A few quick mid-day notes…

• Robinson Cano currently leads the American League all-star voting at second base. In the first voting update, Cano has the second-most votes in the league behind Miguel Cabrera and ahead of Mike Trout. Position by position leaders: C Joe Mauer, 1B Chris Davis, 2B Robinson Cano, 3B Miguel Cabrera, SS Elvis Andrus, OF Mike Trout, OF Adam Jones, OF Torii Hunter, DH David Ortiz

• Aside from Cano, only two Yankees rank top five at their position: Derek Jeter is fifth at shortstop (obviously he won’t be playing in the game) and Kevin Youkilis is fifth at third base. Ichiro Suzuki is the Yankees highest vote-getter in the outfield. He ranks 15th.

• Chien-Ming Wang has been named the International League Pitcher of the Week. He went 2-0 with no runs allowed through 14 innings. Opponents hit just .167 against him last week. For the year, Wang is 2-2 with a 2.33 ERA and the second-lowest walk rate in the league.

• Our friend Bryan Hoch notes that Michael Pineda will pitch in an extended spring training game tomorrow. It will be Pineda’s first appearance since the cracked fingernail.
