I had Gardner 3.0, Logan 2.5, Robertson 3.0, Chamberlain 2.0.
Hughes I had traded (Greinke Plan), so did not guess, I did not consider Nix, they should go with Nunez, and McGehee should be released.

Below are some of the things I have been hearing. Call it whispers in the wind, brainstorming, whatever. Nothing concrete, but maybe this will give you and idea of the current state of Yankees behind closed doors. Enjoy.
Braun:
Yankees will look for a major impact bat this winter and nobody will be untouchable. There’s concern about the attendance decline and lack of “crowd draw” as it was put. What I was told is that most are in agreement that they need to go after a middle of the order high-impact bat in the likes of “Ryan Braun” who’s name came up expressed as a “Cano tandem”. Please don’t take that there is anything going on with the Mariners as of yet, because there is not. However, they are going to see if they can entice the Mariners enough to make it happen.
Hamilton:
Like I said above, they are going to find a middle of the lineup high impact bat this winter. I wouldn’t rule Hamilton out but I can tell you that they’d rather trade for a younger bat like Braun than a high risk such as Hamilton.
Arod:
Absolutely nothing going on. No news.
Jeter:
Some are concerned that this will greatly impact his already declining range but don’t expect to impact his bat. Jeter also received shots to help him and it was speculated or questions whether or not that weakened his ankle. Wake up call ? The importance of Jeter and what he means to this team was emphasized after his injury. This too brought up the need for a “crowd draw” new type of player.
Cashman:
His power in the organization has only increased this year. Cash has a lot of freedom to do as he see’s fit but all “big ticket” moves/pieces will be finalized by Hal. The good news is it seems the door is open to spending and doing what it takes to strengthen this team.
DISCLAIMER:
Just because a name is mentioned in a discussion, doesn’t increase the likelihood that it is going to happen. Draw you own conclusions, but nothing is fact until it happens or it doesn’t.

JF,
I don’t think Martin’s name should be in consideration for the GG award. I think Tex and Cano win it in landslide.
=
Luis:
I agree. Martin may have handled the staff well but GG is just pushing it too far. It’s a shame that GG is becoming as ridiculous as ASG voting.
Braun does not play for the Mariners
Is Posey now the Jeter of the West?

I have to say, I am glad to be in Tampa today not dealing with the weather in NY. The weather can’t be anymore beautiful today with the cool breezes. Paradise! Sorry.

Braun does not play for the Mariners
Had Ichiro on the brain. obviously s/maringers/brewers.
Braun is signed for a million years until he is 36 (with a mutual option), and if you calc his AAV as his original contract+extension its only ~11.5 AAV. Makes less than 20 million each season. Braun is a .900 OPS bat vs righties and a 1 OPS bat vs lefties. Pretty awesome.
I’d deal a lot to take him off the Brewer’s hands.
If that’s not bs about Braun, then they should not have any qualms about Melky.
But why would the Brewers trade Braun? That contract is not bad at all.
Yeah I said Mariners a handful of times. Have no idea how my brain slipped like that. Scary. Often I’ll find myself typing “here” instead of “hear” knowing very well the difference but seems like my brain is misfiring a bit in my old age. Time to get some carrot juice. Sorry about that.
Below average?
–
99 ERA+ on the season. He can hang his hat on wins in an arbitration hearing but not ERA. Yankees can use ERA & FIP, his HR rate etc.
I think ~5 million is a reasonable estimate for a contract he will get tendered

What does Braun have to do with Melky ??? Are you on something ? Melky is a middle of the order impact bat crowd draw. REally ???
Uh, I also read Lost’s post being that the yanks are going to try go after a high quality impact bat full force, not necessarily Braun. Sheesh people, really?
And Lost, Mariners ? LOL wth?

Use your brain, what to Braun and Melky have in common?
You calling people stupid here is amusing.
Lost may be making this all up, but I will pretend the door being open to spending is true.
Braun would never happen, but I love to watch him hit. He has a lot of opposite field power. Sigh.
Has anybody seen Ray VT lately? It’s snowing in Blacksburg!
Penny:
Sorry about the Mariners gaffe. I have no idea how that happened. Every time I typed “Mariners” I was thinking “Brewers”, kind of scary.
Yes, I think you are on to something. If they approach the Brewers, that doesn’t mean it will happen. The positive I can take from that is they are showing the willingness to change, looking for a high-impact bat and won’t be shy about it.
What would the Yankees pay Mo if he returns? A large guarantee or could an incentive contract work considering the health questions? I hope the latter would work.
Jacksquat. LOL you’re worse than a woman. Frealz.

Maybe 5 + 1 mil for every 10 innings pitched up to a maximum of 10 mil.
Still can’t believe that yankees traded away a gold glove center fielder.

Probably 10 million
Jacksquat, I will pretend for a moment that we are friend and attempt to have a discussion with you.
Melky has only showed above avg bats BEFORE he got caught with peds. Braun I don’t believe was dirty and even if he was you know he was tested and clean this year and look at his numbers.
I can tell you from experience I took a urine test a few times for a volunteer position at a lab where I needed security clearance and the first one came back as I was on speed/crystal meth or something. I’ve never even seen that stuff! They sent it for further testing and sure enough it came back a false positive. Strangely enough I took a second test and the same thing happened, another false positive. It does happen more commonly then you think so any changes to the popper protocol can screw up the results even without tampering.

(2) Adrian Gonzalez started just over 100 games at 1B for the R\Sox.

What about trading away A. Soriano ? I think sometimes you have to trade talent to get talent and we got Granderson 40+ HR is nothing to sneeze at. The .230 AVG and 200 SO’s yeah that is terrible, but still I wouldn’t say its a total bust. In hindsight, sure. I wouldn’t trade Ajax either.
NYY, I’m with you…. Gramderson is not a bust however I was hoping that his BA would be respectable..

Maybe you should have posted this first to have a discussion, instead of that bombastic stuff you posted.
I was not discussing Melky’s performance vs Braun’s performance, that should have been obvious. I said the Yankees shouldn’t have qualms about Melky, having been suspended for ped use. Braun was also suspended, he just won the appeal. Both are associated with peds. Discussion about testing, false positives, etc. is irrelevant. I am talking about appearances here.
tucker, :thumbs up: re: AFL games! And thanks for the good wishes, regarding the storm. Wind is starting to amp up.
Lost,
You were probably thinking about the Ms cause they are like the only team Cash trades with anymore
Cashman probably thinks Braun is a 4th outfielder without the juice
Would it be easier to get into Nobu right now?

Hey guys,
Sorry I disappeared, had lunch. Good mussels in whit wine broth at le bouchon du grove, if you have a chance, check it out.
Lost,
Good stuff… I hope you are right about the impact bat, they certainly need one to go along Cano.. What I hope is that they don’t trade the farm for one… We still have that core rebuilding thing pending… That’s why I like the Hamilton approach, he costs only money, while Braun might cost a lot more, since he has such a reasonable contract. I guess if they trade a little pitching I might be fine with it.
Thanks for sharing bro.
Hmmmmm

They still have tvs in Fla?
East Coast is going under.
Glad you enjoyed your lunch tho.
Yahoo, released players. Our roster holes will soon be filling up.
So bats to trade for – not an exhaustive list – and not taking into account the natural hurdles involved (I am not including obvious bats that are beyond 1000% going nowhere – i.e. Buster Posey, Mike Trout, etc.).
Braun, Justin Upton, Cespedes, Tulo, CarGo, Headley, Trumbo, Gordon, Hosmer, Myers, Choo – - – -
Mick,
Haven’t got time to watch… I hope that you stay safe though… Hurricanes are not fun to be around with… We have a saying down here that goes along this lines: ” I rather be a living dog than a dead lion”… Meaning don’t risk it if you don’t have to.
@ajcbraves: #Braves have contacted catcher D. Ross’ agent to let him know they want to re-sign him. Ross has already made it clear he wants to return.
Just shows you how clueless this organization is.
Last off season the offense was fine and they trade a possible middle of the order bat for pitching.
Now they see Hitting as a problem.
Are we being run by an Etch a Sketch?
thanks lost.
i hope all you north east people stay warm, dry and safe. i’m worried about my parents

Pretty much on point. Yikes

I seriously believe they thought they could get by on the offense if the offense was vastly improved but they overrated how good the offense was.
Watching TV now… The Sandy storm is supposed to collide with a winter storm… That’s not good news… Also, I noticed the path of the hurricane, not very usual track. They are supposed to go away the coast as it heads north… This one is getting deep inland, against the normal prevailing winds.
A crane collapsed in midtown NY… How in hell it wasn’t removed before the storm struck?
luis,
Every stream, creek and river in Penn, NJ, NY southern tier and beyond is going to flood. Very bad news.
Is little old Bruce Bochy now a HoF manager? Also ran a great playoff gauntlet in 98 before facing the GOAT
Tom – if global warming were real, the highest point of Staten Island would have a chance of being the new capital of Waterworld
Tom,
And tons of snow as well… If anyone is reading this, stay away from the water… There is going to be a lot of flash floods… This could take a while to fix… My prayers go to all of you in the path of this storm… Stay indoors, hopefully you all got enough supplies to go through this mess
Thanks for the info luis. It is greatly appreciated
Hassey,
That’s Todt Hill, about 430 feet, if I recall. That’s be about right.
At least no NYS games need to be rescheduled
I have enough Yankees classics warm memories to last me thru mid-December. Anyone have an idea why they never show 2000 ALCS game6?
Tom- yes exactly right. I believe the godfather’s satellite dish tops out at 435 feet, to be exact
Hassey,
Nobody knows for real what’s happening. Or the reasons why it is happening. I read a novel a while back from M Crighton ” State of Fear” about an ambientalist terrorist group. They wanted to artificially create a weather catastrophe to prove that Global Warming was for real. The interesting part of the novel wasn’t the novel itself, but the words from the author afterwards. He cited so much evidence to contradict global warming that it was scary. In the end, what he wanted to imply is that nobody knows what’s going on.
Watching this storm from afar is like watching a slow-motion train wreck. Terrible, but I can’t avert my eyes. Bless everyone affected, stay safe.
@mlbtraderumors: Non-Tender Candidates http://t.co/XCP2BsO5 #mlb
Some fairly interesting names on there
Hope everyone up north is evacuated and safe
Luis – I think the debate is dead about whether it is happening. It is. The real question is what is driving it- man made or natural cycle. I happen to believe it is 75/25 man made but certainly folks can twist or frame facts however they’d like to support their agenda and viewpoint
My pleasure Odds, glad to be of help. The more I learn, the more I will be sharing. Just stay safe guys.
“How in hell it wasn’t removed before the storm struck?”
The crane hanging in midtown during a hurricane is fine. #mustbecashmansfault
Arod closed his penthouse window and accidentally knocked over the crane
Hassey,
I don’t want to get in to a debate that I honestly don’t have enough information to make a good argument either way. But I do invite people to read the words of the author, I found them very compelling. Whether is true or not, I can’t say. But he made a ton of sense.
@MLBazFallLeague: The Scorpions put up 6 runs on Peoria starter Kyle Gibson (#Twins) in the 2nd, led by a 2-RBI double from David Adams (#Yankees). #AFL12
Yeah Nick…. One more reason to hate him.
I live in fla ive been through so many hurricane hope everyone stays in an safe
Melilla – are you typing while reporting on the storm from the beach?
When in doubt blame ARod!
Intersting talk on acquiring an impact bat to compliment Cano. If it is someone like righty Ryan Braun could this hit chart [from Miller Park] of his play well in YS?
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/p.....ryan-braun
Again wish anyone being hit by this Hurricane to say safe and dry. I know what you’re going thru. Been in a flood and also a Category 5 Hurricane.
Unfortunately, some do seem to hate him without the ironic winky emoticon, while it’s apparently Sandy Alderson who is actually seeking to destroy New York.
