FIRST APPEARANCE: This will be the spring debut for both Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. But you probably already knew that.

OUT OF THE PEN: Joba Chamberlain, Chase Whitley, Francisco Rondon, Cody Eppley and Jim Miller are listed as other scheduled relievers for the Yankees. Rondon has been an early standout here in Yankees camp and might have a chance to make the team if injuries to Boone Logan and Clay Rapada linger.

WHAT TO WATCH: How’s Jeter running? How’s Rivera reacting off the mound. Mostly, I suppose it’s worth watching Jeter and Rivera just to see them play again. It’s a big day here in Yankees camp, and would be even without the Rivera announcement. … Juan Rivera gets today’s start at first base. He’s been hitting pretty well and could legitimately earn at least a platoon role at the position. … Jayson Nix starts at third. I believe that’s his first time playing there this spring, but I could be wrong.

UPDATE, 1:12 p.m.: Stewart throws out Pastornicky trying to steal second base. Take that Cervy! It’s a scoreless first inning for Ramirez. Here comes Jeter to leadoff the bottom of the innings.

UPDATE, 1:14 p.m.: First pitch to Jeter, sharp single to left field. Of course.
