Waiting. Again.

Tweet [1]

[2]This is a familiar feeling isn’t it?

The Yankees waited for Mariano Rivera to make his comeback official. They waited for Hiroki Kuroda to choose between New York, Los Angeles and Japan. They waited for Andy Pettitte to decide whether he was going to retire (again) or play (again). Turns out, they even spent some time waiting for Alex Rodriguez to get a second opinion on a left hip that’s going to keep him out of action when the season starts.

Now they’re waiting for Kevin Youkilis.

There’s little mystery here. We all know the Yankees have made an offer, and even Youkilis’ agent has called the offer “very legitimate.” [3]We all understand why the Yankees want Youkilis. We understand that Youkilis is — almost without argument — the best all-around third baseman on the free agent market. We understand that it’s a awkward scenario to imagine a long-time nemesis putting on pinstripes. Everything about this storyline is easy to understand, easy to interpret and easy to discuss.

We’re just waiting for a decision. And we should be used to that by now.
