Granderson smiling his way through South Korea
Curtis Granderson spent much of this week in South Korea as part of baseball’s International Ambassador program. He’s since moved on to Japan where he’s apparently working on becoming a sumo wrestler. Here are some AP images from Granderson’s tour of South Korea.

Think he’ll be traded this offseason?
It’s rumored the Rangers would trade Olt for Dickey if Greinke doesn’t work out. If they would trade Olt for Dickey, would they trade Olt for Granderson?
If you want any chance of Olt for Granderson, you have to hope they sign Greinke so they can’t sign Hamilton.
Even with all his flaws I’m going to miss Grandy when he’s longer a Yankee. Can’t say the same about every player on the team
Yup.
Grandy is a class act. Smart guy, reps the pinstripes well … Now if he could just lay off the slider in the dirt, away.
good call aao. one of the first things about curtis granderson i noticed was that after he got traded out of detroit, he was still making appearances in michigan that he had committed to before the trade.
he’s a stand-up guy and i like him alot.
but the k’s are just a killer…
Mac, the link to the article you mentioned in the last thread: http://www.nydailynews.com/spo.....-1.1215298
It talks about the potential of lower attendance, lower ratings, less revenue and potential friction between Fox and the Yanks if the team does not spend to put a championship-caliber club on the field ….
I like Grandy but I hope he smiles his way to Atlanta for prospects this offseason. Too many K’s, not enough contact.
Yea the k’s are a killer especially when you know they’re coming lol.
Tucker,
Yep. Sounds like what has been said around here.
Nice to see Granderson working with the kids. When you’re around young people, you’re reminded of the heart’s capacity to love ( one of my favourite pics is of my kid poking around in a green algae pond, smiling – stick held high in hand )
The Cleveland Plain-Dealer thinks that the offer to Indians’ offer to Your was more than 2 years, $18 million:
@TerryPluto I checked on the report of the 2-year, $18M Tribe offer to Youk. It could be a little higher than $18M for 2.
It’s rumored the Rangers would trade Olt for Dickey if Greinke doesn’t work out. If they would trade Olt for Dickey, would they trade Olt for Granderson?

Because 1 is an absolute steal and the other is a fair price? I think if the Rangers are trying to value Olt in the Dickey class then its an attempt to fleece the Mets.
offer to Youk, not Your …
Mac, it will be interesting to watch how this Hal vs. Fox dynamic unfolds …
Why would the Mets want Olt?
I realize Olt played some OF last year but he is much more valuable as a 3B… Mets obviously have 1B and 3B covered long term.
I don’t think Youkilis is coming. He hasn’t accepted the one year offer, and I doubt that is changing. He will probably go to Cleveland and Francona for 2 and 20M.

But they do need a centerfielder if they don’t get Hamilton back. Not saying they are equal, Yanks could include a little more (nothing major).
If not, I like Wilmer Flores. He’s blocked and the Mets are looking for young outfielders. I think Tyler Austin would get him.
Hal better not mess with Fox, I would guess. We’ll see. An uncompetitive team will not draw viewers. Even I will find other activities.
One year $12 million is an attractive offer and more than Youk is worth. But he may take the comfort of two years playing for Tito in a city near his hometown.
Also, he has to wonder how much playing time he’d get when ARod returns.
I think Youk goes to Cleveland also.

I misread, I thought you were asking why they’d be willing to trade olt for grandy if they thought he was worth dickey.
I agree, I think olt is very trade worthy right now. I said it during the summer when he was in every rumor. He is the kind of top 100 prospect that changes teams. He isn’t an elite defender, he isn’t super highly rated, but he is valuable and cheap. A brett lawrie type.

I wish they could get Mike Olt somehow
——————–
Granderson, Gardner and Nova for David Murphy and Mike Olt.
Texas replaces Hamilton’s power and also gets a lead off hitter and mid rotation starter. Yankees get a 3b and LF. Hamilton in RF and Abe Almonte in CF.
Bit of an overpay there. Murphy is only under control for 1 year. Don’t see the Yankees trading both OFers and only getting 1 in return.
According to well-placed sources, Mariano Rivera is at the Nets/Warriors game in Brooklyn.
Olt has contact issues.
Btw, the Granderson to Texas, Hamilton to the Spanks ideas make a certain amount of sense.
Doubt Texas will trade with the Yanks, or vice versa. Two teams vying to be the AL’s best each of the last three seasons. Neither wants to help their chief rival.
Texas would be an excellent trade partner for Granderson, since they loaded up on some IFA’s we liked over the past few years.

Yea but he can play 3b, has pop, and is controlled cheaply for 6 years…..they just need some cheap big league regulars to offset payroll if they are sticking to this budget
Nice to see you Phil BTW
If my plan of the Yanks stealing Hamilton and the braves stealing Upton comes to life then maybe the Rangers would over pay for Grandy
@JimBowdenESPNxm: Dodgers plan B after Greinke appears to be Anibal Sanchez over Kyle Lohse according to a Dodger source with a trade for Dickey also possible
Who do the Dodgers even have to trade for Dickey….Zach Lee?

Yeah, about one k every 4 pa’s in the minors.
That’s why I recommended Wilmer Flores, one k about every 9 pa, pretty good. Plus you don’t have to trade a major leaguer for him.
thanks, blake.
What I want to see them do is just get bandages or placeholders for 3rd, C and RF, and let the top prospects develop for another year or so and debut them over the 14 season. I think we’ll have some of the older prospects debut this year if nothing else changes.
I want to see us make hay with the extra picks in June, and get a lot more for Grandy than we got for Sheff or Randy Johnson.
But getting Hamilton also intrigues me.
Yankeesource ?@YankeeSource
@MatthStarr Who signed in the winter meetings that they had to have? Jeff Keppinger? Mike Napoli? None of these guys are that important.
9m Yankeesource ?@YankeeSource
@MatthStarr As a Yankees fan I don’t know why there’s a reason to panic. They are headed in the right direction by not making bad signings.
“What I want to see them do is just get bandages or placeholders for 3rd, C and RF, and let the top prospects develop for another year or so and debut them over the 14 season”
Yea…they have potential options at catcher and in the outfield but the long term solutions at 3B and SS are much harder to see…. That’s why I think if they do trade Granderson they should try to target the best prospect they can at one of those positions…..
If the Rangers fail to resign Hamilton they will be very right handed without much left handed power. Granderson would make sense for them but would they give up Derek Holland for him?
“Granderson would make sense for them but would they give up Derek Holland for him?”
I would think not…..maybe if the Yanks included nova or something to replace Holland ….I like Holland ….would like to have him
