Back in Detroit for the first time since last year’s ALCS letdown, the Yankees the were outgunned yet again. Prince Fielder hit two home runs while leading the Tigers to an 8-3 win against the further depleted Yankees. In the process of another lopsided loss, the Yankees lost shortstop Eduardo Nunez who was pulled from the game with a bruised right biceps after a fourth-inning hit by pitch. X-rays were negative, but Nunez was in severe pain on the field and there’s no word on whether he’ll be available to play this weekend. The Yankees took a brief lead when Kevin Youkilis hit his first Yankees home run in the fifth, but Fielder hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth and a two-run homer in the seventh. Ivan Nova couldn’t get out of the fifth inning and took the loss. Boone Logan and Shawn Kelley each gave up runs out of the bullpen.
