Rivera gets back on a mound
Mariano Rivera was back on a mound today. While filming a commercial, Rivera made roughly 25 throws in Tarrytown. As Bryan Hoch reports, it was Rivera’s first time on a mound since he tore his ACL in May.
“I’m feeling good,” Rivera said. “The rehab has been great; it’s been tough, but at the same time, I’m seeing good results. I can’t wait to continue and stay 100 percent. A day at a time, like I always tell you guys. A day at a time.”
Rivera said the same thing that Brian Cashman has said, that the two sides are talking but there’s no deal in place for Rivera to return next season. However, neither side seems particularly worried about getting a deal done and getting Rivera back into the bullpen one more time.

@RobMixer Indians seriously looking at moving Choo, Masterson, Perez, listening on Asdrubal and even Santana. Thinking longer term than ’13
Hi guys! I’ve been able to donate through my bank up here with the Red Cross, is there a better way to give?
@mikeaxisa: Not NYY in that case. RT: @MyKBO: Ryu Hyun-jin’s winning bid is $25,737,737.33
Hi blake and Stone ( haven’t met you before ) – rather hard to take baseball salaries seriously at the present moment.
Interesting bid
Hi jmills
Hi back, Stone.Things will get better with ruminations on Bouton and stuff
The Yankees will have three supplementary picks in the draft, plus their normal one? Swish and Sori will definitely sign with other teams and I suspect Kuroda will too…
This new Qualifying system will help the Yankees since they can afford to take the QO risk….
“This new Qualifying system will help the Yankees since they can afford to take the QO risk….”
Before this was true, but probably no longer. A’s Blake pointed out in last thread, Yanks don’t have much cap space under the new rules.
So unless Hal resets his 2014 goal, the Yanks will have to be careful in QOs. The three they offered this year were no brainers. They passed on Martin because $13.3 million would have been an above-market rate for him, and he Yanks desperately need to be wise to preserve cap space
(and pay for Hal’s private jet fuel and hangar space.)
Hey Jmills how are you?
@JonHeymanCBS: #cubs said to have bid aggressively on Ryu but they did not win the bid at $25.7M
Being an Islander fan I now feel the same way in the off season. The Yanks have become bottom feeders. It is a joke what this organization has become
Heres a number for the number cruncher. Attendance was down over 110,00 this year (220K from 2010).
That was with a team with the best record and a chase at the end of the season. keep penny pinching and let’s see how much more it drops this year.
Blake
It looks like the Heels were on a budget this year as well.
Not a bad first game for the mostly freshman team. Mcadoo just keeps getting better and better.
JF or anybody who knows….how good is this Ryu dude?
Mcadoo is gonna be a beast…..this year is gonna be a year for the kids….kinda like if the Yanks brought up Sanchez and mason
Ryu doesn’t seem near impressive enough for a bid like that.
How does he compare to Chen?
@Ken_Rosenthal: Winner of rights for Ryu unconfirmed, but sources tell me and @jonmorosi that #Dodgers submitted aggressive bid.
Blake
Yep
Just read that Brown got fired from the Lakers. Maybe it’s time for Coach K to leave Durham. Wishful thinking I know.
If Delmon Young didn’t have that NYC hotel incident that exposed him as an Antisemitic ex-WWF wrestler, the Yanks would be pursuing him hard. Will Shelley Duncan give his permission for the Yanks to talk to Gomes?

——————————-
The problem with the Red Cross is that they use disasters as fund raisers to finance their other work. Donating to the Red Cross will probably not affect the amount they spend on Sandy disaster relief. I am giving to the Community Food Bank for NJ because I know my donation willdsatay in the area. Doctors without Borders (MSF) is very ethical about spending designated money only for the purpose donated.
The upgrade for Nix is Keppinger.

Makes sense. Big Korean population near Dodger Stadium …. the new owners understand their market.

Watch the video, lol @ 37 seconds.
Kepping is not a SS, and not really a good 2B. He can man the positions if necessary, but I don’t think you want him up the middle with regularity.
What’s wrong with Nunez/Chavez? It’s hard to find guys who are truly good at 2 or 3 of SS/2B/3B.
