Weather: clear, cool

Hail King Felix: Hernandez is 4-0 with a 0.71 ERA over his last five starts, fanning 40 and walking three. He’s 4-1 with a 1.13 ERA in five starts at the new Stadium. He owns a 2.06 ERA in seven starts overall in the Bronx. He’s 96-24 with a 2.89 ERA in 157 career starts when Seattle scores at least two runs for him. The Mariners have scored one run or less in 89 of his 246 starts.

Update, 7:14: 1-2-3 first with two Ks for Sabathia. Wonder how many hits there will be for both sides tonight with these starters.

Update, 7:23: Nice welcome-back ovation for Granderson, then he grounds weakly into a 6-6-3 double play.

Update, 7:30: Overbay flips to Sabathia when he should’ve kept it himself. Ibanez is safe, first and third, two outs.

Update, 7:31: Sabathia gets Andino looking to escape.

Update, 7:37: 1-2-3 second for Hernandez, two Ks, including Ichiro looking at a 93 mph fastball.

Update, 7:47: Seager makes it 1-0 with a double, unearned run thanks to Overbay getting his hand in the way of his glove for an error on a grounder. Heading to the bottom of the third.

Update, 7:58: Hernandez pitches out of a bad spot, runner on third with one out, fans Gardner and Cano. He is tough.

Update, 8:11: Sabathia gets out of bases-loaded, two-out jam in the fourth. Saunders swings and misses on a 90 mph fastball.

Update, 8:22: Hernandez takes a knee to the right calf from Overbay when both Hernandez and Morales cover first.  Hernandez is OK and Overbay is given first even though he was thrown out by a lot. Hernandez given an error on the obstruction. So first and second, one out in the fourth.

Update, 8:31: Again, Hernandez gets tough with men on base. Fans Nix looking, gets Ichiro swinging.

Update, 8:39: Two-out double in the Seattle fifth, but Sabathia keeps it at 1-0.

Update, 8:45: Romine double-play ball erases Nelson after a lead-off single. 1-0 Seattle after five.

Update, 8:50: That looked familiar. Ibanez two-run HR to right, 3-0 Seattle.

Update, 9:01: 10 Ks now for Sabathia in his six innings.

Update, 9:09: Hernandez looked like he was hurting after fielding a Granderson dribbler back to him, but he stays in. Overbay follows with an RBI double to the right-field corner.

Update, 9:16: Ichiro leaves two on, flies to deep center, 3-1 after six.

Update, 9:23: Sabathia is done with runners on the corner and one out in the seventh. He gave up 10 hits and struck out 10. Shawn Kelley comes on.

Update, 9:33: Hernandez is done, one run, five hits allowed. Righty Yoervis Medina takes the ball for the seventh.

Update, 9:39: One out and Nelson on second after a single and a wild pitch. Charlie Furbush comes on.

Update, 9:48: Cano ties it with a two-run double, 3-3.

Update, 9:57: Overbay sac fly for the lead.

Update, 10:01: David Robertson on for the eighth. Yankees came in 3-13 when trailing after six.

Update, 10:15: First and second, no outs, and Robertson gets out of it.

Update, 10:21: Rivera for the ninth.

Update, 10:29: Rivera 16 for 16 on saves. Yankees win, 4-3.

Hey Nick from SF why aren’t you bemoaning the Mariners starting their ace against an ace tonight? After all, he has less of a chance to win the game going against Sabathia than he does going against Hughes or Pettitte. Oh wait, I forgot, had the Mariners started Hernandez in the fourth game of the season instead the first one he’d have been able to start against Hughes or Pettitte. LOL”

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, I’m told.

Surely my eyes deceive me, Grandy in LF? But… but… but…

I’m both happy that the Yankees came to their senses, and a little pissed at all the grief some of us took for suggesting that Cashman and Joe were wrong.

  22. vc 11 May 14th, 2013 at 7:22 pm

I’m calling for three Ks for Grandy tonight. I hope he makes me look stupid, though.

  23. Pat M. May 14th, 2013 at 7:22 pm

Sad news to hear of the passing of Chuck Muncie…..Man was he great running back, especially while at Cal

  24. luis May 14th, 2013 at 7:23 pm

Moment of truth… Good Grandy or bad Grandy… I liked the way he held up on that pitch

  25. RadioKev May 14th, 2013 at 7:23 pm

He’s holding the bat differently, right? Or am I going crazy?

  26. Nick in SF May 14th, 2013 at 7:23 pm

Tar, did we brave commenters overrule Cashman and Girardi and get Curtis to LF?

  27. BD (Boston Dave) May 14th, 2013 at 7:24 pm

Michael Kay called that a 6-6-3 double play… hmm

    “What no Montero?!?
    Hits will be down….”

    :)

Actually, I figured the same thing. I don’t think it’s tough to figure that one out.

Also, I don’t think seeing Romine getting more playing time is rocket science. Only if you choose to disbelieve everything Girardi says do you come up with the notion that Girardi is trying to punish Romine! And even then, it’s a huge stretch to disbelieve that Girardi will sit Romine to the detriment of the Yankees winning.

He said he wanted to ease him in, to let him work with the pitchers in the bullpen. He did, it worked, Romine has gotten better each start – and he’s getting more playing time.

    Pure logic.

    And oh yeah -

GO CC!!! GO YANKS!!! GO WHOEVER’S FACING THE SUX!!!

I’ve been crazy busy and haven’t had a lot of time for much outside of work.

    :)

  32. Tar May 14th, 2013 at 7:27 pm

    Pat M

I remember with the Chargers. Air Coryell. That was a fun team to watch.

  33. randy l. May 14th, 2013 at 7:27 pm

    wow, i’m in a win /win situation.

if felix beats the yankees, excellent.

and if he doesn’t, it’s because montero didn’t catch him :)

  34. Captain Clutch May 14th, 2013 at 7:28 pm

The fact that Ibanez is DHing over Montero tells you what the Mariners organization thinks of him right now. Montero was always better against lefties.

  35. luis May 14th, 2013 at 7:28 pm

Sorry Jackamir… I know that Gardner for you is not even a 4th Ofer… What number are you on currently 9th Ofer?

  36. Duh Innings II May 14th, 2013 at 7:29 pm

Great job not having Wells try to bunt the baserunners to second and third with no one out against one of the best starting pitchers if not the best starting pitcher in the game, Girardi, you idiot! Had Wells bunted the baserunners over to second and third, Granderson’s groundout would’ve been an RBI groundout.

This non-move could cost the Yanks the game right here.

The Yanks have !@#$ed themselves already. Hopefullly they can win regardless of Girardi’s managerial lassitude.

  37. trisha - true pinstriped blue May 14th, 2013 at 7:30 pm

“it’s a huge stretch to disbelieve that Girardi will sit Romine to the detriment of the Yankees winning.”

Overbay didn’t need to flip the ball. Bad play by him…take it yourself.

  39. luis May 14th, 2013 at 7:30 pm

    He was out

  40. Doreen May 14th, 2013 at 7:30 pm

  41. luis May 14th, 2013 at 7:31 pm

yes Doreen…He was out, but that’s Overbay play

  42. RadioKev May 14th, 2013 at 7:31 pm

    No harm, no foul.

  43. Doreen May 14th, 2013 at 7:31 pm

  46. BD (Boston Dave) May 14th, 2013 at 7:32 pm

clearly safe – Overbay should have taken it himself though

  47. joecembrale May 14th, 2013 at 7:32 pm

Girardi, you idiot! Had Wells bunted the baserunners over to second and third, Granderson’s groundout would’ve been an RBI groundout.

Why would Granderson have gotten the same pitch to hit if there were runners on 2nd and 3rd?

  48. Doreen May 14th, 2013 at 7:33 pm

Randy you re cracking me up!!

  49. Pat M. May 14th, 2013 at 7:33 pm

    Nick in SF……Unders tonight ( 7 )..

  50. Nick in SF May 14th, 2013 at 7:33 pm

The Jays have batted around in the first innings vs. Barry Zito.

Exchange rate very unfavorable for the NL visitors who are DH’ing Marco Scutaro this evening.

Melky tapped catcher Buster Posey with his bat to greet him to start the bottom of the first.

…and yet here you are, wasting it with your lamebrain idea that Felix Hernandez should not have started Opening Day because it prevented him from starting a series – wait, no, a CRUCIAL mid-May series LOL.

Why are the Ms negating “King Felix” by starting him against a fellow Cy Young Award-winnng ace who has time and time again proved to be just as devastating as him?

  53. BIG AL May 14th, 2013 at 7:34 pm

So far it looks as if Cashman was right about Montero, a .200 BA, and a PT player. If he does not start against a LHP, then you know he has a problem.

Right now Montero couldn’t make the cut as the Yankees C.

  54. Nick in SF May 14th, 2013 at 7:35 pm

Doreen, I’m glad you can laugh at this rank sedition.

I am surprised that there aren’t more fans at the game. It is Felix vs CC. But I guess the fans don’t care they want to see Jeter.

  57. ac1 May 14th, 2013 at 7:36 pm

    Make him work

  58. luis May 14th, 2013 at 7:36 pm

Come on Nick… You have to give it to Randy… that was funny

  59. trisha - true pinstriped blue May 14th, 2013 at 7:37 pm

randy, the difficulty with the nonstop oppression regarding Montero last season is that it leaves all who did it open to nonstop ridicule by any who choose to do it regarding the season Montero’s having.

I take nothing whatsoever out of Montero’s season so far other than it is what it is right now. It doesn’t mean that it’s terminal, it doesn’t mean that Montero isn’t destined for great things.

But I hope it’s a lesson in a little bit of humility for those who were downright nasty and surly last season to any who weren’t firmly entrenched in the Montero camp. I think you were a little overboard, but at least you weren’t nasty about it.

  60. Tar May 14th, 2013 at 7:37 pm

The lack of a sarcasm meter is kind of funny, keep it going. :D

  61. luis May 14th, 2013 at 7:37 pm

  62. jacksquat May 14th, 2013 at 7:37 pm

  63. Nick in SF May 14th, 2013 at 7:38 pm

    joecembrale May 14th, 2013 at 7:32 pm

Girardi, you idiot! Had Wells bunted the baserunners over to second and third, Granderson’s groundout would’ve been an RBI groundout.

Why would Granderson have gotten the same pitch to hit if there were runners on 2nd and 3rd?

    ——————

How do you know for certain Granderson wouldn’t have got the same pitch? If Wells had bunted the baserunners over to second and third with no outs and Granderson got the same pitch and hit it exactly like he did, the runner on third would’ve scored and the man on second would’ve stayed at second. If Granderson got a different pitch maybe he hits it differently. He most likely doesn’t hit into a double-play with men on second and third with one out. If Wells lays down a bunt single for bases loaded and no outs, Granderson’s grounder would’ve driven in the run or if not the bases are still loaded with one out. Those are the situations a successful bunt would’ve created if it was attempted.

Are you saying the Yanks shouldn’t have tried to put two men on with runners in scoring position with no outs against one of the best starting pitchers if not the best starting pitcher in the game who also owns the Yanks at Yankee Stadium (4-1, 1.13 in 5 GS going this game)? If yes, you’re an idiot like Girardi was for not bunting Wells with no outs after the first two batters of the game got on against FELIX HERNANDEZ, not Livan Hernandez.

  68. Nick in SF May 14th, 2013 at 7:42 pm

    I am putting my new

  69. luis May 14th, 2013 at 7:42 pm

  70. Tar May 14th, 2013 at 7:42 pm

“or those who were downright nasty and surly last season to any who weren’t firmly entrenched in the Montero camp.”

I feel the nastiness was started and is still instigated (Y and Bret are two great examples) from the pro trade side. Of course there was give and take from both, but the pro side were the predominate instigators from my point of view.

  71. mick May 14th, 2013 at 7:43 pm

    All good.

Not if you used Montero in a trade for a bat which many of us on here would have excepted if you were going to trade him

  112. trisha - true pinstriped blue May 14th, 2013 at 7:57 pm

Tar – to be honest with you, I don’t know which side started the nastiness, but I do know that the forum was rife with contention and that it got downright ugly with all kinds of personal invective.

I don’t know that the pro trade side ever accused those who were against the trade of being stupid, lacking baseball knowledge, and every other thing that some in the pro Montero camp said and in a very stinging fashion – and if it was and did, then they are as culpable as the ones who did it from the other side.

And I absolutely agree with mick that the nonstop negativity was the cause of people leaving this forum, and the wounds from that schism still haven’t healed.

The outright arrogance and condescension regarding Montero (any who understood the trade didn’t know anything about baseball, don’t you know) is what left the opening for Brett, Ys Guy, and anyone else to take shots when Montero’s numbers are down.

It does not diminish me in any way if Montero succeeds, but it is nice not to have to hear the daily reports and giddy hysteria every time Montero would get a hit – as if that lent total credibility to the pro Montero side.

And as I have stated in the past, what’s happening to Montero in Seattle (or any other player in any venue other than the Bronx) does not tell me anything about what that player would be doing in the Bronx, and that’s why I’m take nothing out of a down period in Montero’s career.

  113. luis May 14th, 2013 at 7:57 pm

  142. Jesus Bustero May 14th, 2013 at 8:13 pm

Tar my handle is retribution for the internet bullying I received being the only one who campaigned for trading Montero. After the trade, I was the one poster who although correct in wanting fans to stay open to discussing trades involving him (because it was realistic), yet those same fans in their shock lost control of their emotions and continued to act like I was stupid for ever suggesting it. When I come here to talk baseball, I don’t want to be annoyed by anyone who says X or Y or Z is impossible or stupid therefore they don’t want to discuss it. So instead of personally attacking me they should not have discussed it. Again, I blame cognitive dissonance.

  143. Nick in SF May 14th, 2013 at 8:13 pm

Hi Guys, not had much time to be here this year

OK to start off with I’m not a hugh fan of Granderson. One thing though with his shortened season he won’t surpass last years mind boggling 195K’s. But he already has one in his first 2 AB’s so there is a chance.

Guy struck out 116 times in 136 games in 2010, 156 K’s in 150 games in 2011, and 195K’s in 160 G’s last year. Just strikes out too much.

  170. Sir Harden Thick May 14th, 2013 at 8:24 pm

    Other way I mean.

  171. Tar May 14th, 2013 at 8:25 pm

Leaving out the Montero issue, I do you feel you are often wrongly attacked for making baseball trade suggestions. I don’t condone that. People should let you post any trade proposal you want and not attack you for it. If they don’t like it don’t comment on it. And that goes to a lot of posters whom I hold in high esteem.

But you’re “bullying” behavior post Montero is 100 times more than anything you got. Instead of bullying because you feel you have been bullied, show people the right way to respond. Be above it. You get no sympathy, when all you do is perpetuate what you abhor.

  172. Jesus Bustero May 14th, 2013 at 8:25 pm

  174. trisha - true pinstriped blue May 14th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

    mick, I dig.

And I have no problem with people who hug prospects and who may feel disappointment if the prospects are traded away. I just don’t appreciate having to eat, sleep, and drink it and being told that every disappointment they feel is really the portend of doom for the team and civilization as we know it.

I’d like to come here and be able to enjoy what the Yankees have accomplished without someone always feeling the need to expose their perception of “the ugly underbelly.”

  175. tomingeorgia May 14th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

Well Tar, that’s where we diverge and I guess I’m guilty of being a little unorthodox in the way I communicate in order to make a point. What I do now with my handle or what you describe as “post Montero” is a deterrent. I really want to ensure that the absolutism that flowed from that group never happens again. It smothered discussion about infinite outcomes and possibilities which is what I really love about baseball conversation. With the kind of absolutism this blog endured before the trade, during speculation over Halladay and Lee etc. and continues to endure with the utter lack of apology (you’ve got Randy cheering for the Mariners today in plain view), not even the slightest hint of anyone from that group that they could have been wrong and should have been more open to infinite outcomes and possibilities. If you are not then you don’t attack someone who wants to open lines of communication and have a discussion about baseball. You just don’t participate in that line of thinking. What MG did this morning regarding Michael Young is the kind of antisocial behavior that I will continue to resist with this handle.

The Yankees should get rid of Ichiro.

Just offer him and half his salary to whoever wants his sorry, done ass.

If the Angels can eat well over $25M of Wells’ contract through next year, the Yanks can eat X of Ichiro’s $12-13M (whatever the hell he got for 2013-14.)

If Hafner is not injured, Ichiro should be benched plain and simple, I could care less that it would anger his fans in Japan.

The Yanks look so inept and pressing tonight. Three gifts blown. Thankfully it’s still only 1-0 Ms – GO YANKS!!!! (In spite of Girardi deciding not to manage tonight outside of the obstruction play which woke him up.)

If the Angels can eat well over $25M of Wells’ contract through next year, the Yanks can eat X of Ichiro’s $12-13M (whatever the hell he got for 2013-14.)

How much of A Rods contract are we gonna eat?

If anyone needs a reason to see who should sit in this OF it’s Suzuki.

His two at bats were the worst I’ve since Little league!

Someone please explain why o’ why these morons signed him for two years!

Is it too much to ask that our esteemed batting coach ask Ichiro to look at some video……..and barf? He bails on pitches right over the plate.

And what could Nix possibly be thinking on 3&2,right down the middle!

When you face a pitcher like Hernandez who does not walk many and especially when you have an ump with a generous strike zone you must, must prepare to swing at the first fastball in your zone.

It is absurd to take strikes against this guy!

And does Cano look lost and has anyone ever seen him swing at so many bad pitches? Final vent for the moment, Gardner sucks and should be packaged with pitching!

    More wasted pitching!

  218. RadioKev May 14th, 2013 at 8:42 pm

My one and only post during this game. For the Montero huggers: He’s no longer a Yankee and chances are he never will be again. He’s hardly proven the trade to be wrong at this juncture. I’m pulling for the guys we got in the trade. What he does in the future will be seen, whether good or bad. For someone to say he would have done this or that if he was still a Yankee or that he would have blocked a certain pitch in this game is nonsense.

Repeat: He’s not a Yankee, get over it !!!

  268. Captain Clutch May 14th, 2013 at 8:55 pm

This Mariners lineup is terrible. It just goes to show how average CC’s stuff is now. He started the game off ok but he can’t make make any mistakes with his location. Either he has to be pin point with his location or he will get hammered.

  269. Jesus Bustero May 14th, 2013 at 8:56 pm

I will check out the Lobster Trap but I hope I’m not disappointed. I’m a New Englander born and raised on the outskirts of the NY Metro area, but close enough to Maine. I am a seafood fanatic. We had a summer home along an estuary (in Rhode Island) and I was raised on fresh caught sea bass, blue fish, mussels, clams, blue claw crab, lobster, shrimp. Not to mention I’m Mediterranean. My favorite place in Asheville is a sushi bar on Broadway

  329. Sir Harden Thick May 14th, 2013 at 9:23 pm

Good thing our ACE had 10 ks and 10 hits

  330. Tar May 14th, 2013 at 9:23 pm

I agree….he reminds me of Pedro really….Pedro was better in his peak but Felix is gonna have the ability to be great longer I think

radiokev, isn’t a troll something that lives under a bridge or am I confusing it with a homeless person?

Or is it someone who doesn’t stick to the script you’ve ordained?

Maybe someone gabbing about his favorite musical groups?

  335. Captain Clutch May 14th, 2013 at 9:25 pm

CC better spend a lot of time talking to Pettitte. Otherwise bad performances are going to be the usual for him.

  336. blake May 14th, 2013 at 9:26 pm

    Bret,
The owners are from Maine….I think it’s great but obviously I don’t have as much experience with the real deal up north as you and others. It’s a cool little “Asheville” atmosphere too

  337. luis May 14th, 2013 at 9:26 pm

  338. Hassey May 14th, 2013 at 9:26 pm

“Sure Felix is great… But I don’t think he is going to live up to that contract… I don’t think he will age well”

Well he’s a pitcher and it’s a very risky deal because pitchers get hurt…..but if he stays healthy I think he will age great….he’s already pitching at lesser velocity now and he’s just as effective…..his pitches move everywhere and he commands everything at an elite level…..he’s the total package…..

  344. luis May 14th, 2013 at 9:30 pm

And that’s a nice play from Granderson

  345. bruceb May 14th, 2013 at 9:31 pm

Right now, I’d rather see Phelps on the hill than CC. Hope he gets better as the weather gets warmer, as per usual. Disappointing way to come back from a great road trip. I know it’s Felix but do we have to lose to him almost every outing at Yankee Stadium?

    *******

Verlander and Pedro also had to pitch in games that matter. Taking away nothing from felix, but when you have to pitch differently when you’re in a pennant race and you have to extend yourself to give your bullpen a rest some nights or just eat up innings. That said, when Felix is on, its a potential perfect game a lot of times.

  349. blake May 14th, 2013 at 9:31 pm

Big outs there to keep it within reach…..at 2 runs it’s unlikely but possible….had they tacked on 1 or 2 more there then it’s over

  388. Tyler May 14th, 2013 at 9:45 pm

Romine was hitting .333 in 42 at bats in AAA. His bat isn’t bad, I think he’s just a little rusty and adjusting to new pitching. Not easy being a young catcher learning a pitching staff at the same time.

  389. luis May 14th, 2013 at 9:45 pm

    Cano… Patience!!! please

Romine may suck at hitting, given his production before this season in the minors that was always a possibility. It isn’t true after 8 PA though.

Prospects need to be able to adjust. And by that I mean be given the chance to adjust. Not everyone is gangbusters from PA 1.

Last year they had 346 chances and scored 166 times, for a 48% chance. This year 63 and 28 for 44%. So they were better last year.

But the thing is your expectations are so much lower for this team it appears as though they are achieving more. Despite achieving much less than last years team.

  459. luis May 14th, 2013 at 10:03 pm

“Seriously, how many time was this team not able to get that sac last year with their homerun hitting star studded lineup. Love watching this.”

joecembrale, I couldn’t agree with you more. I am so proud of this team and I’m proud that my team is sporting stars of the game who used to play for other teams and are now in pinstripes. The Yankees always promise to field a winning team, and this season is no exception. Apparently the Yankee scouting and decision making is a lot more savvy than a lot of posters give them credit for being.

At this point I don’t care if the average age of the Yankees is 90. I love to see the enthusiasm for the game that this lineup has shown to us.

King Felix probably shouldn’t have been checking his twitter feed in the basepath.

The sense of entitlement that these faux-monarchs have this days, it’s just out of control.

  468. trisha - true pinstriped blue May 14th, 2013 at 10:07 pm

Sis, I agree with you that Felix at less than maximum was nothing but good luck for the Yankees. The guy is phenomenal.

But right after Felix, the Yankees still had to hit the ball. This year’s Yankees are a garden variety compilation who do it all, big and little. I find it very exciting to be able to watch these players who have excelled for different teams now banded together in pinstripes. It’s really a joy to watch them truly enjoying playing the game of baseball.

  557. trisha - true pinstriped blue May 14th, 2013 at 10:37 pm

mick, I know you’ll be able to chew on this one as something to think about. All the regulars know this is Mo’s last season, but they’ve played with him for a while and uppermost on their minds every game might not be “we need to keep this going since this is Mo’s last season.” On the other hand, you have some veterans from other teams who probably appreciate Mo on an entirely other level since most of them faced him at one time or another. They have a respect for him on a level that his own guys cannot, but those guys don’t face him to totally understand what it is to be shut down by Mo.

These guys are probably tickled to be part of Mo’s last season and maybe they play that much harder. to help Mo go out a winner.

  608. Sir Alex Ferguson Forever May 14th, 2013 at 11:13 pm

Mike Woodson needs to go. He won’t be fired, but he needs to be.

He is almost the dumbest coach, if not for the existence of Mike Brown and MIke D’Antoni.

Tyson Chandler is a complete joke. He’s the most overrated player in the NBA. He doesn’t do anything. He plays no defense, he’s a statue most of the time. He doesn’t even rebound. Yet he sees the bulk of the minutes.

I like Jason Kidd, but he has been awful these past few weeks, while Prigioni is actually good. However, Kidd so much more time than Pablo tonight.

And JR Smith is back to stupid JR Smith, firing up bad shot after bad shot. When he was successful near the end of the season, he was driving the lane, getting to the free throw line, taking quality shots. He’s completely done. And yet he continues to be relied upon.

At this point, I’d rather see Copeland in there. Cope plays no defense, but he can hit the 3, spread the court, take the ball in the lane. And it’s not like our team is playing any defense anyways. With the statue Chandler in there.

Against a team with size on the inside, you counteract that by playing small, and bringing guys like Hibbert to the perimeter to guard shooters. Get them out of the lane. Open up the lane for Melo and JR. As a result, you also open up 3 point shots.

However, Mike Woodson is a complete and total fool. Our team is least efficient offensively (according to advanced stats) with Chandler and Martin on the court at the same time… So what happened tonight… he played them both together… and we couldnt score.

He keeps preaching defense, of which we’re not playing, and ignoring offense. Without any scoring, we wont even push it to a Game 6.

I want Woodson gone. He may win the Atlantic or get the 2 seed, but we will not win anything with him as our coach.. and with Chandler as our starting center getting the bulk of the minutes. Im not content with 2 seeds and division titles. I’d like to actually have a chance at an NBA title. Woodson isnt that guy. Too bad Jimmy Dolan will be happy and content with our 2 playoff appearances in 2 years for this faux coach.

  609. Rich in NJ May 14th, 2013 at 11:18 pm

Nice win. They got a little lucky, but the luck wouldn’t have mattered if they hadn’t put themselves in a position to win.

    Nelson > Francisco

  610. Nilsson May 14th, 2013 at 11:35 pm

Good to hear the news on Hafner. Let him rest for a few days, heal, and hopefully get the big hairy monster back into the lineup. I’m looking forward to the David Adams era starting tomorrow. Actually I think his offense is polished. How quickly he adjusts to major league pitching will be interesting to see.

This just in, Paul George and Roy Hibbert are good at their jobs. Especially George. He is criminally underrated. By the way, the series isn’t over yet.

  611. CompassRosy May 14th, 2013 at 11:36 pm

I know you’re all waiting with baited breath to know how Felix is ;-)

Apparently, he had no issue from “the collision”. The problem was that he tweaked his back a bit on the throw on the force out at 2B in the 6th. It got worse after he went in the dugout, so they weren’t going to take any chances. He says he’s fine and will be ready for his next start (which would be Sunday in CLE)

    We shall see.

  612. Sir Alex Ferguson Forever May 14th, 2013 at 11:37 pm

Oh, and I forget to mention that absolutely asinine double teams. All game long, all series long, it’s double teams.

The Pacers’ offense stinks. There’s no Kobe Bryant or Lebron James or Kevin Durant. There’s no consistent inside offensive presence. Hibbert is not an offensive force. There’s no need to double team anyone. All our double teams do is lead to open 3 pointers, and having players out of position and unable to rebound. It’s the retardation of an idiot coach that will have out of the playoffs Thursday night… and the blame will fall on Carmelo. When the blame should rightfully fall on Woodson, Chandler, and Smith.

I just dont understand how coaches that have been involved in a sport their entire life dont understand the simplest concepts, and somehow become coaches getting paid millions of dollars.

  613. Sir Alex Ferguson Forever May 14th, 2013 at 11:40 pm

George is ok. He has length and can play defense. But he’s nothing special offensively. And Hibbert is nothing. Chandler is making Hibbert look like Olajuwon and Duncan. And he’s not.

The series is over. The Knicks stand no chance. And the Pacers will absolutely get hammered against the Heat. The Heat’s offense wont be hindered by these guys, because they have a real coach (that’s worked with Pat Riley for years and learned from him). And the Heat will clamp down on these bum Pacers defensively, and they wont be getting wide open 3 pointers like they grow on trees.

  614. Rich in NJ May 14th, 2013 at 11:41 pm

I agree that it certainly isn’t on Melo. He’s the entire team.

  616. Sir Alex Ferguson Forever May 14th, 2013 at 11:42 pm

…only an idiot that believes everything the media has to spew would think that about George and Hibbert. The same idiot probably thinks Chandler’s presence is essential to Knicks’ success.

When, in fact, Chandler’s presence has been essential to the Pacers success.

I just went back and watched the top of the 9th again, via mlb.com. The final call strike 3 was way inside. But, credit Romine for an excellent job of pulling the ball back over the plate as he caught it. He also did a good job of pulling a low pitch up a bit to help it get a strike call.

The Shakuhachi is traditionally made from a root for a reason: the Shakuhachi is it’s own type of flute. It’s a weird, end blown, mellow instrument that has an odd traditional Japanese scale and distinct tone. Part of that tone comes from the unique bore of the inside of the flute. The root section of the bamboo used in the Shakuhachi is dense, unlike the hollow areas of the upper sections. This allows the flautist to carve an inner bore that is less wide than that of the opening. If you do not use a piece of root section bamboo, you will not be able to bore the base out to the correct diameter, and will thus compromise the intonation. If you would like to make an end blown flute that is not like the Shakuhachi, all you would need to do is apply the flutomat program to your end blown design.

You are in the scene staging major event for kate spade. Things are tense. Always. There can’t be any mistakes when you have a presentation. No fly away strings. No floppy this, that, or the other thing. Is it gapping? Doing something weird? Everything has to be perfect. Look great. Let’s get the girls into their spot. Wait, is there hair spray around here? No strings. No nothing. Everything has to be perfect. The devil is in the details in your business, isn’t it? 100%. Especially for a new york fashion week parentheresentation. What is more stressful, doing a new york runway, I mean, fashion week, or working with a top celeb who could be a little bit choosy. Not naming names. For a red carpet event. They’re different stresses. For the red carpet, you have onemoment. And for a fashion presentation, you have 30 looks. They have to tell a story. So you get to see that this season on my show. You see my life as a stylist, but a do a lot of other things, working for kate spade new york. You get to s me working with big brands and how I use my styling skills to do that, too. Do the celebrities let it all hang out? Will we get a gli behind the curtain? Absolutely. Minka kelly, shida jones, stacykeible you see what is going on. One thing I noticed, being on the red carpet, a lot of pastel this is year. Why so big? Think it’s a return to femininity. We saw a lot of bold color. Now the return to light pastels. Jennifer lawrence looked beautiful. Anne hathaway the ma, amanda seyfried. I like pastels in denim. Can I speak for a lot of women. I tried the light pink denim. It can be tricky. You know who makes a good one is j. Brand? They make a really, really good skinny jean. I want to talk about another trend. I tried to pull this one off, metallics. I am not lying to you because you’re here. I said it then, I’ll say it now, her look was the best on the red carpet. Thank you, th. That dress was the bomb. Stacey is a dream to work with. One of my favorite ways to use me tatallics is in accessories. A shoe, a great bag. I love a little bit of sparkle. I love studs on shoe, on bags. Wait a second. I love studs. Wait a second. This is morning tv. That’s a sampling of what you’ll get on “it’s a brad, brad world.” You look good if pink, by the way. It’s a color that suits you. Hey, everybody.
