  2. mick May 19th, 2013 at 12:32 pm

thats a shocker…right call on adams.

  3. ObviousMan May 19th, 2013 at 12:37 pm

That’s me no complaints today! Happy Sunday, everyone!

  4. Nick in SF May 19th, 2013 at 12:37 pm

Can we still get a game thread for the Mariners v. Indians game?

  5. MG May 19th, 2013 at 12:38 pm

I guess no conflict with Rangers-Bruins at 3…

  6. jacksquat May 19th, 2013 at 12:38 pm

I’ll be happier when they face a rhp and Brignac is SS and Adams is at 3B. This should happen most of the time. Adams has more potential than Nix (and is probably better right now), and Brignac is probably better defensively (at least) than Nix at SS. I don’t hate Nix, but I only like him as a backup and maybe play at SS vs lhp.

Nick would appreciate that. Then he can spend time talking about how much he misses Montero on this team and why Cashman should be fired like he wants. Lol

  8. ObviousMan May 19th, 2013 at 12:39 pm

No game jacksquat, so can’t cry about Girardi anymore. Haha

  9. jacksquat May 19th, 2013 at 12:40 pm

Really, it’s going to be bad all day?

Maybe this is because the Jays have a home game tomorrow at 1pm.

  10. MG May 19th, 2013 at 12:40 pm

Nuno being skipped in Baltimore, not surprising with today’s rainout…

  11. Nick in SF May 19th, 2013 at 12:41 pm

How about you post these deep thoughts with your original screen name, ObviousMan?

MLB should have a time period that must be “waited out” before a game is cancelled. Canceling a day game, 30 minutes before it’s scheduled start time, is ridiculous. I know they got radar, and want to fly the Toronto players to their next scheduled city ASAP, but cancelling a Day Game 30 minutes Before it’s scheduled start time is a Joke.

    In other M’s and Y’s related news . . .

Danny Farquhar (part of the Ichiro trade) was recalled after the Yanks series when Noesi was sent down (due to the fact that he wouldn’t be available for several days and the pen was thin) and made his M’s debut yesterday in CLE . . .
    2.2IP ~ NO hits ~ NO walks ~ 5 K’s
Larry Stone laughingly dubbed him “Starquhar” ;)

  15. MG May 19th, 2013 at 12:44 pm

It’s not surprising that the Yankees cancelled the game today when given the opportunity.

They’ve played lots of games the past couple of weeks, including the DH on a scheduled off day on Monday, Stewart is hurting, and CC already lost a game to weather a couple of starts ago.

So now they get the off day, get a sweep of the Jays, and move on to Baltimore with some rest…

  16. Shame Spencer May 19th, 2013 at 12:45 pm

Man, I was really looking forward to seeing Nuno on Tuesday. Sads.

I feel like they could fit this game in today at some point, but I’m assuming even if rain is an issue they can’t cut in on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball..? Not sure how that works.

  17. ObviousMan May 19th, 2013 at 12:45 pm

Ahh, donnybrook had all these complaints about the yankees planned for today and now he can no longer cry about cash and joe because there was a rainout. Poor donnybrook! The yankees were supposed to stink like he predicted and not 27-16. Ah well, better luck next time! Enjoy the Sunday!

  18. Nick in SF May 19th, 2013 at 12:46 pm

“Canceling a day game, 30 minutes before it’s scheduled start time, is ridiculous.”

Superfluous apostrophes are also ridiculous and set a bad example for youngsters. The commas are also unnecessary. Please take better care.

  19. MG May 19th, 2013 at 12:46 pm

Shame, I think the Yankees did it to give the team a much needed day off, it’s as simple as that…

  20. ObviousMan May 19th, 2013 at 12:46 pm

Exicardo cayones will one day be in the hall of fame.

  21. Against All Odds May 19th, 2013 at 12:48 pm

    I know they got radar,

    ————————

They don’t need radar they have Hal.

  22. Nick in SF May 19th, 2013 at 12:48 pm

Shame, the ESPN Sunday night game isn’t an issue here, that’s a long ways away. During the heat of the summer Texas plays home games opposite the Sunday night game, so it is permitted.

  23. DONNYBROOK May 19th, 2013 at 12:51 pm

I have seen Sunday home Ranger games get delayed, and run into the ESPN Sunday game. There is Nothing prohibiting that from happening.

  24. DONNYBROOK May 19th, 2013 at 12:53 pm

Saw Hal being all nicey-nicey with the fans at Picture Day yesterday. YUCK

  25. ObviousMan May 19th, 2013 at 12:55 pm

Lol donnybrook is whining again. Want some cheese with that whine, donnybrook? Still bitter that your prediction of an early season collapse for the yankees didn’t come true? Stay ” realistic!” Hahahaha.

  26. Madrugador May 19th, 2013 at 12:56 pm

With a forecast that predicts less than a 50% chance of precipitation through 4 PM, how do you cancel this game? Are teams allowed to do this upon their own discretion?

    Good morning/afternoon,

On Phelps…. That was my point last season… Freddy had no upside or future in the organization, yet they chose him over Phelps, even though he looked like he was ready for greater things… Also said that the west coast trip would hide Freddy’s shortcomings as it did, which in turn delayed Phelps promotion to the rotation… I just hope that they keep him in the rotation this time around so he can build his innings and we don’t face a “dead arm” episode next season.

Rich’s point is very good… Injuries have been a blessing in disguise, because it has forced the FO’s hand in to trusting rooks ( they have no choice )…

    Comnsnse,

I’ll be more than happy to discuss this issues off the blog… But you may not like what I have to say ;)

As it turns out, it is the free MLB.TV game of the day :)

  29. yankeehotelfoxtrot May 19th, 2013 at 1:18 pm

Did anyone hear how Pineda’s extended ST start went Friday? I haven’t seen any news about it yet.

  30. joeman May 19th, 2013 at 1:19 pm

is it raining ..radar shows it clear of rain and nothing coming that way

  31. joeman May 19th, 2013 at 1:19 pm

that was a very strange move

  32. Nick in SF May 19th, 2013 at 1:27 pm

Maybe the Yanks just didn’t want to swing their bats at the wicked knuckler.

    crazy decision for sure

  34. pkyankfan69 May 19th, 2013 at 1:34 pm

Joeman… Agreed, there is next to nothing on the radar in terms of rain headed our way… Seems like getting in this game would have been easy. I’m sure the Yanks don’t mind finally having an off day though, probably not a bad thing at all for the team.

  35. comet May 19th, 2013 at 1:40 pm

Who came off the 25 and 40 man rosters for Brignac? TIA.

Hey Luis and Nick. Also Shame and AAO.

This rainout has ruined my day.

  36. Against All Odds May 19th, 2013 at 1:47 pm

    Hey comet.

  37. CompassRosy May 19th, 2013 at 1:48 pm

Well, I guess Felix was due :(

  38. luis May 19th, 2013 at 1:50 pm

Hey Comet, Gonzales was DFA’d to make room for Brignac… it is a much needed day off, so I know it sucks, but it’s better for the team

  39. joecembrale May 19th, 2013 at 1:54 pm

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Yankees organization. Getting on the D train at 12:10 i checked the yankees website to ensure the game was still on. It was. Got off the D train at 12:35 in the Bronx and found out the game was cancelled. Really inconsiderate but much, MUCH more considerate than they have been in the past when they would make you wait around the Stadium until 2:30 or so trying to sell as much beer and hot-dogs as they could before calling it off. So, all in all, thank you Yankees.

  40. comet May 19th, 2013 at 2:03 pm

    Thanks Luis!
