I still haven’t left Tampa, but Sweeny Murti reports that Robinson Cano was scratched from the lineup because of a stomach bug.

Who else freaked out when they read the thread title but exhaled after reading it’s because of a stomach bug.

agree on not seeing boesch on opening day.
    francisco would make more sense.

Mustelier at third, the dream lives on!

  5. Rich in NJ March 27th, 2013 at 5:52 pm

    Heh.

  6. MTU March 27th, 2013 at 5:59 pm

Got to believe they think Ronnier can swing the stick.

What he needs to do is convince them with the leather.

    Another chance to shine.

    :)

  7. Rich in NJ March 27th, 2013 at 6:06 pm

That’s true, MTU, but Youk at 1B provides some offense, better defense, and saves errors. No other 1B option does all that. The case would seem to be pretty compelling.

I see where Hughes 1st start is the 11th April, miso does Nuno make the squad and if so, who’s off the 40 man?

    JF-
How many chances has Mustelier had at 3rd? The times I’ve watched they were few. I hope he makes the squad and starts at third opening day vs lefty Lester-he’s the only righty besides Jeter who can drive the ball the other way.

I was about to say if we can’t keep him healthy then forget it

Boesch should be dfa d….and resigned for minor leagues..

  11. Yankee Trader March 27th, 2013 at 6:09 pm

    From Yahoo Sports:

Hughes made an appearance in a minor league game Wednesday, but since it wasn’t an official Grapefruit League game, his move to the DL can still be backdated. Another minor league game is on tap for Monday, and the Yankees are targeting April 11 for Hughes’ regular-season debut.
With Hughes sidelined, both Ivan Nova and David Phelps will be part of New York’s rotation for at least the opening week.

Is Kuroda injured/sick. He hasn’t pitched in a while?

  13. austinmac March 27th, 2013 at 6:14 pm

Yes, the Mustelier dream is batting right before Wilson.

  14. Yankee Trader March 27th, 2013 at 6:22 pm

7 wannabes looking to make the 25 man squad in the lineup tonight.

  15. joeman March 27th, 2013 at 6:28 pm

Jeter last played in a game on Saturday and reported feeling soreness in his surgically-repaired ankle when he woke up Sunday morning. The Yankees have already committed to placing him on the disabled list for the start of the regular season and it sounds like he could wind up missing a large chunk of April.

    and so it starts

“Yes, the Mustelier dream is batting right before Wilson.”

    What about a career 67 OPS+ don’t you like?

(By way of comparison, Stew’s is 61.)

  17. Yankee Trader March 27th, 2013 at 6:41 pm

    The question remains?

    Who’s on first?

I don’t know is on third.

  18. mick March 27th, 2013 at 6:45 pm

Between Musty, Boesch, Francisco , Rivera and Nix one must go…looks like Boesch to me.

  19. Rich in NJ March 27th, 2013 at 6:46 pm

Oh great. Our infield has become similar to the punch line from an old Vaudeville routine. :( ;)

  20. Rich in NJ March 27th, 2013 at 6:47 pm

I would keep Boesch over Francisco or Rivera.

  21. joeman March 27th, 2013 at 6:49 pm

a 83-79 record looks about right

  22. mick March 27th, 2013 at 6:53 pm

    gardner gardner
    ichiro nunez

  23. blake March 27th, 2013 at 6:56 pm

@BerniePleskoff: What I Liked Today: Jesus Montero took charge behind the plate and had some very good at-bats. Felix got Dodgers to pound ball into ground.

    Sigh

  24. blake March 27th, 2013 at 6:56 pm

@Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: Wainwright, #STLCards in agreement on five-year, $97.5M extension that will run from 2014 to ’18.

  25. Rich in NJ March 27th, 2013 at 6:56 pm

    That’s sickening.

    That’s a crazy deal.

  27. blake March 27th, 2013 at 7:00 pm

    Felix Hernanez to Jesus Montero…..ugh

  28. blake March 27th, 2013 at 7:01 pm

That seems high for Waino…. But he’s still not that bold and should age well if the elbow stuff is behind him….he’s the leader of that staff and they took care of him

  29. blake March 27th, 2013 at 7:02 pm

The Cards are pretty much as smart as anybody

  30. jun1210 March 27th, 2013 at 7:40 pm

If we could thread water in April moving forward this is what we have
    Ichiro
    Jeter
    Cano
    Texeira
    Hafner
    Yokulis
    Granderson
    Cervelli
    Gardner
Bench: Wells(RH), overbay (LH), boesch (LH), nunez (RH), Rivera (RH), nix, steward(C) all depends on who decided to carry as extras..
Not to bad for the long haul. ..

  31. PacoDooley March 27th, 2013 at 7:40 pm

Helmet goes flying. Maybe Nunez has a cone shaped head and no helmet will ever stay on. He needs a chin strap.

  32. jun1210 March 27th, 2013 at 7:43 pm

Reminds me of Bernie Williams and his helmet. ..
