“Just precautionary,” he said. “Yesterday it tightened up a little bit, and today before the game I knew it was a little tight. It just got to the point where it was like, ‘You know what? I don’t want to make this anything worse.’ Being on this turf, we just decided to make a decision and rest. It should be good. I got treatment and al that stuff and it loosened up a little bit. Sometimes these day games after night games, especially on this turf, it can happen. For me, I feel good and I’m ready to go.”
Joe Girardi said he doesn’t expect Youkilis to play tomorrow, but it’s likely Youkilis was going to take off one of these turf games anyway. No one seems to think it’s a significant issue.
“That happens,” Youkilis said. “We’re on a schedule now where guys are going to get off-days with the turf. That’s something I’ve learned here. Guys are going to sit a little more because we play six games on turf, which is probably a good thing a lot of times being early in the season. I don’t know how the guys here (with the Blue Jays) do it. It’s tough. It’s not easy on guys.”
