Here’s the announcement from the Yankees…

The Yankees today acquired LHP David Huff off waivers from the Cleveland Indians. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, LHP Francisco Rondon was designated for assignment. A corresponding 25-man roster move will be made when Huff joins the Yankees (has 72 hours to do so).

Huff, 28, made three relief appearances with the Indians this season, allowing 5ER in 3.0IP. Originally selected by Cleveland in Supplemental Round A (39th overall pick) of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, Huff has appeared in 58 Major League games (52 starts) over parts of five seasons – all with the Indians (2009-13), going 18-26 with a 5.40 ERA (288.1IP, 173ER). He opened the 2013 season with Triple-A Columbus where he was 3-1 with a 4.07 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 24.1 innings pitched over nine games (two starts).

Additionally, the Yankees placed OF Curtis Granderson on the 15-day disabled list with a fracture of the left fifth metacarpal and recalled OF Brennan Boesch from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
