    Blake-

Ivan the Great will just have to hold the other team hitless.

    ;)

The first spring training game is fun to watch, and it is fun to watch the young prospects..

But now it is just another game, without any real excitement.

It would be nice if Melky could hit a bit, he’s got a great glove but he is closer to Chris Stewart offensively

  4. tomingeorgia March 17th, 2013 at 8:59 am

    GregD,
Do you think he’s that good a hitter?

  5. MTU March 17th, 2013 at 9:00 am

Mesa is like a Greg Golson clone.

    Fast, great defender, no bat.

    @eboland11: Today’s lineup: Nunez 6 boesch 9 youkilis 5 rivera 3 nix 4 Stewart 2 Neal 7 Johnson dh mesa 8 nova 1

With good fortune this lineup has the potential to score 1 run

    RMS-

    Clearly, Blake is frustrated.

    :)

@ESPNNYYankees: No surprise Yanks release Matt Diaz; early release gives him a chance to latch on somewhere else

    DanBarbarisi
Mark Teixeira here in Tampa, says his injury is tendon sheath, not tendon. says he wont rush back, could be “early june mid-mAy, early may”

Does it make sense to put Teix on the 60-day DL, then?

My friend is a big fight fan ( wrecked his body in karate ), I’m not on the whole. Who won last night? I understand Jean St. Pierre had a big one. I was having dinner with my friend while arguing Ali should have left after the thrilla’ in Manila. I did always enjoy though, listening to Bert Sugar, and Ray boom boom Mancini was quite the athlete and I don’t like how one opponent called him a murder – not fair in the least.

  12. jmills March 17th, 2013 at 9:56 am

Sorry, ” called him a murderer ” – one opponent called Mancini a muderer and then after obtaining such a sick psychological edge, went on to beat Ray who was apparently ill with the flu.

Diaz is gone as we continue to recycle released players. Clearly, a winning strategy.

I understand it is spring training, but they have now been shut out six times so far. Borsch appears to swing at every pitch. Didn’t I read he swung at more pitches off the plate than anyone in the MLB last year? Sounds encouraging.

Did anyone read the Times story about the mid-60s? As many know, that is what I have been fearing about the next several years. I have never before had those concerns since I knew George would at least try. Now, trying is simply checking the waiver wire. Hey, a bad team gets earlier waiver choices. There is that.

It’s absolutely laughable that there’s another injury regarding texeria. Love the guy but for 23 mill he’s pretty damn fragile.

  15. jmills March 17th, 2013 at 10:06 am

Austin, I wouldn’t worry too much about the Yankees in the mid to latter sixties. It is a different age my friend. I mean, sometimes the Jays have reminded me of ’78, resulting in me having to give me head a shake and moving on :)

  16. blake March 17th, 2013 at 10:06 am

Wonderful…..Tex’s injury is very worrisome ….wrists are so unpredictable that even if they get him back in late may you really don’t know what you’ll be getting….especially as slow as he starts. Hope the Yanks are still In it by then

  17. jmills March 17th, 2013 at 10:08 am

Benny and the jets Blanco, you have a great name! We have a Blanco here just for Dickey!

  18. jmills March 17th, 2013 at 10:13 am

Blake, I never remember wrist injuries like this back in the day, I mean, it wasn’t as if you had to worry about Reggie or Molitar ( mind you, he went down for other things ) going off for such a thing.

  19. MTU March 17th, 2013 at 10:34 am

That’s the same injury that Big Sloppy had.

    Torn tendon sheath.
