Gardner didn’t look quite right yesterday. Maybe something up

  3. sar515 July 4th, 2013 at 11:27 am

    Cruz, Gonzalez, Romine Sweepstakes…

    Guess total bases today.

  4. sar515 July 4th, 2013 at 11:28 am

    I go with three…(Optimism)

  5. Nick in SF July 4th, 2013 at 11:29 am

So you’ve got Cano walking three times?

  6. Rich in NJ July 4th, 2013 at 11:33 am

I hate any lineup with Wells in it.

  7. blake July 4th, 2013 at 11:33 am

Smoked a 14 lb brisket last night…..learning experience to say the least

  8. jacksquat July 4th, 2013 at 11:35 am

Wow, that may be the worst bottom 3 I’ve ever seen in a Yankees lineup (since late 70′s).

  9. sar515 July 4th, 2013 at 11:38 am

Nick…I was going with the Big 3…Cruz, Gonzalez, Romine…

  10. tomingeorgia July 4th, 2013 at 11:38 am

    blake,
All night long, right? I’ve got some ribs, homemade slaw, sweet corn and corn bread on the schedule.

  11. RhapsodyInBlue July 4th, 2013 at 11:40 am

    Your address Tom?

  12. jacksquat July 4th, 2013 at 11:42 am

3 total bases from the bottom 3 would be great.

  13. blake July 4th, 2013 at 11:43 am

    Tom,

Yea I put it on at like 5 yesterday evening…..I screwed up though and let the fire die around 1130 last night though and had to take it off and start it back….after that it got a little too hot other night I think and cooked at around 270 instead if 230. It’s done but didnt cook as one as I wanted and the interior temp got up to about 205. It looks good but probably won’t be as tender as Id have liked

  14. tomingeorgia July 4th, 2013 at 11:44 am

    Rhapsody,
East Nowhere, Georgia, but if this weather keeps on much longer, I’m moving onto an Ark.

  15. blake July 4th, 2013 at 11:44 am

Your menu sounds really good…..I wanted to do a Boston Butt but the butcher shop was out so……I’m tryin what Texans call BBQ

  16. RhapsodyInBlue July 4th, 2013 at 11:47 am

I hear you Tom, I fly fish, this is the worst spring I can ever remember, all of the streams in the NE are much too high to wade.

Spring run-off may showers are one thing.

All my flowering shrubs and bushes love it though.

Enjoy your feast, sounds pretty good.

    Now if the Yankees cooperate.

If any of you like American history, historian Michael Beschloss regularly posts incredible pictures twitter. Here’s one of Lou Gehrig at YS on 7/4/39:

My poll of whether the Yanks can win this division now stands at a surprising 11-9 in favor of the nays.
This has risen from a 2:1 margin against to almost a draw.

It’s a wonder what playing the Twins can do for one’s ego.

Johnny come lately knee jerkers anyone?

Are we just as good as our last nights game?

  19. Hankflorida July 4th, 2013 at 11:55 am

Since the Redsox will take care of the Padres today and probably win the series against the Angels and Mariners, the Yankees have a tough road to climb especially facing the O’s with a joke of lineup of Adams, Gonzalas, Stewart and even Overbay who as the summer progresses, are giving us the Marx Brother’s version of baseball.

  20. Rich in NJ July 4th, 2013 at 11:55 am

Yay, the NYY are on Rios’ no trade list!

  21. mick July 4th, 2013 at 11:56 am

Rich is that a YAY from you?

  22. bruceb July 4th, 2013 at 12:00 pm

Luis Cruz takes his kids to Disneyland…then two days’ later bats seventh in a Mickey Mouse lineup with Dumbo and Bambi behind him.

Happy 4th of July everyone…enjoy your cookouts. I have the game on DVR. SWEEP!!!

  23. Rich in NJ July 4th, 2013 at 12:01 pm

Yes, mick. I don’t want to give up anything of value for Rios.

  24. mick July 4th, 2013 at 12:03 pm

Rich- I cannot count you as a nay or YAY for the Yankee poll then.

  25. bruceb July 4th, 2013 at 12:05 pm

Happy 4th, Chad. Hope you manage a beer or two on the flight home. Sucks to be working on a day like this.

  26. mick July 4th, 2013 at 12:13 pm

The poll will close with the Yanks close enough to winning the division , or at least making a wildcard, according to LoHud experts.

This is encouraging as some who went against qualified it by saying if the regulars came back and they got another RH bat at 1st they would give it to the Yanks. I assume they will do that.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

  27. Shame Spencer July 4th, 2013 at 12:13 pm

But this is exactly the type of line up you throw out there after already winning a 4 game series.. unlike the situation in Baltimore where we put out a D line up when we were on the verge of being swept.

  28. Rich in NJ July 4th, 2013 at 12:14 pm

    What poll, mick?

  29. CountryClub July 4th, 2013 at 12:18 pm

Cervelli has a stress reaction in elbow. Return pushed back to August

  30. Locke July 4th, 2013 at 12:21 pm

Tom, drive on up to Gainesville and you join our grill out. Just remember to bring the ribs and slaw.

  31. Hankflorida July 4th, 2013 at 12:23 pm

Bruceb, like the Disney analogy better then mine with Romine, Cruz and Gonzales in the line up, the bumbling version of “The Three Stooges” baseball. If the umpire has a small strike zone with Phelps pitching, will the Yankees be seven games behind going into the weekend against the O’s?

  32. bruceb July 4th, 2013 at 12:27 pm

Bad news about Cervelli. Another example of why you can’t count on any of our “wounded warriors.” Hope Alex manages to get the ball out of the infield before they recall him. They didn’t seem too bothered whether Tex or Grandy managed to do so.

Hank, tough playing catchup when the Sox keep winning every night. Hopefully, that will change when they depart Fenway.

  33. bruceb July 4th, 2013 at 12:28 pm

Lol, Rich in NJ. Lord knows how hard Mick tried to rig the poll in favor of the Yay-sayers. Didn’t work.

  34. UpState July 4th, 2013 at 12:31 pm

    Decent target….Kevin Frandsen (Phillies).

Don’t know how much Philadelphia thinks of him.

  35. jacksquat July 4th, 2013 at 12:34 pm

Everyone should vote yes in Mick’s poll, because anything is possible. The Yankees could win the division, they could end up last. There are many possibilities.

I’m not predicting they will win the division, but I think it’s more possible than probably the majority here.

They don’t have to win the division though, they could also get a wildcard spot, only 2 games back in the loss column for that.

  36. Dumper Pumper Jr July 4th, 2013 at 12:35 pm

Funny some of you were complaining yesterday that A-GON wasn’t in lineup, now he is and it is worst lineup yesterday. Too funny

  37. Dumper Pumper Jr July 4th, 2013 at 12:35 pm

Funny some of you were complaining yesterday that A-GON wasn’t in lineup, now he is and it is worst lineup ever. Too funny

  38. jacksquat July 4th, 2013 at 12:37 pm

I wasn’t complaining yesterday about “A-Gon”, but yes the bottom 3 are very weak.

Of course that means they will go 5 for 12.

  39. bruceb July 4th, 2013 at 12:48 pm

A-Gon should have been in the lineup yesterday – always play the hot hand. Numbers 5 to 9 didn’t manage one hit between them. Awful.

It is what it is. Players have to get a day’s rest here and there. Trouble is the absence of one player makes an already depleted lineup look even weaker.

  40. Hankflorida July 4th, 2013 at 12:51 pm

Bruceb, after the All Star break, the Yankee go to Fenway then Texas. With this lineup barring any trades, do you honestly think they could even compete for a Wild Card? I think the season ends way before any of the injured powers get back.

  41. bruceb July 4th, 2013 at 12:54 pm

I didn’t think the Yanks were going to make the playoffs before the start of the season, Hank, but as a fan, I live in hope that they will make a trade or two and get better. Much can change over 162 games but beating up on a bad Twins team hasn’t done anything to change my opinion.

  42. austinmac July 4th, 2013 at 1:33 pm

Not good news with Cervelli–close to a stress fracture in the elbow. Now, does Murphy get a shot before the year is out?
