A few Monday notes: Cervelli, Soriano and Berkman

Just a few quick Yankees notes from today…
[2]• Francisco Cervelli had a minor whiplash scare [3]while playing winter ball. He was brought to Tampa for tests, but Brian Cashman told ESPNNewYork that Cervelli is fine and going back to Venezuela to finish the season.
• Bob Klapisch reports that Scott Boras asked the Yankees if they’d be interested in bringing Rafael Soriano back on a one-year deal. [4]Klapisch says the offer was “flatly denied.” After Soriano opted out and turned down a qualifying offer, it’s hard to imagine the Yankees bringing him back unless it’s a significant discount. Cashman has said he’s not looking for additional bullpen help.
• Before Lance Berkman signed with the Rangers, the Yankees showed some interest in bringing him back to New York as a designated hitter. Two sources have told Ken Rosenthal that the Yankees made an offer. [5]Another source says the two sides simply talked.
