I scored Yankee tickets. Took advantage of the
MasterCard Monday-Save 25% vs upcoming Jays or Astros series.

Thanks to all the fans here that offered tips and suggestions for an out of towner like myself.
Was very informative and so helpful

  2. Shame Spencer April 22nd, 2013 at 3:45 pm

That was a quick turn around, Chad!! You’ll breed many-a-conspiracy theories…

  3. fantasygame101 April 22nd, 2013 at 3:47 pm

Hoping for the start of something good for ben Francisco.

  4. Vincent April 22nd, 2013 at 3:50 pm

    New post came quick.

There have been rumbling of Cano for a while sadly. The guy who broke the story of Melky last year, reported that Granderson and Cano would get suspended at some point this season. Better be a PED clause in his contract if they get to that point.

    http://www.sportsgrid.com/mlb/.....is-season/

  5. Warning Track Power April 22nd, 2013 at 3:50 pm

Time for Ben to make a positive impact on the team. He might have through the end
of this month to prove he should stay or else he might get released.

  6. Niblick April 22nd, 2013 at 3:56 pm

Why is Francisco batting 2nd? With his BA he should be batting 11th.

  7. Vincent April 22nd, 2013 at 3:58 pm

He has 92 speed on MLB The Show. That’s probably why he is batting 2nd.

  8. champ809 April 22nd, 2013 at 3:58 pm

Girardi still makes me scratch my head sometimes…..Wouldn’t it make more sense to hit Nuney in front of Cano and the big bats to try to spark his bat and get him going ( being that he’s going to be an everyday player and a integral piece in your offense for at least the next 3 months ), as opposed to Francisco (who maybe off the team in the next couple of weeks when Grandy or Tex gets back and who until that time) may get 4-6 ABs per week at the most…?!?!?!?!

It’s amazing how much irresponsibilty there is in journalism today. If what’s been reported so far are considered the “known facts” regarding the “link” to Robbie and Biogenesis then his name shouldn’t be associated with this report and in fact this shouldn’t have been considered newsworthy yet.

  9. Warning Track Power April 22nd, 2013 at 4:01 pm

Champ-I can not agree more regarding your comment about journalism today.
ESPN wants the headline. At any cost. They could care less how accurate the story actually is.
Just as long as they can dedicate at least 30 minutes to the “news”.

This and many other reasons are why I record certain ESPN programs on the DVR and fast forward through 75% or more of the program

  10. fantasygame101 April 22nd, 2013 at 4:02 pm

bec. he is suppose to be the righty DH platoon and nunez or nix has not hit either. Girardi must play cashman players otherwise goodbye after this yr.

  11. Tabbert April 22nd, 2013 at 4:03 pm

Thankfully Boesch is in the lineup tonight. Really wish Joe would play him more often.

  12. Niblick April 22nd, 2013 at 4:04 pm

It’s not particularly redponsible of Chad to repeat the rumor and link to the rumor, either. Where are his journalistic ethics? Oh, I forgot, this is a blog. I guess journalism has mo place here and Chad can post any piece of crap he wants to.

I would think people would be genuinely glad to see MLB investigating. It’s the easiest way to assure nothing comes of it!

Shouldn’t cervelli bat 2nd since he DOES have an avg over .300?

I am fine with catching cheaters, HOWEVER!!! It seems like the Yankees get targeted while the less important ones fall by the waste-side. Even Braun seems to be skating again while A-Rod, who hasnt been relevant in 3 years, is really under the gun (rightfully so).

  17. charlestonchew April 22nd, 2013 at 4:10 pm

I will be devastated if Robbie and Curtis have been doing steroids this whole team. Seriously. They are two of the most upstanding and outstanding players in the game. I cannot imagine what it would mean for the team and the game if they’ve been cheating and are now caught.

    The only word is devastating.

  18. Nilsson April 22nd, 2013 at 4:11 pm

Chad and the other Yankee beat writers are simply doing their jobs. I don’t know why people are getting their panties in a twist.

Maybe, just maybe this spokeswoman and her boyfriend were actual Biogenesis clients.

  19. ac1 April 22nd, 2013 at 4:13 pm

Curtis Granderson says he’s going to need 50-75 at bats before he’s ready to play. Says he’s on track for sometime in May, probably early
    ___

This is good news. Buh bye Ben Francisco.

  20. charlestonchew April 22nd, 2013 at 4:14 pm

There’s no doubt that the 24 hour sports news cycle has begun to seriously mirror the 24 hour “news” cycle that we have in this country. Like the news cycle, the sports cycle relies on the media (ESPN in this case with the help of some local papers and SI etc) to create larger than life characters. They latch onto stories and build personas. One of those that has been carefully sculpted and attacked has been ARod, especially for his issues off the field and then later for his PED use. People like David Ortiz only make sound bites because people like David Ortiz and they hate Alex Rodriguez. Bryce Harper has been anointed king of the universe, like Strasburg and Longoria and those before him. They are just generating new stories, trying to make more money, and when they break stories like this it’s in their interests, not in baseball’s. I certainly hope that Cano and Granderson were not using, because baseball would lose its biggest international ambassador and its best player at the same time to scandal. Crossing my fingers that the bloodthirsty media hype machine is wrong.

  21. ac1 April 22nd, 2013 at 4:16 pm

The positive is Cano has been pretty consistent since 2005. There is nothing that would indicate a major change in power or average associated with ped’s.

  22. Doreen April 22nd, 2013 at 4:20 pm

IF you read the story, the woman in question said she went there for a diet plan, and the article went onto report that the dollar amount was consistent with that, and furthermore, once she determined that there were pills involved in the diet, she decided against it.

Seriously, this is shoddy reporting, just to get Cano’s name in there.

  23. Vincent April 22nd, 2013 at 4:21 pm

Honestly people should be mad at whatever gutless person at MLB is leaking this information instead of waiting until their investigation is over.

  25. Carly April 22nd, 2013 at 4:22 pm

This should be an interesting game tonight. Hopefully Moore just throws fastballs :)

From ESPN Stats & Info: Moore’s off-speed pitches have been nearly untouchable this season, with opponents hitting .000 against his changeup, and .053 against his curve.

It’s probably Selig. He is a coward and slimier than a bookie. (didnt want to say used car salesman in case any of our fellow posters are of that profession)

The only way to take MLB’s investigation seriously is to replace Selig, since he sat back and benefited from this for many years.

  27. Tyler April 22nd, 2013 at 4:28 pm

Pretty funny that they are looking into Cano, yet leave Ortiz alone roughly 4 years after he started his “self-investigation”. But it’s cute that Ortiz cusses at pre-game ceremonies so it’s all good.

  28. Doreen April 22nd, 2013 at 4:29 pm

  30. Doreen April 22nd, 2013 at 4:31 pm

    Tyler -

Yeah – Ortiz is teflon man.

Considering the circumstances, and the hard-nosed reputation of Boston, I can see why people weren’t as upset at as they normally seem to get over the use of the “f” word.

    But, rules are rules.

And Ortiz should have been fined, and the money should/could have been donated to the fund set up for the victims. Just saying…

    ___

I live in Boston so this didn’t bother me at all. It’s specific to the PED’s that I am so tired of hearing about Alex, Cano, even Cervelli. I heard Braun mentioned once even though it seemed like he had a pretty specific link to the Biogenesis lab.

  33. Niblick April 22nd, 2013 at 4:34 pm

    Carly, speak for yourself.

Everyone’s favorite GM Jack Z is feeling the heat

•The Mariners’ offensive woes present the “biggest crisis of the Jack Zduriencik era,” writes Larry Stone of the Seattle Times. While he concedes that it’s a small sample, Zduriencik made several moves to bolster the lineup this offseason but the Mariners find themselves in 29th place in nearly every offensive category. The collapse of Justin Smoak, Dustin Ackley and Jesus Montero — who were supposed to be the team’s young core — is a major setback in Zduriencik’s blueprint.

I cant believe Andrew Miller’s friends didnt make him do this months ago. The guy was getting into Damon circa 2003-2004 territory.

Choo challenging Carlos Quentin for HBP

Reds center fielder Shin-Soo Choo has been hit by an incredible nine pitches already, which, combined with a very discerning eye at the plate, has lead to an MLB-best .523 OBP.

If it’s over 20, then I’d say he’s major league ready

  40. Tyler April 22nd, 2013 at 4:35 pm

Oh, the cussing didn’t bother me at all either. I thought it was pretty heartfelt. My point was that if that was anybody else (especially a Yank), it’s not received nearly as well. Everything just seems to bounce off Ortiz and I’m not sure why (I guess I could use a fat joke here). He’s just as big of a cheater as the rest.

Don’t have to convince me. I think Ortiz would be a cool guy to have a drink with but i cannot stand him as a baseball player or how he skates. In 2006 or so i remember saying, if anyone is on roids it is Ortiz, based on how different his numbers got from when Minny released him in 2003. Besides Sosa, McGwire and Bonds, this was about as obvious as anything…

He’s good for their pocket books. Just like NHL owners like Gary Bettman. They aren’t necessarily great for the sport as a whole or great commissioners but they’ve expanded enough to help the owner’s bottomline.

Yeah I agree. Ortiz handles himself much better than A-Rod which helps him out. A-Rod is just plain stupid at the PR side of things. I’m still waiting for the Yanks to really throw inside to Ortiz and knock him off the plate. He basically challenged them to do it one year and they still really haven’t gone after him. Move his feet and I always thought that would change things. Wouldn’t surprise me if Ortiz was still on stuff either with the way he recovered from his year + long slump.

Although I think a chimp could make money running the cash cow that is MLB at a time when market fragmentation greatly rewards any product that has a passionate following, even if what you say is completely true, it still makes them as slimy as Selig os. He represents their sport and by keeping him on, they are implicitly, if not explicitly, ratifying every decision he makes.

  69. dayglo April 22nd, 2013 at 6:07 pm

@Niblick – He is prone to bonehead plays, such as those catcher interference calls. If he has any more of those interference calls, Joe should bench him immediately. But even with those four errors, he deserves the spot over Stewart.

@ac1 – Cervelli batting second is interesting. Batting 6th doesn’t seem to suit him – would love to see his BA per position. Hope he proves me wrong.
