Notes from Tampa: Nova, Pineda, Cabral and Chamberlain

Things seem to be pretty quiet down in Tampa, but we’ll go to our Florida correspondent Erik Boland for the latest via Twitter…
[2]• Ivan Nova spoke to reporters [3]at the Yankees minor league complex today. He said he’d been there for about a week and has his eyes set on winning a spot in the rotation. “I’m going to be there,” he said.
• Michael Pineda threw 25 pitches off a half mound [4] and was followed by Cesar Cabral, who we were told earlier this winter is on basically the same program as Pineda.
• Joba Chamberlain said he has heard back from Kevin Youkilis. [5]As you probably remember, Chamberlain and Youkilis have a history of bad blood, and Chamberlain reached out with a phone call after Youkilis signed with the Yankees. Now that Chamberlain has heard back, maybe the story of their relationship will go away. But probably not.
• Phil Hughes and Clay Rapada were among those at the complex this morning. [6]Derek Jeter was also there going through his usual routine.
