This game has been rained out and will be played tomorrow at 4:07 p.m.

This crowd, as you can imagine, is livid. It still hasn’t rained, but the game will not be played.

We live to see another day! Yes. Way to go fellas.

    Stay of execution delayed……19 hours

  4. Mike in Harrisburg October 17th, 2012 at 9:22 pm

    Pushing deeper into October!

  5. Jerkface October 17th, 2012 at 9:24 pm

No CC for game 7, making any potential 4 game comeback even harder

  6. RSM October 17th, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Being overly optimistic, if it goes 7 games … No CC game 7?

  7. Yankees_Fan October 17th, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Wonder if we get to see the same lineup tomorrow. I think the A-Rod decision should be reconsidered. I just can’t see the Yankees advancing with the turmoil they are going through right now. Baseball is probably the sport that feels the most like a movie script and you see all the stories developing before your eyes. We have no bigger story than A-Rod’s disappearance vs redemption storyline. Mo is gone. Jeter is gone. Most in the lineup are underachieving. And right now the biggest story is A-Rod.

I know it sounds crazy, but so usually is baseball.

  8. RSM October 17th, 2012 at 9:27 pm

    Game 7 starter?

  9. Madrugador October 17th, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Talk about being stacked against us.
If we even got to a game 7 that would then be a gimpy Hughes? Phelps? Lowe? Garcia if he were added to the roster?

  10. Mordot11 October 17th, 2012 at 9:28 pm

CC on 2 days rest. Book it.

  11. Niblick October 17th, 2012 at 9:28 pm

Somebody tell Carp. He keeps posting that the game is getting closer to starting.

  12. Bronx Jeers October 17th, 2012 at 9:29 pm

Didn’t they get screwed over on a rainout during the 2004 ALCS?

Gettin it from both ways dammit!

  13. Nick in SF October 17th, 2012 at 9:29 pm

    Yanks’ continues!

Does this mean I have to go back to Vallejo tomorrow?

  14. Triple Short of a Cycle October 17th, 2012 at 9:30 pm

How the f does MLB postpone a game when it hasn’t even rained yet and would be in the 4th or 5th inning???

    Mind boggling

  15. RSM October 17th, 2012 at 9:30 pm

    Yankee-Fan,
Arod doesn’t stand a chance against Scherzer.
If you sit him against Verlander, you must sit him against Scherzer.

  16. austinmac October 17th, 2012 at 9:31 pm

If they get to game 7, I’ll be optimistic whoever pitches.

  17. mick October 17th, 2012 at 9:31 pm

CC on 2 days is the call.

  18. jmv October 17th, 2012 at 9:31 pm

Bad luck. I was hoping for a rainout tomorrow to get more rest for Andy and Hiro. But this sucks

Phelps for game 7 vs Verlander. What do you know? But we have certain 3 games to take care of first

Yeah, but we had the 3-0 lead that time. Maybe the rain works for us this time.

  20. J. Alfred Prufrock October 17th, 2012 at 9:32 pm

jmv, hope it comes to that!

You mean you left? You should have been holding a vigil on the mound this whole time!

  22. jmv October 17th, 2012 at 9:34 pm

Well, one more day to apply voodoo, or hypnosis… Anything to get their bats going

    Lineup should be the same

If it gets to game 7 the tigers can screw themselves and this will be me.

Good to see you around, JAP… I ‘ve been real busy (at work and biting my remote, LOL), so wasn’t able to post too much.

Also I’d rather talk about trades and signings in the off-season. We are still alive!

  28. bruceb October 17th, 2012 at 9:44 pm

Will the lineup change tomorrow I wonder or will Girardi stick to his guns?

Or is Girardi even selecting the lineup these days?

    The plot thickens.

  29. Kayster October 17th, 2012 at 9:45 pm

Can we get to game 7 before we worry about game 7…. we cant even score 1 run yet u guys talking about who to pitch for game 7

  30. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 17th, 2012 at 9:45 pm

As much hatred as I have for MLB, my guess is that they don’t want any of the kinds of repercussions that happened last year when the Ys and Tigers started a game and then it had to be called. So they erred on the side of caution. I don’t know the weather forecast so don’t know if there is rain coming in. But I have to believe that’s why they called it.

The downside is we miss the off day.

  31. fantasygame101 October 17th, 2012 at 9:46 pm

game 7? I can not even think about game 5.

  32. Jerkface October 17th, 2012 at 9:47 pm

They should have played, even if it rained out you’d get X number of innings from CC and the chance to use him in game 7. Now they only get him for 1 game and Cashman said he wont pitch at all in a game 7

  33. trisha - true pinstriped blue October 17th, 2012 at 9:47 pm

So let’s talk about the potential implications. Is this rainout good for us or bad for us, and why? Or a little of both?

  34. Ys Guy October 17th, 2012 at 9:47 pm

complete incompetance over at mlb. they could have gotten half the game in by now and its still not raining.

and now the yankees have lost cc for game 7

  35. Triple Short of a Cycle October 17th, 2012 at 9:48 pm

Its been almost 2 hours and no rain

  36. Madrugador October 17th, 2012 at 9:48 pm

Have a late meeting tomorrow. Won’t get to tune into the game until late innings. Keep ‘em flying for me. Go Yanks! (Dream big: Phelps outduels Verlander in game 7.)

  37. J. Alfred Prufrock October 17th, 2012 at 9:48 pm

jmv, nice to see you also. yep, we’ve still got a faint pulse. The Chinese would probably say our condition is devastated kidney yang. In TCM, that’s serious, but reversible :)

  38. Nick in SF October 17th, 2012 at 9:48 pm

In my heart, I never left.

  39. Ys Guy October 17th, 2012 at 9:48 pm

the implication is this, no travel day means no cc for game 7

  40. Jerkface October 17th, 2012 at 9:49 pm

So let’s talk about the potential implications. Is this rainout good for us or bad for us, and why? Or a little of both?

Its super ultra bad for the Yankees. Even if they win, winning 3 more after that just became exponentially harder

  41. JobaTipsHisCap October 17th, 2012 at 9:49 pm

Game 7 starter? Cc on 2 days rest?
    Ok, thanks

  42. J. Alfred Prufrock October 17th, 2012 at 9:51 pm

Cashman said he wont pitch at all in a game 7
    ///

that’s good, you don’t really want cashman pitching. can he hit at all?

  43. Ys Guy October 17th, 2012 at 9:52 pm

i would be livid too i i spent the money to get to the park, park the car, get crappy food and drink for absobitant prices and then there was no game despite no rain. the average family of 4 is out a couple hundred bucks and never saw a pitch. now just do it again tomorrow afternoon, before you’re supposed to get off work and just after the kids get out of school.

in case you didn’t notice, chavez’s ops was 70 points higher than alex’s this year.

Yeaaa but he got this with very favorable platooning & in a limited amount of starts/PAs (he didnt qualify for batting title)

Good God, I’ve hear it all. “Favorable platooning”? You have any stats to back that up? Sounds like more of your dishonest debating, which is really unbecoming.

    vs rhp 2012:

    Arod: .256/.326/.391 (356 PA)

    Chavez: .298/.365/.531 (274 PA)

He blew him away and it’s not a small sample size. It got even worse late in the year.

This place has gone looney tunes with all this Arod conspiracy crap.

Is this going to be like Game 2 of the 2005 playoffs vs the Tigers where they cancelled the game even though it didn’t rain? Well it did but a light drizzle

    Yea that’s right

No you proved my point right there. Chavez’s OPS was higher than Alex’s this year because he got extremely favorable platooning in a half seasons worth of PA total. He had 274 PA vs RHP, favorable platooning, and only had 313 PA total on the year.

  47. Ghostwriter October 17th, 2012 at 10:25 pm

The day off might help the Yanks regroup. If they get hot in time, they can still roll over the Tigers in four straight. It’s a big if, but it is doable.
