Yankees spring training schedule
On second thought, maybe it’s easier to simply take a screen shot of the actual file sent by the Yankees. And so, taking the easy way out, here’s the Yankees spring training schedule. For details on ordering tickets, check the previous post.

Hmmmmm… it appears there are no games tomorrow.
Jump in and see what Cincy will give for Gardner cash
Shame -
You just made me literally laugh out loud.
Shame,
I hate to say I told you so, but I did say there were no games tomorrow. I listen to Brian. He lives in today. No concerns about tomorrow. There are no games tomorrow. I am at peace. And Youkilis may have all the today’s to decide. Let him be at peace too.
I think it would be a bad idea to trade Gardner. He’s the only young (sort of) major league position player we have under team control for more than a year.
Can anyone confirm that Cashman still has an office at Yankee Stadium? It seems like he is still in Nashville, on vacation or just m.i.a.
“I think it would be a bad idea to trade Gardner. He’s the only young (sort of) major league position player we have under team control for more than a year.”
Depends on what you’re getting…..I like Gardner but he’s 30 now….his game is all speed….he’s getting more expensive….and he gets hurt a lot. Id need a nice return but I wound deal him if I got one…..
Heathcott might be Gardner with more bat this time next year…..
blake,
Yeah he’s certainly not untouchable but I think he’s more valuable to the Yankees than to other teams.
Yeah I agree with Patrick on Gardner.. he is super valuable but coming off last season there’s no way you get enough for the value he gives you on our club, if healthy.
The Yanks just can’t sell high on anyone.. the time to move Gardner probably would have been when he was robbed of that gold glove.
Yea Gardner is getting older but they dont have to sign him to a new deal, just hold onto him until he is a free agent. He’ll make peanuts in 2013 & 2014 while being a top tier major league quality CFer, which is kind of what the team needs.
I’d trade him if there was a good enough return though.
The time to move Granderson would have been last off season coming off his MVP year…
We have trouble selling high.

blake,

That may be true ….I just said Id ask and find out
To be clear…..I’m talking about only trading Gardner if I can get a really good return…one that solves long term issues
@JaymesL
Greinke: “People make take their own interpretation of what would make me comfortable, but it’s not always true.”
I’m watching Last Days right now (don’t ask Patrick!!) and according to Gus Van Sant Kurt Cobain watched Boyz II Men’s Down on Bended Knee video during his last days. I’m just gonna believe this is 100% true.
I’m watching Last Days right now
—————————
That movie was so damn boring
My point was that apparently the Reds are offering a pretty good return for a year of Choo to lead off and Play CF….Choo in CF is a bad idea….perhaps they’d offer more for a real CFer Andrade off guy they cn control longer like Gardy? Id just ask ….that’s all
@JonHeymanCBS: #dodgers are looking at 3b depth but wont be a big name like youkilis. youk has options tho: at least nyy, sea & cle
Yeah I’m sorta confused why I’m watching Mormon kids ringing doorbells but whatevs..
blake – I’d of course wanna know what kinda return we could get for Gardner as well.. but I just don’t know if it will be enough. The first thing is you’d need to be replacing Gardner for at least the length of his deal, the second is you’d have to be doing it with a player that is better than Gardner…. the third issue, for the Yanks not Team Greedy, would be that he’d have to be both better and cheaper for at least the length of Gardner’s contract.
I think the best we could get for Gardner is a solid rated prospect, which they’ll probably be too gun shy to do.
@BenBadler: There we go RT @hoynsie 3 team dealing cooking among #Indians, Reds, Arizona. Choo headed to Cincy. Cabrera not involved as of right now.
@jonmorosi: Rare that team can find *exactly* what they need offensively, but that is what Reds would have in Choo (AL top 10 in OBP – ’09, ’10, ’12).
Does that shut out Texas..?

Does that shut out Texas..?
I doubt Upton is involved ….
Cause it will all but assure Hamilton ends up back there if it does..
Damn.. I wanted Texas to get shut out of something.
Too bad the Yanks can’t get involved in the trade and get Upton. Arizona is getting a SS from the Reds so the Yanks can include other prospects and wouldn’t need to include a SS. I wonder where that trade has Upton going.
@BenBadler: If the Indians could flip Choo for Gregorius to get some of Arizona’s frontline young pitching, that would be a dynamite move.
Yea I’m thinking this….Cleveland will just try to get pitching from the Dbacks
Isn’t Choo exactly what the Yanks should be going after? Good power, high OBP, no impact on the payroll in 2014, plays RF. He’s also one of my favorite players, something Cashman should keep in mind when building the team.
@JonHeymanCBS: #phillies talked to cubs about domonic brown for soriano swap. but cody ross/other FA more likely now http://t.co/o0RPz9AN

You’d think….oh well
Maybe we should trade Grandy to the phillies for Dom Brown+
Cody Ross is gonna have a lot of options..
@JonHeymanCBS: #cubs willing to pay vast portion of soriano’s contract, depending on prospects back. philly will look at free agents 1st
Yanks could do worse for a RH platoon and DH if theo pays all the money
Maybe Choo isn’t big an hairy enough?
You all should count yourselves lucky, if the Yanks ever got him I would post Kpop videos whenever he hits HR’s.

If you was a GM of a team and was looking for a CF why would you give a nice return based on the first part of this statement?

Gotta sign JH first
@mikeaxisa: The RHB OF market is so bad that I’d happily take Soriano back if the Cubs eat all but ~$4M of his contract and take meh prospect in return.

Was thinking the same thing but there’s no way Theo will pay ALL the money… but I don’t think it’d be a terrible move if he paid enough of it.

Because there are good things about him To go along with those things
Gardner is also an elite defensive outfielder who can steal 40 bases and when healthy gets on base….and he’s cheap…..that’s why
Just watch – Cashman will inquire about Thome, just to add to the cast of one year over the hill rentals he’s assembling.
blake
Would you as a GM give a nice return for him?
I would take Soriano but it all depends on what the Cubs would pay and what they want back. If he plays as well as last year he would be a nice part time player. Good fielder (never thought I’d say that about him), good power, decent average, fairly low OBP. I’d give him more play time than Jones got but he’s also better than Jones at this point.

Depends on my needs….and how bad I needed a CFer but possibly yea….
I see people are contemplating my Soriano idea.
And if you do Philly, you go Ruff and Peppitone possibly. I’d rather shoot for a Teheran and Ahmed – – - -
I’ve wanted the Yanks to get Choo for years. It’s like they can’t spot Yanks when they are on the wrong teams anymore.
@SteveGilbertMLB
Hearing if #Dbacks do get a shortstop from the #Indians at this point it would be Gregorious and not Cabrera.
Michael Kay and his husband Don can be quite annoying on the radio….

F*CK FU*K FUC*!!!!!!!
I take it Youk wasn’t high on your wish list, Shame
I don’t like Youkilis but this signing makes them a better team
It’s gonna take a lot of weed to get over this one…
Youk better play like it’s 2007.
i really don’t like the writing i am starting to see on the wall with the team. i could be looking at this overly negative but what the hell are the Yankees gonna do if/when Cano and Granderson walk? its hard to be confident in them locking Cano up or bringing Granderson back seeing how they have operated the last two off seasons.
and the Yankees usually don’t get guys like Choo because Cashman falls in love with his prospects.
Toronto won only 73 games in 2012, Boston only 69, and Baltimore came out of nowhere with 93 wins, their first over .500 season in fifteen years.
Considering the Rays just forfeited the postseason by trading their #2 who’d be an ace on most teams (Shields), I just don’t see the AL East being as competitive against the Yanks as alot of people think it’ll be.
Nice that Tampa Bay got one of the best hitting prospects in baseball in Wil Myers, but let’s see him get it done on The Big Stage and if he does, so what when who’s the guy who will pitch as well as or better than Shields did in 2012 and has for years for TB? They lost Keppinger who led the team in batting. Zobrist and Longoria were the only other really good hitters. Who’s at first as I doubt Carlos Pena is?
Nice that Toronto signed Melky and traded for Josh Johnson, Buerhle, and Reyes, but let’s see Johnson pitch as well as he has in the league with the DH instead of a way more often than not free out in the pitcher batting and a tougher bottom of the order. Let’s see Buerhle a year older not better handle AL pitching again. Reyes and Cabrera will improve the offense but they mean nothing if Bautista doesn’t return to pre-injury form and Encarnacion doesn’t maintain his excellent production.
Nice that Boston bought Victorino, Napoli, and Ross, but is it? Are these three REALLY worth a combined $29.1M a year 2013-14 then $26M (Victorino and Napoli) in 2015? Me thinks not, and what the #$%^ have they done to improve their pitching? NOTHING. Their rotation is Lester, Doubront, Bucholz, Lackey, and who? Victorino is an offensive downgrade from Cody Ross, Napoli certainly an overall downgrade from Gonzalez, and Ross is an offensive downgrade from Saltamacchia. Their offense got worse not better. They don’t have locks at SS and 3B although Ciraco and Middlebrooks have shown they can hang with the big boys.
Nice that the Orioles did as well as they did in 2012, but recent history shows they won’t do it again. They lost a ton of homerun from Mark Reynolds signing with the Indians and have done nothing this offseason. They’re arrogant enough to think they, a team who led the majors in one-run wins or was second or third to think they will be that lucky again or better.
Nah.
The 2013 Yanks will need only 87 wins to win the division.
The wildcards will be either Texas or the Angels (the other will win the division) and Oakland.
Compass – Maybe I should move to Washington
I’ve wanted the Yanks to get Choo for years. It’s like they can’t spot Yanks when they are on the wrong teams anymore.
—
Ichiro was a Yankee on the wrong team. Choo is as well
Other players that are Yankees but on the wrong team: Holliday, Tulowitzki, Haren, Harper, Beltran
Funny that all the Yankees on the wrong team are really good players
Now Youk is a Yankee but shouldn’t be one
Great. Now, their will be no money for other positions. The 3B options seemed better to me than the catcher or RF ones. I would have tried Nunez and/or Adams at third and taken my chances.
The 2013 Yanks will need only 87 wins to win the division.

That’s crazy talk.
Welcome to the funhouse!
Maybe the Mayans were right.
Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have some 3B prospects ready… we have no OF prospects ready.. but they sign a big money 3B…
They better be working on a trade.
Atleast Youk will replace Swisher’s energy on the team. From Damon to Swisher to Youk. Say what you want about Youk but if he is healthy the team can use his all out effort and energy.
I saw Youkilis to the Yankees coming as soon as the Red Sox traded him last year. it made too much sense.
Fooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk

This makes me so sad. We are paying Kevin Youkilis 3 million less than Curtis Granderson :< and like 5 million less than Derek Jeter

That ‘if he’s healthy’ part is the key…
Also, his defense is terrible.

Youk and Ichiro is nice but they definitely need to add another bat. They can’t be the only additions. The middle of the order is really lacking power.
Ok, I’m over it. Hopefully Youk can stay healthy, get his average back up, have a nice obp, and hit some homers.
Jack,
LOL
Adams, Mustillier, and to some degree Nunez.
They’re not proven guys but they’re far more ready than any other prospects we have.
