First pitch delayed

Posted by: Chad Jennings - Posted in Misc on Oct 17, 2012 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

No word on a new game time, but the Tigers have announced that tonight’s game will start in a delay because of rain in the area. This is good news for the Yankees. The last thing they need in a situation like this is for CC Sabathia to go to the mound and immediately sit down because of bad weather.

Also, Carp’s chat is coming up in just a couple of minutes.

Cashman isn’t going anywhere cause he’s a yes man to Hal and Girardi isn’t going anywhere cause he’s a yes man to Cashman…..

Honestly I think Girardi has done a good job this year despite some really tough circumstances of Injury Nd underperformance

  4. Shame Spencer October 17th, 2012 at 8:00 pm

I want to have to convince my boss to let me leave work early enough tomorrow to catch the 4:50pm bus home….. it’s gonna be so much harder when I’m late for work tomorrow because I was up until 2am watching this damn baseball game.

I haven’t heard one baseball commentator who disagrees with this blake.

Is this gonna be one of those hour or so long waits for the rain to start?
    I hate those..

  7. NYY_Girl_Penny October 17th, 2012 at 8:02 pm

anyone fee like telling a baseball story while we wait ? How about one about Arod when he used to be clutch ?

  8. mick October 17th, 2012 at 8:04 pm

no rain, no tarp, no game….once went to one of those which they postponed…and it never rained.

  12. Shame Spencer October 17th, 2012 at 8:08 pm

    @Buster_ESPN

If this game rains out, then it would impact both rotations significantly if the series is extended to 5, 6 or 7 games.

  13. jmills October 17th, 2012 at 8:09 pm

    Mick, …start playing some records.

  17. Yankee Trader October 17th, 2012 at 8:14 pm

    Until later.

Did all of you listen to the onfield interview with Alex and the media this afternoon?

I expect a lot more will come out after the season is over for the Yankees.

As they say-”It’s not over till the fat lady sings.”

Someone, tell her to stay at home and no singing for the next two weeks! :)

    From last thread:

    Trisha -

Of course Girardi wants to win. But do you really believe putting ARod on the bench in favor of Chavez gives them a better chance? Based on what, a seven-game sample size? If this is so plainly the best lineup, then why did it take Girardi 168 games to figure it out? Why wasn’t he platooning ARod and Chavez from Day 1?

I’ll tell, you because ARod overall is a better player. It would be one thing if Chavez was red hot, but he clearly is not. Why does he deserve the chance to break out of his terrible slump more than ARod?

All they say is it sometime take just one swing or one AB. ARod got a very nice hit on his last at bat in game 2, if I remember correctly. But because of Girardi, we will never know if that was a turning point for ARod in this series.

  22. Bring in the Goose October 17th, 2012 at 8:22 pm

    Any highlights from Arods interview?

There HAS to be more of a reason than performance for the brass to want this guy sitting.

And it’s more than a note to a fan, too.

  23. yankeefeminista October 17th, 2012 at 8:23 pm

Sounds like we may actually be rained out… mlb and teams are discussing.

  24. Tabbert October 17th, 2012 at 8:23 pm

Its suppose to rain for two straight hours before this thing moves through. I guess were not playing tonight…

  28. igotid88 October 17th, 2012 at 8:33 pm

So the Yankees are basically throwing in the towel.

  29. igotid88 October 17th, 2012 at 8:35 pm

Is A-Rod responsible for the rain?

  30. ron October 17th, 2012 at 8:37 pm

Feels like this arod partnership is about to end.
    Don’t know how,or when,but the benching,trade rumors.

There will come a time, very soon where arod’s attitude will change, against the regime.

  33. jmills October 17th, 2012 at 8:41 pm

Blake, next year, you and me can be the new wild card thing. We only need 59 wins.

Is this going to be like Game 2 of the 2005 playoffs vs the Tigers where they cancelled the game even though it didn’t rain? Well it did but a light drizzle

  53. Chad Jennings October 17th, 2012 at 9:14 pm

Still no word on when this thing might actually start. The tarp is out, but it’s still dry. Rain is apparently coming pretty soon, but it’s hard to say whether they’ll bang this game or keep waiting.

  54. Poetkiosk October 17th, 2012 at 9:15 pm
