A few things to have on your radar…

• A source told ESPN’s Outside the Lines that Francisco Cervelli’s name would only be on a handwritten document from Anthony Bosch if Cervelli obtained performance enhancing drugs from Bosch. The source said there’s “no other reason” for Cervelli’s name to be listed next to what appears to a record of owing $2,500. Cervelli has said he only spoke with Bosch to get advice about a past foot injury.

• George King reports that Chien-Ming Wang threw off a mound at Billy Connors’ house recently, and the Yankees will continue to monitor Wang through the World Baseball Classic. They think he might be valuable as veteran rotation depth. Connors is with the Yankees as a spring training instructor.

• Over at ESPN.com, David Schoenfield gave the Yankees offseason a B+ grade: “I think they have one more season in them. The rotation should keep them in the playoff hunt, and if Jeter, Granderson and Teixeira come close to what they did a year ago, the offense will score enough runs.”

• Former Yankees outfielder Melky Cabrera reported to Blue Jays camp and answered questions about his use of performance enhancing drugs and the uncertainty that he can match last year’s numbers. ”I don’t know if I’m going to have the numbers I had last year,” he said. “I can’t predict the numbers. ‘The only thing I know is that I worked out six days a week in the Dominican to be ready for this season. I’m ready.”

• Speaking of Blue Jays camp, Jose Reyes doesn’t have many nice things to say about Jeffrey Loria.

• Yahoo! Sports reports that a former Red Sox trainer has been accussed of giving Toradol injections. The painkiller isn’t illegal and it’s not banned in baseball, but Yahoo! reports that trainers are not allowed to give injections.

jmills, i was sorry to hear about mcgowan the other day. he looked really promising before the shoulder woes started. he’s looking like mike prior now. too bad for the kid, i hope he got a fat bonus check.

if you come to nyc and fly in or out of newark airport, you are cordially invited to come eat at my restaurant as my guest. (we’re about 10 minutes from the airport)

just checking mcgowan’s contract history on cots, he’s owed about $3.5M and he’s made about $6M total. i hope he’s put away a nice little nest egg out of that.

i see the vegas odds have the yankees and jays both at 86 1/2 wins, co-favorites in the al east.

Ill take the over on both. (and baltimore at 74 wins.) ill go under on boston.

bp has the jays at 85 and the yankees at 92 wins. surprisingly high for the yankees.

its gonna be a great summer!

I would love to see Wang return as the Yankees’ fifth starter which is all they’d need him to be in 2013 with a front four of Sabathia, Kuroda, Pettitte, and Hughes, and plenty of options for the fifth starter slot (Nova, Phelps, Pineda one day, whoever else.)

Zack wants to come to games in a helicopter. Guy thinks he is Kobe now.

I suspect these sources have an agenda that may trump the need for truth.

This Shawn Kelley cat is a twitter maniac. That feed on the right side is going to melt once he is added to it.

    (Chad)

Speaking of the twitter feed on the right, can we get rid of the non-Yankees? Maybe add new Yankees?

@WheresKernan: Jose Reyes also told me by playing #Yankees so much he wants to watch and learn from HOF SS #Bluejays http://t.co/eg3nU3QN

Good morning blake ( hope you’re better ) – at least the guy is ok with being in Canada – just don’t get caught at the border like Fergie Jenkins and Keith Richards :)

  19. blake February 16th, 2013 at 8:32 am

Hey Jmills….I’m better thanks for asking. Jays will be exciting this year one way or another

  20. jmills February 16th, 2013 at 8:38 am

Yep, its going to be a fun year no matter what ( one could give me b ball in dung and I’d be happy though – in Africa certain birds swim in elephant droppings for undigested seeds ) I’m interested to see how Colby does.
