    boy after Overbay…..yuck

  2. fantasygame101 May 29th, 2013 at 3:56 pm

hope boesch and brignac grabs this small opportunity. the ss problem has been discussed to death. But this team also needs another of and maybe if boesch starts producing, we can have the ideal platoon of ichiro and wells.

  3. blake May 29th, 2013 at 3:56 pm

this literally might be the worst Yankee lineup I’ve seen in 20 years…..of course they’ll probably score 10 runs

  4. bruceb May 29th, 2013 at 3:58 pm

No Wells? Lineup ends at 4 tonight. Now you know why they are so desperate to get Tex back by Friday.

  5. pat May 29th, 2013 at 3:59 pm

Here’s the article from Crasnick referenced in the Cashman A/B team tweet.

man this lineup s ucks balls. Cant have the reinforcements return soon enough. The bloom is definitely fading for the bargain basement brigade. This past week has defintely shown that the lineup is in severe need of some sorely needed muscle.

That being said, they certainly held their own for the first 2 months and cannot be commended enough for that … but its time to get “well” and fast because the dog days are coming and pretty soon the Yankees are not going to be able to expect to win games 3-2 day after day. There is going to come a time this season where the offense is going to have to carry the pitching and consistently put crooked numbers up on the scoreboard.

  7. Russell Munson May 29th, 2013 at 4:06 pm

There were worse lineups this week.

  8. igotid88 May 29th, 2013 at 4:07 pm

And this lineup will score 11 runs

  9. Tackelberry May 29th, 2013 at 4:09 pm

    boy after Overbay…..yuck

Why? the lineup the last couple of nights was so great? Lets see what happens before we use the girly word “yuck”

  10. Wave Your Hat May 29th, 2013 at 4:09 pm

The Yanks need an extra dose of magic tonight.

  11. fantasygame101 May 29th, 2013 at 4:10 pm

cashman prefers an A(verage) team than a B(etter) team?

  12. blake May 29th, 2013 at 4:11 pm

“Why? the lineup the last couple of nights was so great? Lets see what happens before we use the girly word “yuck”

how is that a girly word? And the lineup the last couple of nights scored a combined 2 runs in 2 games.

  13. Nick in SF May 29th, 2013 at 4:16 pm

I just did a cursory review of every unlocked tweet ever and 58% of “yuck” usages were tweeted by female users, so there you have it.

  14. Nick in SF May 29th, 2013 at 4:20 pm

FYI, “blech” is tweeted by males at a 79% rate, so that’s really the better way to go.

  15. Tackelberry May 29th, 2013 at 4:20 pm

“how is that a girly word? And the lineup the last couple of nights scored a combined 2 runs in 2 games.”

CMon! WHo says YUCK anymore? teenage girls thats who. And you made my point. The lineup the last 2 nights scored exactly 2 runs, so getting Hafner in there and sitting Wells and giving Boesch a shot can’t hurt. Also, Brignac had a decent game last night. Give him another shot.

  16. blake May 29th, 2013 at 4:22 pm

“CMon! WHo says YUCK anymore? teenage girls thats who.”

I guess you’re an authority on what people are saying these days?

  17. Wave Your Hat May 29th, 2013 at 4:23 pm

As presently constituted, the Yanks can’t roll out a good or even decent lineup so there’s no point arguing about just how bad the lineup is.

  18. Nick in SF May 29th, 2013 at 4:24 pm

I can’t break down the whole at-bat from memory, but the first swing of Hafner’s PH appearance last night looked exactly like the first swing of the previous night’s PH appearance: a vicious cut that didn’t seem too at risk of connecting with the baseball. I wonder if he’ll be chomping at the bit again in his first AB tonight.

  19. bruceb May 29th, 2013 at 4:25 pm

Yes, we know Wells is in a slump and could probably do with a day off, but if Youk and Tex are really coming up on Friday, why not wait until then? Don’t get playing both Brignac and Nix either.

  20. Tackelberry May 29th, 2013 at 4:25 pm

“I guess you’re an authority on what people are saying these days?”

That one is knid of obvious. You’ve been watching too many Brady Bunch reruns

  21. Russell Munson May 29th, 2013 at 4:27 pm

“FYI, “blech” is tweeted by males at a 79% rate, so that’s really the better way to go.”

But this doesn’t include the really manly men who wouldn’t use Twitter. It’s a higher sampling of girly men, if we’re being misogynistic.

  22. champ809 May 29th, 2013 at 4:28 pm

Should have played DAdams at 3B and Romine behind the plate tonight….

  23. blake May 29th, 2013 at 4:30 pm

“That one is knid of obvious. You’ve been watching too many Brady Bunch reruns”

    anyway…..stay classy.

  24. Nick in SF May 29th, 2013 at 4:33 pm

Actually, Russell Munson, I filtered out the tweets from all males who follow Justin Bieber to get the overly-girly men out of the sample.

And I filtered in random overheard snippets of conversation at truck stops, biker bars, and lumberjack competitions. I’m waiting for some more data from the Iditerod to update my findings.

  25. Niblick May 29th, 2013 at 4:34 pm

Not yuck. Suck, suck and more suck.

  26. Wave Your Hat May 29th, 2013 at 4:34 pm

“Should have played DAdams at 3B and Romine behind the plate tonight…”

Adams is headed to Scranton on Friday so get used to it. And I can’t see how any combination of our infielders right now is particularly better than any other combination. It all is more or less offensively and (unless Brignac is at SS) defensively challenged.

  27. Doreen May 29th, 2013 at 4:34 pm

A new low in Lohud debates. SMH

Yuck! and Blech! to that that. ;)

  28. blake May 29th, 2013 at 4:35 pm

“Adams is headed to Scranton on Friday so get used to it.”

    that’d be a terrible decision

  29. Wave Your Hat May 29th, 2013 at 4:36 pm

    “that’d be a terrible decision”

No choice that I see. Got to have a back-up SS, so Nixy stays.

  30. blake May 29th, 2013 at 4:37 pm

“No choice that I see. Got to have a back-up SS, so Nixy stays.”

    I’d send Nova down instead.

  31. CountryClub May 29th, 2013 at 4:37 pm

Buster Olney ?@Buster_ESPN 3m Based on roster surplus and thin relief market, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if NYY swapped Joba Chamberlain sometime before July 31.

  32. Nick in SF May 29th, 2013 at 4:38 pm

I like to be part of the highs and lows of LoHud.

Speaking of which, what a great movie!

    Braves could use him

  34. CountryClub May 29th, 2013 at 4:38 pm

Buster Olney ?@Buster_ESPN 2m Joba’s fastball velo has continued at a solid 94 mph this year, and he’s a free agent after the year, so getting some return would make sense

  35. Nick in SF May 29th, 2013 at 4:40 pm

I will be sad if Joba gets traded, whether it makes sense for the team or not.

joba to the reds for one of their catcher. joba and prospect for McCann.

  38. CountryClub May 29th, 2013 at 4:41 pm

Mike Axisa ?@mikeaxisa 1h Looks like Girardi got wind of Hefner’s platoon splits with that lineup. .170/.243/.286 vs. RHB and .325/.421/.663 vs.LHB.

Makes sense if Claiborne continues to succeed in that role

  40. Wave Your Hat May 29th, 2013 at 4:42 pm

    “I’d send Nova down instead.”

Numbers game. I think. The Yanks currently are carrying 13 pitchers. If they activate Andy, Tex and Youk my guess is they will send down 2 pitchers and one position player. They won’t let Overbay go until they see how Tex is. So it’s Nix, Adams or Boesch, isn’t it?

  41. CountryClub May 29th, 2013 at 4:43 pm

I just dont think Joba alone brings much back…especially since he’s a FA after this year.

  42. Wave Your Hat May 29th, 2013 at 4:43 pm

They could try to trade Nova for a passable corner outfielder, which is what I’d like to see them do.

  43. Nick in SF May 29th, 2013 at 4:44 pm

Nuno goes down for Andy, right?

  44. CountryClub May 29th, 2013 at 4:50 pm

Nuno goes down for Andy, right?

    ————

Probably. Let him go down so he can keep pitching every 5 days.

  45. CountryClub May 29th, 2013 at 4:51 pm

Buster Olney ?@Buster_ESPN 8m About Joba: This is all speculation at this point. But if you connect the dots on need/surplus/his free agency, time is right to deal him.

  46. jacksquat May 29th, 2013 at 4:55 pm

Unless the Yankees are pissed off about shush-gate, I don’t think they’ll trade joba. They like depth.

  47. Russell Munson May 29th, 2013 at 4:56 pm

Yeah, if they were to lose Mo or Robertson having Joba around would be pretty important.

  48. mick May 29th, 2013 at 4:57 pm
