An opening day lineup, not THE opening day lineup. The surprise is that this looks like what could be an every day lineup for Girardi while everyone is injured. Scary.

Cashman said Jeter won’t play in another major league spring game. Yanks will play him in minors to protect ability to backdate dl stint.
It is good to see Cano in the lineup. Disappointed Nix is at third and not Musty. They already know what Nix can do or not do. Why not evaluate Musty? At this point in the spring a replacement player may or may not even get an at bat and only a couple innings in the field.
This does look like a lineup we will see. Remember the days of the circular lineup? This is a semi-circle. Cano would never be given a chance to beat me.

I’m just still really confused.. what was the tax rate on the dollars spent above $179 in the old CBA. Someone summon JF, because I thought if the Yankees kept their payroll static for next year they’d still save money based on the new CBA.

The Yankees paid 42.5% last year and the threshold was 178. Now the rate will be 50%. Then, in 2014 the threshold goes up to 189. So lets assume that at the end of the year including benefits the Yankees have an actual club payroll of 230.
230-178*.5 = 26 million in tax
230-189*.5 = 20.5 million
They were going to get savings no matter what.

No, its still too hard. 15 day DL doesn’t open up a roster spot on the 40 man. Right now Rivera, Nix, Mustelier, & Francisco are not on the 40 man. Who is getting kicked off?

Put Cabral on the 60 day DL. He’s on the same program as Pineda.
You don’t need both Kelley and Eppley. Pick one.

Gross, he isn’t going to hit like he did in spring in the regular season. He is also only hitting .289 .304 .378 .682 this spring.

if phelps and hughes then only room for 6 of above 7.

I have more faith in Musty than Rivera. The problem is that they don’t have a lefty, which would have been more than the various righties they got. Oh well.
