Heyman: Yankees sign Boesch to big league deal

According to Jon Heyman, the Yankees have signed outfielder Brennan Boesch [2] to a major league deal worth $1.5 million plus incentives.
Boesch was released by the Tigers earlier in the week. He’s a left-handed corner outfielder who could, in theory, form a platoon to help replace Curtis Granderson. In his career, Boesch has actually been better against lefties than against righties, but in 2011 — his best season in the big leagues — he hit .276/.336/.478 against right-handers.
Boesch has spent time in both corners, but he’s primarily a right fielder. He’s never played first base, even in the minors.
