anyway….like .040 ? It is not our year, plain and simple. Good Night, All ! :-(

  799. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

  800. NYY_Girl_Penny October 14th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

yeah bad call by ump but c’mon people our bats are the problem.. they are not a WS team and if some how they pulled it off (which is not happening) they wouldn’t deserve it.

  801. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

It has been a great season everyone. It will be a miracle if this series comes back to the stadium. Just awful that this team cannot any heart or smarts with the captain going down yesterday.

First guy to go should be Kevin Long. He has to take responsibility for the terrible approach that the Yankees took at the plate.

    Playable ball…No need to jump

  816. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 6:44 pm

Girardi knew that they were going to bring in a righty to face Logan so why even bring him in?? Girardi gets out managed by better managers all the time. His obsession with Logan really hurts the team. He isn’t even a good pitcher and Girardi uses him all the time.

  817. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 6:44 pm

Swish!!! It’s a groin grabbing good time watching Swish. Shouldve been caught.

  818. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 14th, 2012 at 6:45 pm

Look, Girardi’s father died. He’s had to wait more than a week to bury him. He’s trying to run a team through his grief. I doubt anyone here could be doing much better under the circumstances. So how about showing you have a heart and soul for once and dropping the Girardi trashing.

  819. CB October 14th, 2012 at 6:45 pm

With Cabrera on deck the Yanks were going to need to bring in a RH pitcher anyway. It was clear Leyland would pinch hit if Logan came in.

If Joba was healthy enough to throw to Cabrera he should have been in the game.

  820. raymagnetic October 14th, 2012 at 6:45 pm

Carlo, stfu. People can vent how they want.

  821. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 6:45 pm

Dill, if that’s right, didn’t know that. Rule should be changed and doesn’t make any sense. Logan should simply have not been used at all then. Girardi has a horrible habit of not using his best relievers in high leverage situations. Shouldn’t matter if you’re down by a run or up by a run. Still high leverage as the game is very within reach.

  822. Boss Tony N October 14th, 2012 at 6:45 pm

We scored 4 runs yesterday in 9 innings. We scored a 5th but had it taken away by umpires. So yes, it is the umpires fault that we lost.

  823. Chambliss October 14th, 2012 at 6:45 pm

Putting Joba in, in a position to fail. The job of managers /sarcasm

  837. lil m October 14th, 2012 at 6:46 pm

That’s the death blow. The sad part is that the Yankees put themselves in a position where giving up 2 runs is a killer. In no way does it excuse the umps, but this wouldn’t be quite as catastrophic had the Yankees driven in 3 or 4 of the baserunners they stranded. Regarding the umpires, Bud must be okay with bad calls and unwillingness to review them. If he though it was a problem, MLB would do something about it.

  838. I Am Winning October 14th, 2012 at 6:47 pm

I hope the Yankees play a lot more than just two more games this season.

Pretty disappointing feeling right now. For the Yankees to win this game and the series is a VERY tall order they just don’t seem up to the task to do.

Apparently our best relievers can’t pitch more than one day in a row now, even with the following day off.

    Girardi is f’ing stupid.

And that ump needs to be investigated.

  845. 86w183 October 14th, 2012 at 6:47 pm

  854. theREALkevin October 14th, 2012 at 6:49 pm

Swisher LOL this is just getting comical. He is a walking disaster.

100% after the season Swisher should walk and Girardi should be fired. Joe has simply melted down this series. His decision to continue to play Nick Swisher is absolutely ludicrous. It is unjustifiable in every way. I have never seen a player cost his teams more runs with offense and defense in a single playoffs than Nick Swisher has this season. Humiliating.

You think O’Neill or Brosius would have ever spouted garbage like that? those teams expected to be that good.

  895. TheStraw October 14th, 2012 at 6:56 pm

This team has had major holes, but they have been a resilient team all season. However, it’s too much to ask when you have to play five days in a row, including two afternoon games following night games. That’s the reward for the best record in Selig-world. MLB is an absolute joke, and these inept umps certainly don’t add to people’s opinion of their administration of baseball.

However, it’s too much to ask when you have to play five days in a row, including two afternoon games following night games. That’s the reward for the best record in Selig-world. MLB is an absolute joke, and these inept umps certainly don’t add to people’s opinion of their administration of baseball.”

Please, please stop blaming Girardi for this debacle. He can’t hit for them, can he? All he’s trying to do is keep it close to give them their 100th opportunity.

Keeping it close is bringing in Robertson in the 8th down only by one run. Pitched one inning yesterday and zero the day before, so that overused crap does not apply. Same for Soriano.

And for that matter, Detroit and their 87 wins were rewarded by knowing that they would be at home for the first two games of their playoffs, and then got an off day when the Yankees got none because of poor scheduling. This whole postseason should have av asterisk next to it.

  947. Carlo October 14th, 2012 at 7:06 pm

The absolute best, the highlight of my day was that Cano stat.

In a 100+ year old game, he has broken a post season record for futility. But wait, it gets better, he isn’t even without question the worst player on the team this october. So, we have a historically horrible player, and we have a few guys who could actually be argued to easily be worse than Cano.

  948. Georgia_in_MS October 14th, 2012 at 7:06 pm

This team is neither gutless, nor heartless, nor soulless. This team is totally blown out from having to make silk purses out of sows ears this season, trying to overcome injuries to its most prominent players, etc, not to mention to three of its most important pitchers. And I don’t give a rat’s ass about the “every team has to overcome injuries” mantra. Not every team has had injuries to the kind of impact players that we did. And if they did, they ended up in last place.

Girardi still hasn’t figured that out yet. Good managers have continued to out manage him in the post season year after year.

Penny, if it was a one-run game and we won by one run, it would still have been a win. I’m not thrilled with the lack of scoring, believe me, but when you see the calls behind the plate and that horrid strike zone and then you see what happened in the 7th, it’s enough to take the wind out of anyone’s sails.

Last night we went into the 9th down 4-0. Most people would have said what you are saying right now, but we came back. It’s not the optimal way to do it. I don’t like it. But I like even less the umpires controlling our fate with abysmal calls.

  1008. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 7:20 pm

The Tigers bullpen is terrible and of course the Yanks can’t do anything against them. This is beyond frustrating to see the offense be this bad against such average pitching.

True but we know in some cases the fans take it harder than the players. They have to have a short memory even though we know a lot of them don’t

  1012. Jeremy October 14th, 2012 at 7:21 pm

A-rod might have been a great player but he stinks overall in the postseason and anytime the pressure is on. 2009 was the exception and part of the 2004 playoffs as well. Cano is a good player but he is not the sharpest hitter and his approach is a joke. Swisher, Granderson, Martin…. Don’t need to say anything about those clowns.

  1013. Captain Clutch October 14th, 2012 at 7:21 pm

2013 Yanks if they went as homegrown as possible (having fun time):

C – Cervelli (Martin let go)
    1B – Teixiera
    2B – Cano
    3B – Nunez (Rodriguez traded)
    SS – Jeter
LF – Melky Cabrera re-signed (Suzuki let go)
    CF – Gardner (Granderson traded)
RF – Juan Rivera re-signed (Swisher let go)
DH – Alfonso Soriano traded for (Ibanez let go)

Backup C – Dioner Navarro re-signed (Stewart let go)
Backup 2B/SS – Ramiro Pena (Nix let go)
    Backup 1B/3B – Chavez re-signed
Backup OF – Melky Mesa (Jones and Dickerson let go)

Only two non-homegrown players (Teixiera and Chavez.)

Girardi – very eloquent on the need for replay.

  1066. MaxyC October 14th, 2012 at 7:36 pm

And of course the bum Girardi starts his press conference by blaming the umps, while overlooking the fact that this high priced lineup can’t produce one measly run and has to constantly lean on a 40 year old bench player to hit homeruns in the ninth to bail their a**es out.

  1067. MaxyC October 14th, 2012 at 7:38 pm

I don’t care about the replay system. Ask him why in the hell this lineup is absolutely impotent!

  1068. lil m October 14th, 2012 at 7:41 pm

Done. Hard to see them not getting swept. As we’ve now seen, even a shutout wouldn’t be enough for them to score a single run. The few remaining players who hit (Ichiro, Ibanez, Tex) can’t make up for the rest. You know it’s bad when Girardi is saying in his postgame press conference that his hitters haven’t made adjustments.

  1069. igotid88 October 14th, 2012 at 8:07 pm

Finally it goes through the infield for A-Rod

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

If you are doing this for a hobby I would definitely go with Google blogger.com. They are really great and later on you can export the whole blog into a serious website later.. I do not like the free blog at WordPress.com as they have restrictions on what content you can put on there. They are very strict on advertising and other stuff.. . If you want to make a blogging business, for example building websites to earn money online, I would suggest you buy Web hosting and install WordPress. This is not the same as the free WordPress I mentioned above as you can do what ever you want with it.. . I teach people how to build their own WordPress website and make money online from it. Years ago I started out doing this as a hobby so you never know what will happen.

  1198. tramadol online September 3rd, 2014 at 10:39 am

For what it’s worth, I think that the stigma is just that.. . I’ve been taking oxycodone for a quite a long time due to very severe chronic pain, and I’ve had no problems with the drug whatsoever. I’m sure that were I to stop taking it suddenly my body would go through symptoms of withdrawal, but addiction is not the problem that people (especially on here) would have you believe. You are taking it for post-operative pain – i.e. short term – and under close medical supervision, so the chance of you having problems with it are minimal. Really – the only big risk is that you’ll feel a bit nauseous and a bit drowsy.. . If you’re in so much pain that you’re struggling to function, I’d be taking the percocet. If you take tylenol first and find that it’s not working, I think you would need to be very careful following it up with percocet as both contain paracetamol, which can cause liver damage in high doses (I’m not sure of the amounts in each tablet type- we don’t have either brand here in Australia). Of course the number one rule is – talk to your doctor! Almost all will have a pager or out-of-hours number that you can call if you need to.. . I hope that helps, and hope that you are feeling better soon.
