    Repost:
Yankees are in a tough spot this trade deadline. IMO the only pitching that will bring you some significant piece back is cost controlled pitching that you don’t want to get rid of. Because they are rentals, Hughes and Chamberlain will not bring anything significant or near ML ready. That said, if a team really wants one of those guys going forward and was offered a 10 day negotiating window it could bring a little more quality.

  2. Niblick June 29th, 2013 at 3:51 pm

    Worst lineup yet?

  3. Run it Out June 29th, 2013 at 3:52 pm

    Niblick

Maybe but don’t you say that every day or is that someone else?

  4. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 3:54 pm

    RIO-

I don’t totally agree with you but I do agree that a negotiating window might increase value.

  5. blake June 29th, 2013 at 3:55 pm

I have nothing else to say

  6. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 3:56 pm

    Blake-

    Forever, or just for today.

    :)

  7. Niblick June 29th, 2013 at 3:56 pm

Run it Out – I do. It’s a running joke, in a sense (as Joe G would phrase it). Sorry if you don’t like it.

  8. blake June 29th, 2013 at 3:58 pm

    MTU,

On the Yankees ….until they do something worth talking about. I do have some 2 inch think ribeyes marinating so we can talk about that !

  9. Nick in SF June 29th, 2013 at 4:01 pm

    “the rest are negative WAR”

So we’d be better off trading all of them for a single WAR-neutral injured pitcher?

If the Yanks shop Hughes, they need to get a prospect that is better or has more potential than what they would be able to draft in the supplemental first round next year. Yanks will probably offer Hughes a QO, and some team will probably sign Hughes to a multiyear deal despite his struggles.

  11. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 4:04 pm

    Blake-

No one in their right mind would be BBQ’ing around here unless their BBQ area was air conditioned.

We’re set for 112. Vegas for the all time high 117.

I’d be in the tall, cool mountains except I am already recovering from a recent bout of altitude sickness.

    :(

  12. tucker June 29th, 2013 at 4:05 pm

Blake’s ribeyes are certainly meatier than this lineup.

  13. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:07 pm

Not catching jays today, getting Ayrton Senna’s Prelude fixed.

  14. J. Alfred Prufrock June 29th, 2013 at 4:08 pm

I repeat: why do I feel they are on the verge of
Doing something I will not like…

  15. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 4:09 pm

    JAP-

Give us an example of something you wouldn’t like ?

  16. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:12 pm

Alfred, I wrote u a substantial e-mail about Carew being my favourite technical hitter.

  17. J. Alfred Prufrock June 29th, 2013 at 4:12 pm

Jmills I know I owe thee some
Emails. :) I agree they should have let Melky DH more. Hitting .359/.892 OPS as such. CAn you & Jose kick a Little Boston ass tonight.? As a personal favor. I will requite thee for’t. :)

  18. Run it Out June 29th, 2013 at 4:14 pm

JAP…You probably have that feeling because I sense desperation is upon them and that usually leads to bad moves. None of us like bad moves.

  19. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:15 pm

Alfred, me and Gilles Villeneuve are right on it, great to see you! :)

  20. J. Alfred Prufrock June 29th, 2013 at 4:15 pm

    Mtu – I M on the
Go but what I don’t want to see is running to stand still.. We need to win a few games and jmills needs to lend a hand so that the suits Re momentArilympacified from destroying the future

  21. J. Alfred Prufrock June 29th, 2013 at 4:16 pm

Are momentArily pacified I might have said :)

  22. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 4:17 pm

I don’t think the Yankees are desperate because if they were something would have already happened.

This offensive malaise has been going on for quite some time.

I think the fans may feel desperate.

  23. J. Alfred Prufrock June 29th, 2013 at 4:19 pm

RIO – they’re bad enough when
It’s smooths sailing! Under duress? Heaven help us! Phelpsie Gardy CAno-sie please forestall! :)

  24. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:19 pm

    Alfred, tame that device! :D

  25. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 4:20 pm

    JAP-

I don’t think they’ll ruin the future. I think they’ll trade who think they think they can part with.

IMO we have excess in a number of areas.

We have tons of pitching. Starters and releivers.

    4 OF prospects.

    And 2/3 catching prospects.

We have an extra 2B prospect.

    etc.

  26. Run it Out June 29th, 2013 at 4:21 pm

    MTU
Good point. As long as folks are still at the park sucking down Buds and eating Lobells (sp) sandwiches they’re not desperate.

  27. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:21 pm

As long as John Farrell greets disappointment, I’ll be relatively ” Happy “, Keith Richards.

  28. sar515 June 29th, 2013 at 4:22 pm

Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, Washington Nats, Philadelphia Phillies, LA Dodgers…all high profile teams with worse records than the Yanks.

Do you really think the Yanks will be worse in the 2nd half??

2 games behind in the Wild Card.

And you’re talking about them being totally out of this season.

One good hot streak…and this whole blog will change.\

    Just sayin’…

  29. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 4:22 pm

    JAP-

The team is sliding and needs O help badly.

If it slides too far the season is over.

You want to wait till mid to late July to find out ?

  30. sar515 June 29th, 2013 at 4:23 pm

Anyone else take a shot at Randy Ruiz???

  31. Hans Davenport June 29th, 2013 at 4:23 pm

    J. Alfred Prufrock June 29th, 2013 at 4:08 pm
I repeat: why do I feel they are on the verge of
Doing something I will not like

Because if a writer traveling with the team has brought it up, this is in the works. Plus the Yankees will overpay. They always do. Young is above scrap heap but he’s not exactly top shelf either. Better then mediocre but nothing special. They’ll pay too much simply just for that. If they make a sensible deal I’ll be surprised.

  32. Nick in SF June 29th, 2013 at 4:24 pm

“why do I feel they are on the verge of
Doing something I will not like…”

Because you can sense the growing desperation on the part of ownership to keep the gravy train moving and on the part of Cashman to do anything to save his job and then because of your fundamental mistrust of their ability to gauge their true current position, their true needs moving forward, and the true worth of the players they already have in the system?

    That’s just my guess.

  33. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 4:25 pm

    RIO-

The further the Team slides the more it will affect the bottom line.

W/o signifcant ofensive help that is what is going to happen.

The Pitching cannot carry the Team forever on 3 runs a game.

  34. J. Alfred Prufrock June 29th, 2013 at 4:26 pm

    Jmills – love ya, man!

    Gotta run
    But want
To leave this thought with our brand new commenter sar515: what would you say about trying toget Jimenez and dejesus? I’ll check later for your reply :)

    See ya later guys

  35. mick June 29th, 2013 at 4:26 pm

    AGAIN WITH WELLS AT CLEANUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:26 pm

Sar515, ” 5:15 “, is a Who song off their Quadrophenia double album.

  37. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:29 pm

Alfred, ” love ya’ man “, ditto. Now you belong in the Rush air drumming club. :) safe travels.

  38. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 4:29 pm

Wells is only several months removed from being a stud.

    :)

  39. mick June 29th, 2013 at 4:29 pm

What time does this guy wake up?

    39m
    Thomas Neal ? @TdaddyNeal

Thank you Lord for allowing me to wake up & see another day.

  40. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:33 pm

I can’t help but wish Vernon well.

  41. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:36 pm

Mick, I have a new tip for you, Birdy, ” Skinny Love “. This young lady has incomparable talent and probably a work ethic to match. I found her looking up Peter Gabriel’s soundtrack for the film, ” Birdy “, with Mathew Modine and Nicholas Cage – highly recommend on all fronts.

  42. sar515 June 29th, 2013 at 4:37 pm

    which jimenez?

  43. blake June 29th, 2013 at 4:42 pm

    MTU,

I don’t want to rub it in but it’s 79 degrees here.

  44. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:44 pm

I’ve got a receiving prospect named, Jimenez, and I hear he’s better than, Jerry Grote :)

  45. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:45 pm

blake, its humid enough up here, I can’t envision, Atlanta.

  46. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 4:48 pm

    Blake-

    Too late.

It would be 79 here too. At 10,000 ft.

    :(

  47. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:50 pm

MTU, get in a racing car out there, you’ll lose ten pounds in two hours!

  48. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:52 pm

Good lord, Phil Collins is doing, ” Heat Wave”, on la radio.

  49. tomingeorgia June 29th, 2013 at 4:52 pm

    jmills and blake,
A while ago, it was 92, with 83% humidity. A little storm rolled through, dropping it to 88. Good day to be inside.

jmills, I watched that gem that Dickey put up the other day. That guy will, if he wants to, pitch as long as Hoyt Wilhelm, with better results.

  50. bruceb June 29th, 2013 at 4:53 pm

What time does this guy wake up?

Lol, Mick. I don’t know what time he wakes up but I sure will be happy the day the Good Lord breaks his alarm clock.

  51. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 4:54 pm

Hoyt Wilhelm, now there’s a name we need to connect with more; thanks Sargeant!

    That’s just my guess

That would be mine. Shamefully enough, at this moment Michael Young is a significant upgrade to the current team on the field. That alone scares me. What scares me more is that if this front office would sign Suzuki to a multi year, how little would it take for them to do the same with Young?

  53. Tabbert June 29th, 2013 at 4:56 pm

It Would be Interesting to see what the asking price for Young, and Ruiz would be.

    Immediately:
    Gardy
    Young
    Cano
    Hafner
    Ichiro
    Almonte
    Ruiz
    Overbay
    Nix

    Down the road:

    Jeter
    Gardy
    Young
    Cano
    Granderson
    Hafner
    Ichiro/Almonte
    Overbay
    Ruiz

Organize the lineup anyway you want, but that group of guys would be a massive improvement over the current lineup. If Arod does eventually make it back to the bronx, even better.

  54. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 5:07 pm

I wouldn’t give up a whole heck of a lot for Young.

    I’d try Mustelier first.

  55. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 5:11 pm

MTU, I have to ask, what would you give up for me? :) I have to let u know, as the Pretenders song goes, I’m precious. ( I’m still trying to do a deal to get Naomi Watts in these parts )

  56. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 5:13 pm

    Mills-

A prime succulent plus a tour of southern Utah’s scenic spots.

  57. jmills June 29th, 2013 at 5:16 pm

Geez MTU, thanks, apparently, I’m worth a lot!

  58. austinmac June 29th, 2013 at 5:17 pm

    MTU,

Only a balmy 106 here today. Don’t worry we do have plenty of humidity to go along with it. Suppose to be better after today.

  59. austinmac June 29th, 2013 at 5:19 pm

    Jmills,

Maybe it is time for me to stop all of my sobbin’. I love Ray Davies lyrics.

  60. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 5:23 pm

    Mac-

I left humidity behind long ago. Fortunately.

I prefer the sauna to the steam bath.

    :)

  61. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 5:24 pm

    Mills-

    You’re priceless.

    ;)

  62. tucker June 29th, 2013 at 5:29 pm

Not much humidity here in Arizona, but we’re at 118 today …

  63. BIG AL June 29th, 2013 at 5:33 pm

    MTU -

    How was your trip?

  64. BIG AL June 29th, 2013 at 5:40 pm

    Later ……………

  65. Nick in SF June 29th, 2013 at 5:43 pm

So as not to cause offense, I will not comment on the weather in San Francisco this afternoon.

  66. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 5:49 pm

    Al-

It sucked because I couldn’t go.

I developed a case of high altitude sickness from a hike the day before.

Because of my stupidity Mrs. MTU was forced to go to Vegas by herself.

They took a whole of tests which take approx. 7 to 10 days.

The Specialist surmises that it may be an adverse reaction to a earlier rabies vaccine.

She said there have been bad batches out there.

She suspects a condition know as “Vasculitis” which usually results in a good outcome with the right treatment and patience.

Thanks for asking. I’ll let know the final answer when we get it.

  67. MTU June 29th, 2013 at 6:02 pm

Looking forward to seeing if the Mission Possible Man can stifle the Showaltimore bats.

Got to be on his game to win against those guys w our O.

    ;)

(There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.

I wanted to send you this tiny remark so as to say thanks a lot again for your personal nice guidelines you have discussed above. This has been so shockingly generous of you giving extensively exactly what many individuals would’ve advertised as an e book to help make some bucks for themselves, primarily considering the fact that you could possibly have tried it if you ever considered necessary. Those points likewise served as a great way to fully grasp the rest have a similar zeal really like mine to learn a great deal more in terms of this issue. I think there are several more enjoyable situations ahead for those who read through your site.
