Teixeira to be evaluated in New York on Wednesday
The Yankees just sent the following email…
Please note that Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has been diagnosed with a strained right wrist. He will be further evaluated in New York on Wednesday by Yankees Team Physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad along with Dr. Melvin Rosenwasser.

so it could be worse if they are sending him to NY.
how dud he hurt it?

Yea until the Yankees guys look at it we don’t know how its going to affect him for the season. He hurt it swinging off a tee.
Jose Bautista missed the rest of last season with an injured left tendon sheath and elected surgery. Sam Fuld had a similar wrist injury and elected rest. That didn’t work and surgery was needed.
Hopefully this injury doesn’t prove to be serious.
if they suffer the amount of injuries they had last year their lack of depth will hurt them.
I actually hope it’s either serious enough to require surgery or it’s absolutely nothing. Something in between those 2 could linger all year and could become another stressor for this team if he can’t play up to his already declined level.
If he’s out for the year, then the team has to find a real replacement at 3b (if they move Youk to 1b) or a 1b. Dan Johnson and Juan Rivera are not going to cut the mustard as 1b here in the doomsday scenario.
jf you seem more sedated than usual, have you matured?

Any time a power hitter injures their wrist on a swing its bad news.
can we blame this on his playing for the wbc?
change of routine?
When did Juan Rivera become an option at first base?
Speaking of juan rivera, why couldn’t he and matt diaz injure themselves so they get removed from the competition instead of a bat we’re counting on?
Give the job to Tyler Austin
“The Yankees drafted then catcher Tyler Austin in the 13th round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Heritage High School in Georgia. Since that time he has shifted over to third base, then first base, before ultimately landing in right field last season. What hasn’t changed, however, is that he still swings one of the most productive bats in the entire Yankee farm system.”
It might be time to let some Baby Bombers get a running start.
G. Love, I hate to say it, but I have to agree with you. Either it’s something that has to be dealt with immediately where he misses significant time and they know it, or it’s nothing that two weeks off won’t cure. It would be so awful if it’s a lingering issue throughout the season. There is no Nick Swisher to fill in at first…
Gardner just has to lead off. He’s got all the tools that you want from your lead off man.
