    Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 6m
Tyler Austin. Bomb. First right-handed HR here all year for the Thunder.

    he’s heating up

  2. yankeefeminista May 29th, 2013 at 12:23 pm

It was a shot. Austin showed up Teix who hacked at an off speed pitch k swinging. I had just yelled “Austin, show the Big Boys how it’s done. Lol.

  3. 86w183 May 29th, 2013 at 12:24 pm

Yanks have a good group of OF prospects, but Austin is the one I would bet on.

  4. blake May 29th, 2013 at 12:25 pm

I still think Austin might be ready by the end of the season….he took some time to adjust to AA but he’s starting to hit now as the whether warms up.

  5. Warning Track Power May 29th, 2013 at 12:30 pm

I just read the game in Trenton today started at 10:30 am
Is there a specific reason why games in Trenton start
    at 10:30 am?
Is this done because Trenton has 2 MLB players in the line-up?

  6. GregD May 29th, 2013 at 12:35 pm

I do hope Austin, Flores and Heathcott get heated up and get to AAA at the end of the season

  7. Warning Track Power May 29th, 2013 at 12:38 pm

Meredith needs to put her phone down already.
Look at her tweets: Posting a new message about every 3 minutes.
    Ridiculous.
She is the annoying person who has her phone in hand at all times
and then is seen typing away on her phone. Of course there is nothing
important about her messages, which makes her that much more annoying.

  8. blake May 29th, 2013 at 12:39 pm

heathcott is doing better….still not really found his way yet but he’s progressing at least.

  9. Ys Guy May 29th, 2013 at 12:42 pm

not happy that we lost, but those were two excellent ballgames the last couple of nights.

and watching them on SNY is much better than watching on YES.

get the split and get ready for the jackie bradley’s!

tex is in midseason form. strikeout, popout and walk.

Unfollow her, bro, she just live tweeted Tex and Youk’s rehab, which is pretty good coverage.

This boards frustration with Twitter is mind boggling.

  14. Ys Guy May 29th, 2013 at 12:49 pm

‘showed up’ a guy who hasnt hit in 7 months?!?

  15. yankeefeminista May 29th, 2013 at 12:50 pm

Slade’s had good AB’s; at least the games I’ve seen. Slade’s homer was oppo.

The 10:30 AM games are early b/c they are school day” games. Kids get to come out to the ball park instead of attending classes. Sounds good to me.

Greg D, jinxed Austin or Teix? I haven’t missed the lefty swing, but it was nice to see Teix in a uni again.

  16. bruceb May 29th, 2013 at 12:51 pm

I despise Twitter…and I’m thinking of closing my Facebook account after the abuse I’ve been subjected to by my Mets “friends” over the last two days. If the Yanks lose these next two games at home, I’ll probably be throwing my Mac, tablet and iPhone off the GW bridge too.

  17. Ys Guy May 29th, 2013 at 12:51 pm

i believe the game’s strart time has more to do with travel time for either them or their opponents for tomorrow.

I don’t have twitter or follow her. I read the tweets posted here on this Blog.
she might have been tweeting game updates, but then she went off track with stupid
inside jokes and discussions about nonsense.
If I was near her at the field I would tell her to put the damn phone
    away and watch the game.

Wouldn’t it make more sense AND be more satisfying if you threw your annoying NY Mets friends off the GW Bridge ??

  20. yankeefeminista May 29th, 2013 at 12:56 pm

No it is a school thing; there is no travel tomorrow; same teams playing at the Hammer (Waterfront).

  21. pat May 29th, 2013 at 12:58 pm

Sounds like Youk and Tex are in line to be back in NY on Friday.

  22. mick May 29th, 2013 at 12:58 pm

This is a world of followers which is why twitter exists.
    Great for the self promoter.

  23. Warning Track Power May 29th, 2013 at 1:00 pm

Will be fun to welcome back both Tex and Youk on Friday. About time those 2 were healthy enough to wear the pinstripes and help the team win.

Their return will stir up a debate as to which players should be sent down or released to make
    room for the 2 superstars.

  24. Jerkface May 29th, 2013 at 1:01 pm

she might have been tweeting game updates, but then she went off track with stupid
inside jokes and discussions about nonsense.

They are not inside jokes, she is tweeting about the music being played between innings at Trenton. What great things did you do in between innings at any baseball game? Heckle a side line reporter that has done a good job?

  25. Doreen May 29th, 2013 at 1:03 pm

Yep. Yankeefeminista is right. They have. Them about once a month.

I just left. I could not bear the heat anymore. Yankeefeminista, you there?

  26. Tyler May 29th, 2013 at 1:03 pm

I’m hoping that the Yanks are able to start moving up some prospects.. so tired of hearing about all the fast rising Cards prospects here. Wacha is making his big league debut tomorrow 11 months and 30 days after his last college pitch.

  27. mick May 29th, 2013 at 1:04 pm

Who else finds it obnoxious being around a bunch of people with their heads buried in their devices?

  28. blake May 29th, 2013 at 1:04 pm

    The cards are a machine

  29. UnKnown May 29th, 2013 at 1:07 pm

Tonight we ride. Maybe we will even live dangerously and put up a crooked number. Now that would really be something.

  30. Tyler May 29th, 2013 at 1:07 pm

Every single guy they bring up right now is amazing, whether they are heralded or not. Taveras is on the DL but he’ll be up eventually too. Hitting .317 in AAA.

  31. yankeefeminista May 29th, 2013 at 1:08 pm

Doreen, I left too. I’m heading to Princeton to get smoothies and solar spray for sunburn.

  32. Ys Guy May 29th, 2013 at 1:08 pm

    kids these days….

…why when i was a kid, you had to tweet uphill both ways!!!

  33. blake May 29th, 2013 at 1:09 pm

I don’t get annoyed very easily so I don’t unfollow people that often…..I think the last guy I did was Grant Paulson because he literally tweets about the redskins every 10 seconds ….or he did durin football season

  34. Jerkface May 29th, 2013 at 1:10 pm

While it may be comforting to see a lineup with some more established names in it on friday, I still think 2 games is way to short a rehab for Tex.

  35. mick May 29th, 2013 at 1:11 pm

I wouldn’t be surprised if Adams goes down for Youkilis.
    Nuno for Tex.
    Boesch for Andy.

    ———————————————————————————————————————
What does the music being played between innings have to do with Youk and Tex appearing in the games? NADA!
Has she done a good job? These sideline reporters with the blonde hair and all that make-up are a dime a dozen. The girl could be replaced in 1 second and nobody would know
    the difference.
Matter of fact, IMO, these side line reports in baseball are very, very unnecessary. Do they add value to the program? NO. They are only on camera because an exec seems to think the female is good looking and can help with the ratings. BIG DEAL!

  38. Tyler May 29th, 2013 at 1:13 pm

I have a bunch of friends who get easily annoyed at facebook and try to make these huge statements that they don’t need it in their lives by deactivating their accounts. For me, I don’t use it that often and I find it a good way to stay in touch with people. It doesn’t control my life. I think people just try to find reasons to get upset at something that’s not worth the energy it takes to get annoyed.

  39. Captain Clutch May 29th, 2013 at 1:14 pm

Tex needs at least 2 weeks in minor league games before being activated. Bringing him up after 2 games makes absolutely no sense.

  40. blake May 29th, 2013 at 1:15 pm

I think Adams stays …..he mashes lefties and their best chance vs LHP would be to have him, Youk , and Tex all in the lineup.

I hope he stays as the everyday 3B but worst case I think he stays to play vs lefties

    =============================
May be they are setting him up to fail , to keep the insurance and Overbay.
    Tex seems to be cooperating.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Adams goes down for Youkilis.
    Nuno for Tex.
    Boesch for Andy.
    —————————————————————————————————————–
Adams has to be sent down to make room for Youk. Is there really another choice? Of course the kid deserves to stay, but maybe he’ll get an opportunity in 2014.

Nuno for Tex makes a lot of sense because the Yankees would be foolish to release
Overbay at this point. Overbay has done more than enough to earn wearing a jersey for now.

Boesch for Andy-I forgot Boesch was on the team during the last 2 games.

  43. Hassey May 29th, 2013 at 1:16 pm

I brought my kids’ pool noodles to the stadium and snuck them into the bat rack.

Cano will use the green one and Wells the orange one.

  44. Tyler May 29th, 2013 at 1:16 pm

I’d like Adams to stay up but I think he’s going back down if Youk and Tex are activated at the same time. I don’t think they’ll keep him as a backup 3B because (unfortunately) that’s likely where Youk is going back to. They’ll tell him he’ll be back up soon and he probably will with injuries.

  45. bruceb May 29th, 2013 at 1:16 pm

Good suggestion. But might be easier if I just threw myself off.

Is it a necessity in todays world?

  48. Tyler May 29th, 2013 at 1:20 pm

    mick-

I absolutely could.. like I said I’m not on that often. It provides an easier way to stay in touch with people who are far away from you or that you wouldn’t have contact with normally. I know that it can consume some people’s lives but never has for me. Is it a necessity? No, but what really is besides your basic needs? Do I like it? Yes. Am I a little bit scared of the future in this digital world? Yes.

  49. mick May 29th, 2013 at 1:20 pm

  51. bruceb May 29th, 2013 at 1:21 pm

One of my friends received a Tweet from Chris Lopresti of WFAN yesterday.

I asked her whether Francesa Tweeted.

Her reply? “You must be joking. He could never talk in so few characters.”

  52. mick May 29th, 2013 at 1:22 pm

Facebook seems like another convenience that is making people lazier and lazier.
Do people use the telephone anymore? To talk, not text.

  53. Captain Clutch May 29th, 2013 at 1:23 pm

I think Overbay will stay on the roster for about a month to make sure that Tex is ok. Once they think that Tex is healthy they will release Overbay and bring up Adams. They can really use Adam’s bat against lefties and not playing Youk everyday might keep him healthy. Overbay has been good but they don’t have a role for him once the big boys come back.

Its a big problem for Francesca because now no one wants to listen to him.

  57. Warning Track Power May 29th, 2013 at 1:26 pm

    Captain-
Very good observation. I was going to suggest keeping Overbay around for a month
as insurance, but then I thought that 1 month might not be long enough.
If Tex can regain his all-star form, then Overbay is expendable. That leaves an opening
for Adams and for all the reasons you stated, Adams could help the club a lot more
as a back-up compared to Overbay.

I’m sure Overbay understand and won’t have any ill feelings towards the team or Cashman.

  58. Jerkface May 29th, 2013 at 1:27 pm

The telephone seems like another convenience that is making people lazier and lazier.

  60. 86w183 May 29th, 2013 at 1:30 pm

Texeira and Youkilis in, Boesch and Nuno out.

That’s the first move. Next, I guess will be Joba in and probably Claiborne out.

If so that makes Nix/Adams the # 4 OF, which is okay by me….. short term

  61. trisha - true pinstriped blue May 29th, 2013 at 1:31 pm

“With Wells in a slump, we need Cano to step up to the plate. Trouble is immensely talented player that he is, he is no leader. He’s either hot or he’s not.”

Has Robby had any season where he’s been consistent throughout the season? I really don’t remember at this point.

    ***********

The offense will be fine. Just a down period. It happens. Getting Youk back will give us some punch and a few others will wake from their slumber!

The days when the Yankees were in the top 3 both in pitching and hitting may be gone for good. But as has been the case with the Gints, superiority in one can help to make up for the other.

In 2010 when the Gints won the WS, they were 17th in offense and 1st in pitching. In 2012, when they won again, they were 12th in offense and 7th in pitching (more of a balance there).

And where were your NY Yankees? in 2010, 1st in offense, 15th in pitching.

    In 2012 – 2nd in offense, 12th in pitching.

    *******************

Yanks are currently 16th in offense, 7th in pitching. I’m thinking we can expect to see both of those numbers improve as the season goes on. I think both sets of numbers are pretty darned good when you look at the circumstances under which the Ys have been playing! And to have remained in first place for so much of the time. Not bad folks!

  62. Tyler May 29th, 2013 at 1:31 pm

Ugh, I hope not. Really like Claiborne.

  63. mick May 29th, 2013 at 1:31 pm

Francesa doesn’t use twitter because he wants folks to listen to his opinions on radio and tv, not on twitter.
They evidently are as he has the highest rated talk radio show of all time.

And to think that I use to walk to school with a transistor radio attached to my belt & an earplug to my ear to listen to AM radio! I can’t understand how folks today would want to go back in time & listen to anything on some portable device!! LOL!

Perhaps what goes around back then comes around again!

  68. mick May 29th, 2013 at 1:35 pm

    Brignac plays the OF.

  69. bruceb May 29th, 2013 at 1:37 pm

I don’t particularly like Francesa but I do enjoy listening to the first hour of his show while I eat my lunch at work. He has his opinions and won’t budge from them. He was convinced the Memphis Grizzlies were going to reach the NBA finals. When they were beaten 4-0 by the Spurs, you never heard a word about his prediction. Lol!

    Absolutely and unequivocally agree.

About Overbey – don’t be surprised if he’s around for a lot more than a month.

  71. 86w183 May 29th, 2013 at 1:38 pm

Joba was activated and Huff DFA… my bad.

One pitcher and one position player likely to go down/out when Tex/Youk return.

Keeps them connected, I guess…how did we survive without it?

  73. mick May 29th, 2013 at 1:43 pm

    Adams should be playing everyday.
As much as I like having him around, they will want to use Youkilis over him.
DHing against LH pitching wouldn’t be enough.
Tex will be at 1st everyday. Maybe 1-2 days a week vs LH at 1st for Youk while Tex DH’s.

  74. Jerkface May 29th, 2013 at 1:43 pm

Mick-Adams has been playing everyday while Youk is recovering. What more could he ask for or the fans ask for? Youk is returning. This should be a positive. No telling how well Youk
will be playing. Hoping that he returns to form and does not get injured again anytime
    soon.

  80. mick May 29th, 2013 at 1:51 pm

when nunez returns , brignac goes.
    leaves nix as the BUIF.
if they keep 13 players and 12 pitchers then it’s
Youk 3b, nunez ss, cano, tex, overbay, nix.
    OF = wells, gardy, ichiro
    dh-hafner
    C-Cervelli, Stewart
13th player is either Adams or Boesch but when grandy gets back they are both gone.

Joba was activated last night and Huff was DFA’d to make room for him. So they have cleared a 40 man roster spot for Teixeira but will have to make a 25 man roster move to get him on.

trish-it is indeed addictive and to a HS/college kid the cool thing to do no doubt…i mean everybody’s doing it so i have to or be left behind with no friends….it’s sad and not a substitute for face to face communication. makes the world an even more impersonal place with no privacy whatsoever.

  85. mick May 29th, 2013 at 2:01 pm

if jeter and alex get back and the rest stay healthy 2more have to go or carry only 11 pitchers and drop 1 more player…could be overbay.

    Home.

    MtU -

Pitcher for other side is Patrick Cooper. Did a nice job except for the 2 HRs he gave up. He’s my younger daughter’s age. That freaks me out!!!

I didn’t see Markovitz or Cashman. They must have been wherever they were hiding the air conditioning. Brutal. I ended up buying sunscreen and visors, both of which I had at home and if I had a clue the sun was going to come out and the temperature was going to double (I exaggerate only a little), I would have brought with me instead of having to spend money on same. Three waters and large lemonade, too, to stay somewhat hydrated. I do not envy those guys on the field.

What’s this about Granderson having surgery?

And what rumor about Nieves becoming Hitting Coach for Yankees? ML level? What’s going on with K Long? Or is this just some unfounded nonsense?

As for communicating via device, it has its usefulness. I text my husband because I cannot reach him by phone at work, and texting works for us.

I kept in touch with you guys today, and I found it a little cumbersome and won’t do it again. It’s difficult to read the screen, and I missed a few things. But it’s really not fair to condemn the use of the technology with such a broad brush.

  87. Doreen May 29th, 2013 at 2:05 pm

That’s Marakovitz. And I apologize for all the iPhone typos. It was really hard to see the screen in the full sunshine.

You don’t have to be a sabermetrics guy to wonder what in the heck Eric Wedge was talking about. @JonHeymanCBS.

    this whole story is strange

Oh, and Warning Track Power, I also had a bad feeling about Mo’s save opportunity last night, before it started to happen. Probably because you figure he’s not going to be perfect and that first blown save was going to happen sooner or later.

  90. Warning Track Power May 29th, 2013 at 2:12 pm

    Doreen-
Sure, I see what you’re saying. Seems like all the planets were lined up last night against Mo
last night. Just that sneaky suspicion that he would blow a save for the 1st time all year.

  91. bruceb May 29th, 2013 at 2:17 pm

I was 100 percent sure Mo would close the game out. I’ve been watching the Mets all year and the only team they have shown any fight against is the Yankees. It’s their World Series. Season ends for them Thursday…and possibly for us too if we lose both games.

  92. Ys Guy May 29th, 2013 at 2:18 pm

what, exactly is your complaint? the people don’t call you enough? is there a problem with too many people with their heads down that you can’t see their eyes?

the text function, twitter and facebook are all just things you can choose to use or not. why all the hatred? how is any of this hurting you?

you guys sound like my father’s generation

‘TURN THAT G– D— ROCK AND ROLL DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  93. 86w183 May 29th, 2013 at 2:27 pm

It was a typical blown save for Mo… an off-the-end-of-the-bat bloop down the left field line for a double… grounder up the middle… bloop single for the ballgame

One hit solid, two lucky shots that found open grass

As for hi-tech… I text a good bit, Facebook infrequently and do not Tweet. My wife and daughters will G-Chat from opposite ends of the house, however (when my grown girls are at home, that is). Annoys the crap out of me

  94. Doreen May 29th, 2013 at 2:33 pm

    86w183 -

That’s cause they can keep secrets from you that way!! LOL (J/k)

The only time texting bothers me is when people do it when they’re in company with people they’re supposed to be visiting with. (Exceptions exist – just like phone calls that have to be taken – of course).

mick – technology can indeed be a double-edged sword. It used to drive my dad crazy. I remember him saying that someday people would be able to just sit on their couches and push buttons and never have to move.

Obesity is on the uprise, and it’s become a major problem with children and adolescents. And let’s be honest about it not try to sugarcoat it. Kids spend their lives behind computer screens, texting on cell phones, and in front of television.

And how about people talking on the cell phones as they drive? I swear that if I see someone driving without being on the cell phone, it’s the exception.

Then there’s the question of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields being possibly carcinogenic to people. I stopped using an electric blanket when I read that – and that was quite a few years ago. I know there are also questions about high cell-phone usage and brain tumors/brain can*er. I know the studies aren’t definitive, but I like to err on the side of caution. :)

The world is a very different place. Human interaction has taken second place to communication by electronic device and social media. Some people may see this as progress but I believe there are a host of secondary problems (social, psychosocial, and physical) that we will see as a result. Just the way it is.
