TV/Radio: MY9/WCBS 880

Weather: Brutal, cold, windy, raining

Red hot (before the two rainouts): Robinson Cano was 7 for 10, three doubles, three homers, seven RBI and six runs scored in the abbreviated two-game series in Cleveland.

Red hot II: Adam Jones and Chris Davis have 30 hits, seven homers and 29 RBI between them for the Orioles. Jones is at .462 and Davis is at .400.

Update, 7:10: Game-time temperature 42 degrees, lot of empty seats right now.

Update, 7:13: It’s got to sting to swing right now, 1-2-3 first for CC.

Update, 7:22: Cano’s hot bat didn’t carry over to his first time up, 4-6-3 double play. Youkilis’ two-out single also amounted to nothing.

Update, 7:32: Sabathia gets Pearce to wave at a change to strand the two guys who singled.

Update, 7:39: Poor Nunez, hit by a pitch again, and in this weather. Looked like he got it in the right wrist. He stays in the game.

Update, 7:47: Nunez now has to come out of the game to start the third. Jayson Nix at short after Nunez tried throwing.

Update, 7:52: RBI single for Machado, 1-0 Orioles in the third. Baltimore has four hits.

Update, 8:05: Youkilis ties it with a single, but Cano doesn’t try to score with Youkilis in a rundown.

Update, 8:12: Wells strands two with a fly to the edge of the track in left.

Update, 8:20: Sabathia strikes out the side in the fourth, now with six Ks.

Update, 8:26: Nunez has a bruised right wrist. X-rays were negative. Yankees down 1-2-3 in the fourth.

Update, 8:33: Sabathia is really keeping the Orioles off balance with his off-speed stuff, now 8 Ks in his five innings. Still 1-1.

Update, 8:37: Gonzalez knocks down Cervelli with a fastball by his chin. Wonder if CC will respond, especially considering Nunez got drilled.

Update, 8:42: Cano RBI single,  now 9 for his last 13. Youkilis now 3 for 3, singles him to third.

Update, 8:44: Wells strands two in scoring position, stranded four runners in the game.

Update, 8:51: Machado singles off Sabathia’s leg, but Sabathia fields the next one, 1-4-3 inning-ending double play.

Update, 8:58: 1-2-3 for Gonzalez in the sixth, still 2-1 Yankees.

Update, 9:02: I’m looking up at the scoreboard after Youkilis makes an error for the first batter to reach in the seventh. Sabathia has thrown just 19 balls out of 75 pitches.

Update, 9:04: Sabathia balks Wieters to second, not happy with first base ump Larry Vanover.

Update, 9:06: Hardy takes advantage, grounds trying single to left center.

Update, 9:16: Gonzalez leaves after issuing a leadoff walk to Cervelli in the seventh. Lefty Troy Patton comes on.

Update, 9:21: Showalter has Youkilis intentionally walked, two outs, runners at the corners. Hafner up.

Update, 9:25: Patton hits Hafner in the left thigh on 3-2, bases loaded. Righty Pedro Strop replaces Patton. Wells up.

Update, 9:30: How many would have thought Adam Jones would drop a ball in deep center for a three-run error? 5-2, Yankees.

Update, 9:59: Yankees triple play in the eighth and they go on to win 5-2 with Rivera saving it.
