RHP Chris Tillman (9-2, 3.72)
Tillman vs. Yankees

TIME/TV: 8:05 p.m., ESPN

WEATHER: It was raining this afternoon, but the tarp has been off the field for quite a while. There’s at least a fighting chance of getting through this one without a problem.

UMPIRES: HP Paul Schrieber, 1B Adam Hamari, 2B Eric Cooper, 3B Jeff Kellogg

BROOM BREAKERS: The Yankees are looking to avoid being swept by Baltimore for the first time since April of 2005. That previous sweep was also a three-game series at Camden Yards. They are looking to avoid being swept for the fourth time overall this season, second in a series of at least three games (also that mid-June series in Oakland).

BAD BREAK: The Yankees lost last night despite getting 11 hits and scoring three runs for the second straight game. It was their second such loss this season, both against Baltimore.

BROKEN BATS: The Yankees have homered in just three of their last 10 games and have hit just two homers in their past 11 road games since June 7. They are 9-24 when not hitting a home run this season.

UPDATE, 8:41 p.m.: Not sure where previous updates have gone. Having some technical issues apparently. Anyway… David Adams’ at-bats have been much better recently. He’s not hitting the cover off the ball, but he’s giving himself a better chance and taking some walks. He just walked to load the bases with two outs here in the second, Yankees down 1-0.

UPDATE, 8:47 p.m.: Bases loaded walk by Gardner has brought in a run and tied the game at 1. Three straight Yankees have reached base with two outs in this second inning.

UPDATE, 8:52 p.m.: Chris Davis is like Jose Bautista a few years ago. Another homer and the Orioles are up 2-1 in the second. That’s 31 for Davis before the end of June!

UPDATE, 9:17 p.m.: The Orioles have already hit three solo homers, and now their starting pitcher is making behind-the-back plays on would-be singles. Now they’re just showing off. And leading 3-1.

UPDATE, 9:54 p.m.: Hey look, Cano just homered. This is actually a one-run game and each team has five hits. Somehow it feels like the Orioles are in complete control.

UPDATE, 10:25 p.m.: Two on with one out, the Yankees popped up a couple of balls and couldn’t do anything. It’s still a one-run game, and the Orioles still seem to be in complete control.

UPDATE, 10:34 p.m.: Single and double, and now the Orioles are in business and the Yankees are into the bullpen. Here’s Boone Logan to face Flaherty.

UPDATE, 10:35 p.m.: Scratch that. Valencia pinch hitting.

UPDATE, 10:43 p.m.: Not enough arm from Gardner to get the out at the plate. It’s now a 4-2 Orioles lead in the seventh.

UPDATE, 10:49 p.m.: Logan gets the strikeout to end the inning, but the damage is done and the Orioles are up by two with two to play.

  4. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:12 pm

Thanks, mick, I saw your response. I responded to it. Maybe later we can pick this back up. But thanks for helping me out.

    :(

  5. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:13 pm

Niblick – right into the winning column, that’s where!

  6. Run it Out June 30th, 2013 at 8:13 pm

    Get ‘em Hiro. No sweep!

  7. UnKnown June 30th, 2013 at 8:13 pm

    Regulators Mount Up!!

  8. pkyankfan69 June 30th, 2013 at 8:13 pm

My buddy who lives down in DC is friends with Ryan Flaherty… Haven’t met him but supposed to be a cool guy… Don’t like it at the Yankees expense but overall don’t mind seeing him do well.

  9. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:15 pm

    Till THAT!

  10. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:16 pm

Dismal is a kind word for offense in June.

    Let’s change that tonight.

  11. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 8:18 pm

    Let’s Go Yankees!

  12. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:18 pm

Nothing worse than a team with swagger.

  13. Triple Short of a Cycle June 30th, 2013 at 8:19 pm

Remember when Trisha said offense doesn’t matter

  14. Hassey June 30th, 2013 at 8:20 pm

Do you think Yankee hitters even realize that a new game has started, or are they in some kind if zone where it now just seems like some sort of recurring unbroken loop of flatulence?

  15. Niblick June 30th, 2013 at 8:20 pm

Robbie has an OBP of .581 over his last 31 PA.

  16. Run it Out June 30th, 2013 at 8:22 pm

    Squeeze much blue?

  17. chicken_stanley June 30th, 2013 at 8:22 pm

I travel for work 100%… average only one day at home per week so I don’t carry cable or internet at home… not on the road this week and really really wanted to watch the game so I burned some hotel loyalty points in order to watch the game… what kind if idiot am I?

  18. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:22 pm

“Remember when Trisha said offense doesn’t matter”

Find where I said that and we can discuss it. I don’t mean your interpretation, I mean the post where I said offense doesn’t matter.

  19. Niblick June 30th, 2013 at 8:22 pm

    And it begins.

  20. Niblick June 30th, 2013 at 8:22 pm

    Or ends.

  21. Run it Out June 30th, 2013 at 8:23 pm

Hiro got squeezed into that one.

  22. Triple Short of a Cycle June 30th, 2013 at 8:23 pm

Well so much for this game

  23. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:23 pm

It definitely doesn’t help that the offense has to come from behind in every game.

  24. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:23 pm

    Arod karma.

  25. tucker June 30th, 2013 at 8:23 pm

Would be so nice to have a player like Machado …

  26. joecembrale June 30th, 2013 at 8:23 pm

This Machado guy is really starting to get on my nerves.

  27. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:24 pm

If Hiroki can hold it at one, maybe the offense can break through.

  28. luis June 30th, 2013 at 8:24 pm

Not a good start…. But anyway, Go Yankees….Enjoy the rest of the game…Good night

  29. igotid88 June 30th, 2013 at 8:24 pm

Why isn’t Gardner working the count anymore?

  30. Hassey June 30th, 2013 at 8:24 pm

Our shortstop tonite should be Punxatawny Phil

  31. Shame Spencer June 30th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

Just got in and turned on the game.. we’re already down??? I’ll assume based on my twitter feed that Machado had something to do with this. I hate that guy.

  32. pkyankfan69 June 30th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

    Wow, sick play by Nix

  33. Triple Short of a Cycle June 30th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

Find where I said that and we can discuss it. I don’t mean your interpretation, I mean the post where I said offense doesn’t matter.

    —————————–

You said pitching wins in baseball and you disregarded people’s concerns with the offense starting last year. You have said on many occasions that if you pitch well you will make the playoffs

  34. Hassey June 30th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

They score more runs when no one is on base than we can with them loaded

  35. tucker June 30th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

    Nice job Nixy

  36. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

Of course the problem is that unless our pitching is sterling, there has been a problem.

Yankees not giving in. Great stop by Nix.

  37. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 8:26 pm

    nix, nice play!

  38. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:27 pm

I am really tired of hearing about the O’s and their fans during these games. Who cares. They finally had a good year last year so people in the area showed up. Good job finally winning some games, now make the play offs again.

  39. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:27 pm

‘You have said on many occasions that if you pitch well you will make the playoffs’

Sure, and I still think that. But you have to pitch well!

  40. Triple Short of a Cycle June 30th, 2013 at 8:27 pm

    Trisha,

KC has the best pitching in the AL and they are under 500

  41. balotin June 30th, 2013 at 8:28 pm

We are still in this game as long as we can hold them at 1. Go Yanks!!

  42. Run it Out June 30th, 2013 at 8:29 pm

    Look out Stewie

  43. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 8:29 pm

thats a crazy long backswing. are catchers just supposed to take that? its crazy that guys whack the catchers in the head and its just ‘too bad’ for them.

  44. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:29 pm

Triple – and the Giants won the WS because of pitching. More often than not, pitching will sustain you.

  45. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:29 pm

“We are still in this game as long as we can hold them at 1. Go Yanks!!”

    YES!!!!

  46. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:30 pm

they need to cork their bat to have a chance. if they are suspended then they are not allowed in the game then nothing change bec. they are not in the game anyway.

  47. Triple Short of a Cycle June 30th, 2013 at 8:30 pm

Triple – and the Giants won the WS because of pitching. More often than not, pitching will sustain you.

    ———————————

Not really true. Look at how they hit in the playoffs

  48. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:30 pm

I am sure that Cashman is hoping that next years draft is a strong one. It looks like because of his old broken down team he will have a top pick.

  49. Hassey June 30th, 2013 at 8:31 pm

No pitching staff can drag this sorry roster into the playoffs unless they pitch to a team ERA of -1

  50. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 8:31 pm

    Z man!

  51. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:31 pm

    Okay Zoilo!!!

  52. Triple Short of a Cycle June 30th, 2013 at 8:31 pm

Baltimore is 10 games over 500 with awful pitching this year. So how are they doing it if pitching holds the key to the kingdom?

  53. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:31 pm

Triple – they got there because of their pitching.

However, I don’t really feel like going through this now. Happy to do it after the game.

  54. pkyankfan69 June 30th, 2013 at 8:31 pm

I am really tired of hearing about the O’s and their fans during these games. Who cares. They finally had a good year last year so people in the area showed up. Good job finally winning some games, now make the play offs again.
    ————————–
Can you really fault O’s fans for being excited?

They have sucked since the late 90′s… If the Yankees were as bad as the O’s have been lately Yankee stadium would be empty also… Although the Yanks have been in decline for a few years now, this is the first year the decline is major and attendance is already way down (as it should be.)

If I were an O’s fan I know I would be excited.

  55. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:32 pm

Zoilo has been impressive. He doesn’t swing at bad pitches and usually hits the ball hard. Even yesterday with the bases loaded he had 2 good swings.

  56. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:32 pm

keep swinging hard and blind overbay, you may hit one without you knowing it

  57. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:33 pm

Final thing I’m going to say about this right now. Yankees could have won many games if SP didn’t crap the bed.

  58. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:34 pm

And I’m not blaming SP. It’s a statement of fact.

  59. Triple Short of a Cycle June 30th, 2013 at 8:34 pm

Triple – they got there because of their pitching.

However, I don’t really feel like going through this now. Happy to do it after the game.

    ——————————-

They were ranked 6th in offense last year and 5th in pitching so your statement is not true but we can discuss after

  60. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:35 pm

unlucky overbay, the ball eluded his bat. That should have been a HR.

  61. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:35 pm

    Yes – after.

  62. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:35 pm

Overbay looks like is 80 years old at the plate. Terrible at bat.

  63. jlyanks85 June 30th, 2013 at 8:35 pm

Can’t make the playoffs if we’re going to score 2 runs a game and CC/Andy pitch to 4 eras. It’s just not going to happen.

If the Yankees had their usual great offense we can get away with CC and Andy pitching just average. This is not the year for them to do that.

  64. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:36 pm

Trish they could have won more games if the offense scored too…

  65. Niblick June 30th, 2013 at 8:36 pm

Trisha – with a few exceptions, the whole team has crapped the bed this year.

The front office has been crapping the bed for years.

  66. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:36 pm

    Nix with warning track power

  67. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:36 pm

    :(

So it’s not like they’re not hitting the damned ball.

  68. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:36 pm

sorry nix, too big of a ballpark for you. try line drive, you will get better result

  69. jlyanks85 June 30th, 2013 at 8:37 pm

Yanks would be in 1st or closer than 5.5 out if they had a major league offense. Which they do not have at this moment.

  70. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:38 pm

Guys – talk to each other about offense, pitching, the front office, etc. I’m not trying to be rude.

This is one game I just want to watch.

I’ll discuss anything you want after the game.

  71. Shame Spencer June 30th, 2013 at 8:38 pm

    Almonte is fun to watch..

  72. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:39 pm

Good hit. Can adams start acting like he belongs here?

  73. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:39 pm

    OKAY!!!

    Keep it going guys!!!

We have a shot with Hiroki on the mound. (Falls on that sword for time #500.)

    :)

  74. chicken_stanley June 30th, 2013 at 8:39 pm

Ys – agree 100%… that is crap

  75. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:39 pm

Come on Adams. You can do it! You’re a MLr for a reason!

  76. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:40 pm

    stewie with a lucky hit.

  77. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:41 pm

    Take until 2 strikes

  78. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:41 pm

    Big at bat for Gardner

  79. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:41 pm

Adams is walking now at least….. Maybe the hits will come.

  80. Shame Spencer June 30th, 2013 at 8:41 pm

    Great AB, Adams.

  81. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:41 pm

tillman is pitching to the jersey and not the batter. now make him pay

  82. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:41 pm

    :)

Maybe for once in a long time the baseball gods will smile favorably.

  83. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:42 pm

    Dont swing

  84. Hassey June 30th, 2013 at 8:42 pm

Maybe cervy has more gap power but does anyone think his avg would be higher than Stewie?

  85. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 8:42 pm

    cmon brett! clear the bases!

  86. joecembrale June 30th, 2013 at 8:43 pm

    That pitch was wide

  87. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:43 pm

Cervelli would be higher than romine.
Stewie would be here either way.

  88. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 8:43 pm

cervy is good and having him would help stewie too.

  89. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:43 pm

It should be 3-0. Good job ump.

  90. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:44 pm

    Take

  91. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:44 pm

    Had to take

  92. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:44 pm

    Yikes.

  93. Yankee Trader June 30th, 2013 at 8:44 pm

    Need to score

  94. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:45 pm

    Yeah a run!!!

  95. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:45 pm

You want offense? I’ll give you offense!

    ;)

  96. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:45 pm

    Come on ichiro

  97. TheStraw June 30th, 2013 at 8:45 pm

See, we don’t need to hit:)

  98. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:45 pm

happy for a walk. man, I have a very low expectation.

  99. joecembrale June 30th, 2013 at 8:45 pm

    That was easy

  100. Shame Spencer June 30th, 2013 at 8:45 pm

Two out rally baby…c’mon keep the line moving…

  101. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 8:46 pm

    good AB brett!

    now make them pay!

  102. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:46 pm

I think the baseball gods are happy that someone acknowledged Arod karma.

    :D

  103. Hans Davenport June 30th, 2013 at 8:46 pm

It appears both Overbay and Hafner took weighted bats to home plate.

  104. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 8:46 pm

wanna see that ichi power now!

  105. Yankee Trader June 30th, 2013 at 8:46 pm

Time for the little offense the Yankees have to do more damage with two outs

  106. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:46 pm

    Dont swing until 2 strikes…

  107. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:46 pm

A hit here would be big….

  108. Hans Davenport June 30th, 2013 at 8:47 pm

Hope Suzuki doesn’t swing at the 1st pitch.

  109. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:47 pm

    Ugh

  110. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:47 pm

Don’t get mad if it doesn’t work.

Tillman isn’t going to get better.

  111. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:48 pm

    Awesome

  112. Yankee Trader June 30th, 2013 at 8:48 pm

    Aaaargh

  113. Triple Short of a Cycle June 30th, 2013 at 8:48 pm

    Pathetic

  114. TheStraw June 30th, 2013 at 8:48 pm

    Oh well. I’ll take it.

  115. ac1 June 30th, 2013 at 8:48 pm

Bases loaded. Teams have us right where they want us…

  116. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:48 pm

gift run, I will take it. low expectation

  117. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:49 pm

One lucky run out of all of that makes you sick. They just can’t get the big hit with guys on base.

Ichiro swing at a terrible pitch.

  118. jlyanks85 June 30th, 2013 at 8:49 pm

Is a multiple run inning even possible for this offense?

  119. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:49 pm

Ichiro comes through more often than not. Tillman got lucky.

I’d say we can capitalize on his pitching.

  120. Hassey June 30th, 2013 at 8:49 pm

I hate to be the bearer of bad new but there’s mounting scientific evidence pointing to the conclusion that Ichiro’s hot streak is over

  121. longtimefan June 30th, 2013 at 8:50 pm

Pathetic, bases loaded and the only way they score is on a walk

  122. jlyanks85 June 30th, 2013 at 8:50 pm

    jlyanks85 June 30th, 2013 at 8:49 pm
Is a multiple run inning even possible for this offense?

Nope of course not. Why does this team cease to amaze me. Pitchers need to pitch damn shutouts if we want to win games.

  123. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:50 pm

multiple run normally happens with hafner and overbay if the ball hit their bat.

  124. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:50 pm

    Good signs

    1. They got the guys on base

    2. Tillman is all over the place

    Think positive!

  125. trisha - true pinstriped blue June 30th, 2013 at 8:51 pm

“I hate to be the bearer of bad new but there’s mounting scientific evidence pointing to the conclusion that Ichiro’s hot streak is over”

Post this same thing when the game is over, and let’s discuss…

  126. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 8:51 pm

keep falling behind kuroda so they sit on your pitches

  127. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 8:51 pm

Now Kuroda just has to be perfect for another 6 innings

  128. jlyanks85 June 30th, 2013 at 8:52 pm

Hard to think positive when our offense is just cano, Gardner then bums the rest of the way.

  129. mick June 30th, 2013 at 8:52 pm

Also if I ignore him maybe he won’t understand why.
    =================================
its time for self preservation mode. this guy is looking for an easy mark.
    who cares what he understands?

  205. theREALkevin June 30th, 2013 at 9:12 pm

After what has happened with baseball and PEDs, people have a right to be suspicious about anyone. Especially a guy like Davis who has seen an incredible spike in his numbers. He may very well be clean but with baseball’s recent history with PEDs I don’t blame people for being skeptical. It’s unfortunate he would have to deal with accusations if he is in fact clean but that’s the nature of things with all the PED busts. It is what it is.

  206. Niblick June 30th, 2013 at 9:13 pm

  207. Jesus Bustero June 30th, 2013 at 9:13 pm

Davis, like Bautista before him is not using steroids but he might as well…

He’s using IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor) which is a hormone that provides anabolic effects similar to Human Growth Hormone.

    Here’s Tom Verducci…

IGF-1, like HGH, cannot be detected in the urine tests used by baseball. Under the right circumstances, it could be detected in a blood test, but the players association has not agreed to blood testing.

    Read More: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c.....z2Xkg6r3sz

MLB currently tests for HGH using a blood test but they do not test for IGF-1

    This is a convenient omission.

    Keep the HR coming.

Keep the fans in the stands.

    Puig = IGF-1

  208. Ys Guy June 30th, 2013 at 9:14 pm

which is more likely g love, that davis is juicing or that hal is tanking his own franchise because he has daddy issues (as you suggested earlier today)

its just the way baseball is now. after braun and manny and arod, you just assume that abnormally good production is suspect.

  228. Yankee Trader June 30th, 2013 at 9:21 pm

Although IGF-1 is unknown to most sports fans, for years the drug has been a mainstay in the constellation of banned performance-enhancing drugs. It has long been on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned substances list, alongside human growth hormone.

There is no widely available urine test for IGF-1, but like human growth hormone, IGF-1 can be detected in blood tests. However, until this month, Major League Baseball and its players union had not reached an agreement to conduct in-season blood testing for human grown hormone.

IGF-1 is made in response to growth hormone and is needed for growth hormone to have its effects on muscles and other tissues. Growth hormone, synthesized in the pituitary gland, travels to the liver, which then responds by producing IGF-1.

  238. Jesus Bustero June 30th, 2013 at 9:25 pm

Yankee Trader, how many players have been banned for testing positive for IGF-1 so far?

    ZERO

That NY Times article blurs the lines. MLB implemented blood tests for HGH but left out IGF-1. They made a fuss over deer antler spray with IGF-1 but that was just a decoy. Their warning about the spray was based on how it raises a detectable steroid in urine tests.

IGF-1 has slid past the microscope.

If you read the whole Times article it says that HGH raises IGF in the blood but MLB does not test for secondary effects of HGH (higher IGF), it tests directly levels of HGH. In other words, IGF-1 is ignored my friend. Verducci says IGF-1 can be detected in blood “under the right circumstances”. Who knows what those are.

    1) Normal ranges of IGF-1 are quite wide

    2) You can fast before a blood test and significantly lower IGF-1

    Sadly its probably accurate.

Davis’ swing is pure and wonderful to watch he is no fluke. He always had the raw power but now he is hitting to all fields (thus cutting down the Ks) and not trying to overswing.

Machado and Jones will eventually be a destructive 3-4 combination for the next decade or so. What i would give to have one player coming through the ranks with that ability…

  252. Captain Clutch June 30th, 2013 at 9:32 pm

The O’s are winning because of their offense.

Their starting pitching is nothing special but they score so many runs that it covers it up.

The Yanks were able to cover up some bad starting pitching the last couple of years because of the offense. But it always caught up to them in the play offs.

  253. fantasygame101 June 30th, 2013 at 9:32 pm

If there are so many users why is offense down throughout the league by a lot?

Because the IGF-1 loophole is complex and scary for players who don’t understand biology. IGF-1 use has yet to become popular knowledge amongst players. A few clubhouses have caught on (Red Sox and Cardinals).

Bottom of the ninth, tigers up 3 (I think) papa grande in for the save… long story short the yanks lose but they hit the crap out of valverde… next best thing to a yanks comeback

  365. Nick in SF June 30th, 2013 at 10:18 pm

Inevitable that they would talk about STFU-gate.

When the O’s come up they’re planning on talking about the Baltimore soft shell crab scandal, don’t worry.

And there are times when those bad calls are devastating because they can conceivably mean the difference between a W and an L for a team that is really struggling for a W.

That’s why I continually lobby for an automated home-plate mechanism.

The Yankees are void of clutch hitting and are terrible with men on base, and most of their runs still come from home runs. Even in this Baltimore band box, the Yankees can’t get the long ball against a pitching staff that is the Achilles Heel of the O’s.

If the Yankees don’t get at least 3-4 good hitters in this lineup soon, we could be 9-10 games out of first very quickly. It’s already going to be 6.5 after tonight, when it was only 3 games just a week ago.

The only way Gardner should be displaced from CF is if you have 3 outfielders that hit better than he does that all play top notch defense. And in that situation he goes to the bench.

  496. jlyanks85 June 30th, 2013 at 11:00 pm

Actually I wasn’t, just saying in general. That this yankee team is where it’s at because of the entire lineup bascually being on the DL. It’s not like we have a regular lineup out there and have this record.

I just don’t think rebuilding and becoming a 90+ loss team for the next 5 years is the right thing to do in a town where the fanbase is very impatient and wants to win more than anything.

If they stay true to form to form for next season in terms of staying under $189M it’s very likely that that team will be just as bad, if not worse than this year. From my point of view we are looking at, at least 2 more down years after this one before things really have much of an opportunity to start turning around.

  516. mick June 30th, 2013 at 11:08 pm

“Rich, you throw enough poo at the wall, some of it is bound to stick. Cashman throws poo at the wall and very little of it sticks. Even when he uses money, his track record isn’t great.”

Not all poo is created equal. Wells has sucked for a long time. Unlike Davis, he wasn’t a young, once highly regarded player who was worth taking a shot on.

So yeah, it’s time for fresh eyes.

Guys look to go first to third on Gardner where as they won’t even think about it on balls to right because of Ichiro. Top flight & elite centerfielder, really guys ???

Ichiro has a strong arm, he also can’t cover CF like Gardner can. In fact, mos OFers can’t. He has an below average arm strength wise but is generally fast to release and accurate. Ichiro has a strong and accurate arm with a slow release.

Ichiro is nicely above average in holding runners. Gardner is only slightly below average in holding runners despite the difference.

Yea and the scouting reports also say ‘Don’t hit it anywhere near CF’. Base runners advancing is a kept stat, so its not like you can magic up that he is awful at it.

Runner on 1st, single to the outfield, 29 times, runner was held to 2nd 15 times. Thrown out once. Thats actually better than his total runner held percent.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  577. great page August 10th, 2014 at 12:47 am

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

Inspect the material the bag; lining, hardware and accents are made of. Many handbags are made of different types of leather, from Lambskin, Calfskin, Goatskin and Patent Leather, but it is easy to distinguish if the leather is of a good quality or not. The lining is usually made of a satin material that has a nice shine to it and most designer handbags have the name brand name or logo on the lining. Designers almost always use leather accents, not plastic. Some purses have straps that are specially coated and seem to be artificial. However a quick look at the edge of the strap, usually near a stitched joint, should reveal a leather core.

We played La Tour in June,2013 and found the course in good condition, however, we had trouble with the signage for the holes which left us wondering around looking for the next one. This added time to our playing and made it frustrating as the day went on. The staff in the pro shop were unprofessional and/or not well educated in customer service as the two gentlemen there were rude and arrogant when we tried to get some help from them. Both turned their backs to us as we asked for help in getting around the back 9. They gave us a bad impression so we will not return again and would not recommend the course to anyone. I hope the management corrects the circumstances of the pro shop so the course doesn”t suffer more bad reviews and more loss of business.
