Sabathia expects normal spring
CC Sabathia said he expects to throw his first bullpen on Thursday. He has been playing catch for a while and said the elbow feels fine; he can feel the improved range of motion when he plays catch. Sabathia never throws off a mound before spring training, so he is more or less on a normal offseason schedule despite the offseason surgery.

1) The return of Pineda
2) The development of Nova
3) The development of Phelps
4) The rise of Heathcott
5) CC dominance
6) Ichiro motivated to win
7) Cano’s extension
8) Trading Hughes at the deadline for a bat
9) Youkilis returning to all-star form
10) Romine winning the catcher job
11) Radio silence on Montero, Arod
12) Jeter’s quest for 3,500 hits
Things I’m excited about ^^^^
Most baseball writers now think Arod is a liar.
This is just miserably wrong.

Put Austin Romine in the “came to camp in better shape” group. Said he lost about 13 pounds, back feels good, sees an opportunity. #yankees

A-Rod IS a liar. He’s cheated on his wife, and he’s lied about his past steroid use.

is there any evidence to the contrary?
I agree on A-Rod. The guy has a bona-fide track record of deceit. Some of us have strung along with him, as everyone makes mistakes and deserves 2nd or 3rd chances, but this Miami Mess is the straw. I cringe just thinking about him taking the field in pinstripes somewhere down-the-road.
****11) Radio silence on Montero, Arod
“A-Rod IS a liar. He’s cheated on his wife, and he’s lied about his past steroid use.”
And this makes him unique? Far too many people cheat on their spouse and he was more honest about steroids than some. Yet he is always signaled out like he is the epitome of what is wrong with baseball, and he’s not.
For those who missed it, the Indians signed Michael Bourn to a 4 year 48 million dollar contract. Jon Jay would be a nice target this year. He makes 500K and is every bit the player Bourn is. .300 hitter. CF. Steals. Leadoff. Low K’s.
I wanna hear a player report to ST and say, “Yea, I’m outta shape”. Every guy that reports is in the, “best shape of my life”. Sherman continues to be a Hack.
@FeinsandNYDN: Girardi said finding a righthanded DH is among his biggest concerns this spring.
Eh….Nunez, Jeter, Youk, and Tex should be able to fill this
Why would the Cards trade Jon Jay?
Who knows what it would take, Blake.
Blake, and while we’re on the subject of realism, how many comments did you waste talking about a possible 1-year deal for Bourn?
Hey Cashman, King Felix might have a bad elbow maybe you can give up 10 more prospects & trade for him, it’s the only kind of deal you seem to be able can make.
“Sherman continues to be a Hack.”
He is one of the best reporters on the Yankee beat. Hacks don’t criticize the team they cover; Sherman does. Sherman breaks stories. He was the only one who said that Hughes was out of shape a few years ago. People like me criticized him. He turned out to be right.
I’m pretty sure that was the year Hughes came to camp and blurted, “I’m fat.”
Sherman is a conduit for the Yankee FO. He is a Yankee fan, and sometimes like his blowup with Girardi last season, that supercedes his Hack Role, but the guy is a Yankee FO Bull Horn when called upon.

Pretty sure I always said if….and Boras clients have done it before
Sherman is one of the only reporters that will actually ask the Yankees questions and challenge their thinking…..he’s been in the game long enough to be I afraid that they’ll cut him off

Why don’t you shut up now! The medical reports on Pineda before the trade showed no problems or issues. Is it all Cashman’s fault if the doctors didn’t do their jobs properly?
@nickcafardo: No update yet on buchholz who grabbed his hamstring during pop drills and came off field.

Donny,
The Waffle House thing you do is hilarious….please never stop

Regarding possibility of ARod distraction, Girardi said, “This club is used to having distractions.”

I kind of feel bad for the guy. Some people’s bodies cannot hold up.
I read and rely more on Sherman than most others. He doesn’t simply regurgitate what the team tells him.
It would be very surprising if the Yankees make a trade this spring depsite statements of a need for a right handed hitter. A pick up of a released player is much more likely in my eyes.
The Toradol story and the Red Sox is an interesting one. That is powerful medication they seemingly gave to players for routine aches and pains. It is suspected that was the cause of Buchholz’ health oproblems last year.
