I wish the audio were a little better, but this is video of Mariano Rivera meeting with a group of high school and college kids at Safeco Field before last night’s game. Everyone in the group was hoping to work in baseball at some point, and Rivera talked to them mostly about his own career and his thoughts on success. The video above is Rivera answering the very first question, which seemed simple enough: What’s allowed him be so consistent in the closer role? Rivera’s answer was basically a one-sided conversation about life in general. Stuff like this is the reason Rivera is revered as more than a baseball player.
