9. David Lough RF

James Shields RHP

Umpires: Angel Hernandez HP, Paul Nauert 1B, Doug Eddings 2B, Dana DeMuth 3B

TV/Radio: YES/WCBS 880

Weather: Warm, mostly cloudy, chance of rain

Home cooking: The Yankees have lost two in a row at home. They are the only team in the AL so far that hasn’t lost more than two in a row at home.

A-Rod update: While Alex Rodriguez is playing for Tampa, word has come out through the New York Daily News that he’s expected to meet Friday with MLB investigators in regard to the Biogenesis PED scandal. The report states that suspensions are coming prior the end of the season and indicates that they may be coming as early as this month. A-Rod would surely appeal if he’s hit with one.

Update, 7:15: Good start for Sabathia, 1-2-3 with two Ks.

Update, 7:23: Gardner snaps 0 for 16 with a bunt single. Ichiro singles him to third. And Cano delivers an RBI single, 1-0.

Update, 7:35: Sabathia looking sharp, 1-2-3 second with another K.

Update, 7:41: Gardner hits into 4-6-3 double play to end the inning after Stewart’s single.

Update, 7:51: Sabathia gives up a single and a walk, but he gets out of it.

Update, 8:09: Sabathia has another 1-2-3 inning, one hit and one walk allowed through four.

Update, 8:15: Shields gets a 1-2-3 inning with help from Lorenzo Cain in center, a sliding catch to rob Nunez. Shields arrived at 2-9 with a 5.31 ERA in 13 career starts in the Bronx. But this is a different lineup.

Update, 8:22: Cruz nice diving stop to complete another three-up, three-down inning for Sabathia. Ominous looking clouds in the area.

Update, 8:25: It’s raining, but they’re still playing.

Update, 8:29: The Yankees go down in order. They keep the games moving this season.

Update, 8:34: There goes the shutout. David Lough parks a 91 mph fastball by Sabathia in the second deck in right, 1-1 in the sixth.

Update, 8:41: Sabathia has given up the one run and two hits through six. The HR was the staff-worst 19th off him. Maybe we should get off Phil Hughes’ back. He has only allowed 15.

Update, 8:48: The Yankees go down weakly in the sixth, grounder to first and two strikeouts.

Update, 8:51: Another HR for Butler, off a Sabathia fastball, 2-1 Royals.

Update, 9:05: The Yankees have yet another 1-2-3 inning. They haven’t had a hit since the second, five hits in all, four in the first when they scored, 2-1 K.C. after seven.

Update, 9:11: RBI ground-rule double for Hosmer, 3-1 in the eighth.

Update, 9:15: Three runs, seven hits allowed over eight by Sabathia, hard to blame him. Tim Collins comes on to replace Shields.

Update, 9:26: Cano strikes out with Gardner on second and two outs. At least Gardner had their first hit since the second. The bar is low right now.

Update, 9:40: Yankees lose 3-1.

    Leakers should be suspended too.

    Pat

If Arod retires because he is physically unable to perform he would get all of his $ even while suspended.

The yanks would recoup the bulk of it through insurance but ARod would get every dime of it.

If he doesn’t retire then he would lose close to $20mil if mlb were to successfully suspend him for 100 games.

  4. JimK July 9th, 2013 at 7:14 pm

remember, a generous strike zone works both ways

  5. Dumper Pumper Jr July 9th, 2013 at 7:15 pm

If Arod does get suspended and also the insurance money and wbc money for Tex, Yankees will have saved about 30-35 mil this year.
Question is do they invest that by trade deadline

  6. tomingeorgia July 9th, 2013 at 7:16 pm

Nice inning, CC. Early runs, boys!

  7. Dumper Pumper Jr July 9th, 2013 at 7:16 pm

Sheilds with a CG tonight. Book it

  8. Jerkface July 9th, 2013 at 7:17 pm

    Champ,

If A-rod ‘retired medically’ then was suspended he would lose money, because ‘retiring medically’ just means he goes on the 60 day DL every year and has a doctor’s note that says the Yankees can’t terminate his contract because of it.

  9. UpState July 9th, 2013 at 7:17 pm

more importantly – what impact would it have on …..2014

  10. Rich in NJ July 9th, 2013 at 7:17 pm

There is no way that the A-Rod situation will be fully resolved this season.

  11. Shame Spencer July 9th, 2013 at 7:18 pm

    Nice Gardy.

  12. Rich in NJ July 9th, 2013 at 7:19 pm

Which is why the leaks are puzzling. At first I thought more info had leaked and they were planning to suspend them shortly after the ASB, but then it seemed like they were actually reporting that it would be ‘some time after the ASB’ which isn’t the clearest time table.

Does anyone know anything about this process? I thought the players could appeal the suspension once it was handed down and play while they were appealing..? No?

  16. Shame Spencer July 9th, 2013 at 7:22 pm

C’mon Robbie… runs early and often.

RailRiders win sixth straight, walk off against Rochester

    July 9th, 2013

A crazy ending to a crazy game today, as the RailRiders came from behind to beat Rochester, 8-7.

With two out in the ninth and the game tied, Thomas Neal blooped a single to center, then moved to second on a wild pitch by Shairon Martis. Brent Lillibridge then ripped a line drive to center that a hustling center fielder Antoan Richardson dropped as he hit the warning track. Richardson collided with the wall, and Neal scored without a throw.

Mike Zagurski got the win with 2/3 inning of scoreless relief. Bobby Wilson was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a two-run double, and Lillibridge was 3 for 4 with a homer.

The RailRiders improved to 46-46, and for the first time since they were 21-21 on May 19, they’re at the .500 mark.

    — Scranton/WB Yankees – Donnie Collins

    ==============================

Could Brent Lillibridge be far from the Bronx !!!

Has the rule changed? Permanently disabled players used to have to stay on the DL list for the balance of their contract for the insurance to be collected. If Alex was on the DL list, his salary would be suspended if he was.

  22. Shame Spencer July 9th, 2013 at 7:23 pm

    Right on cue…

    @craigcalcaterra

As @matthewpouliot argues, it’s hard to see how suspensions would be served this year. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports......hats-next/

Of course Girardi hasnt given it one thought at all… replacing Hafner… that requires Girardi to be capable of thought.

Yeah, but replace him with what?

  32. Rich in NJ July 9th, 2013 at 7:26 pm

Turkey has bigger problems, Shame. So do we (relatively speaking), but I digress…

  37. joecembrale July 9th, 2013 at 7:29 pm

Rick in San Fernando July 9th, 2013 at 7:28 pm
joecembrale, replace him with a midget. At least a midget could potentially draw walks, due to a very small strike zone.

I though that was outlawed after that Bill Veech stunt. :)

  38. pat July 9th, 2013 at 7:29 pm

MLB is claiming that since the players names are already public, they can announce the suspensions before the appeal.

Players can continue to play while they appeal the suspension

    Overbay sucks.

    You know you are doomed!

  64. comet July 9th, 2013 at 7:39 pm

According to TMZ the owner of Biogenesis has gone into hiding while still trying to sell the list. How can MLB suspend without the list? According to TMZ there are 100+ names on the list. I posted the link yesterday.

Good evening Tom, Shame and Tar.

  69. Dumper Pumper Jr July 9th, 2013 at 7:40 pm

  72. joecembrale July 9th, 2013 at 7:41 pm

I think Stewie went a little out of the running path on that one.

  73. mick July 9th, 2013 at 7:41 pm

Jeter should come back early just to drop Gardner to 9th in the order.

  74. Dumper Pumper Jr July 9th, 2013 at 7:42 pm

    And sheilds settles in.
CC gonna have to throw a no no to win, but he won’t, needs to give up his usual HR

  75. JimK July 9th, 2013 at 7:43 pm

Today’s question: Do the Yankees need a shutout tonight?

  76. mick July 9th, 2013 at 7:44 pm

    Is Tejada in his 60′s?

  77. Tar July 9th, 2013 at 7:45 pm

Shields is getting lucky. Nunez, Cruz and Gardner all just missed extra base hits.

I do realize that “sometimes” it’s better to be lucky than good.

  78. Dumper Pumper Jr July 9th, 2013 at 7:45 pm

    Here comes KC, leadoff hit

  79. comnsnse July 9th, 2013 at 7:45 pm

Very small sample but thus far Cruz is the best player we’ve had a third. His game in every area is aggressive, a better defender than Adams and a more confident hitter.

A good keeper for the future bench.

As an aside, Stewart is having a pretty good season, not much power but hitting better that Martin did last year and a good defender.

Nice back up………..come to think of it we have a lot of nice backups!

  80. Rich in NJ July 9th, 2013 at 7:46 pm

“Jeter should come back early just to drop Gardner to 9th in the order.”

Gardner was the lone bright spot of this offense in June. It’s kind unfair to dump on him now when he has an inevitable slump.

  81. Shame Spencer July 9th, 2013 at 7:46 pm

Okay I’m just gonna mute this..

NYY Girl… Do the Yankees pitchers need to shutout the Royals tonight…

IT’s disgusting what the NYY org is pawning off as acceptable fill-in’s for our pathetic aging bats.. I think they did that too make them look better when they get back, when they themselves couldn’t help this team much.. 2 players hitting .230-.250 a PED tinman hah, yeah right. Jeter is awesome and can get me too be positive, but NYY needs much more than a 40yo Jeter sadly.

Let’s be positive !! Mickey Mantle’s autograph has dropped to around $100.00.

I think cashman is right. All that we need to fill our holes is in the system already. 3rd base has been filled brilliantly. Adams was outstanding. The catching spot is epic, truly a strength. Dealing for young and Ruiz would be so silly when you have quality depth like cash has assembled. The 22k in attendance today at the stadium today will look like a rowdy full house come August.

  241. Niblick July 9th, 2013 at 9:05 pm

I come by often, but post rarely.

How does Kay discuss the pitching and our offense? The team is futile offensivEy because they lack talent. Textbook team with a lot of LOFT….lack of effing talent. The outburst last week was a total mirage. A .235 team batting average with no power is deplorable.

  245. cofuzz July 9th, 2013 at 9:06 pm

Get off after a long day at work to see we’re posied to once again stop short of putting a crooked number in the R column for the entire game.
It must be frustrating when you know you have to throw a shutout to get a W.

  246. TheStraw July 9th, 2013 at 9:06 pm

No, but two homers with a 1-0 lead is (including to the 9 hitter). Two singles or doubles and its tied at worst.

    ——————————–

So Yankee pitchers should always pitch shutouts when they only score 1 run?”

You expect your ace to be able to shut a team down every once in a while and carry the team. It seems he just isnt able to do that now. A lot of his games are like this one…well pitched but one too many mistakes.

But the offense is just non existant and of course it doesnt help.

  265. bruceb July 9th, 2013 at 9:13 pm

Sunday’s defeat was very deflating but as Girardi keeps telling us, baseball players have very short memories so that’s no excuse for what has happened (or not happened) the last two nights.

  266. Dumper Pumper Jr July 9th, 2013 at 9:14 pm

  268. Carlo July 9th, 2013 at 9:15 pm

Rich – I firmly believe a loss like that changes the entire mentality of the team. That’s a 7 game win streak with two home series against sub 500 teams on the schedule into the ASB. That loss killed momentum and I think last night and tonight are a byproduct of the malaise stemming from that loss.

Poor CC. 3 runs isn’t criminal but our pitchers must feel it is.

  272. Carlo July 9th, 2013 at 9:16 pm

Girardi has said many stupid things, I believe that quote was one of them.

  273. TheStraw July 9th, 2013 at 9:16 pm

    Carlo-

    That is ridiculous.

This season is what it is. The Yanks will contend on the fringe, if some other teams fail or some or their replacements hear up, they may have a shot at the playoffs. This is on Cash and Hal now. If they aren’t willing to make some moves, they are either writing off the season and trying to save pieces for the future, or they are simply bad at baseball decisions. I am starting to think it is the latter.

  274. Rich in NJ July 9th, 2013 at 9:16 pm

    Carlo

Maybe. But when an offense is this bad, any slight underperformance by a pitcher is going to put the team at risk.

  275. Tar July 9th, 2013 at 9:17 pm

“chances of seeing arod in the Bronx this year are zero in my book.”

Andy and Mo go out winners, Cash gets an extension…. oh wait!!!!.

  276. AndyFTM July 9th, 2013 at 9:17 pm

Cashman’s idea of a move is to launch himself head first into the deepest and darkest dumpster with a flashlight.

Maybe not score 2 runs, the bigger question is can they even produce a baserunner in the 8th/9th?

  277. Carlo July 9th, 2013 at 9:18 pm

Rich – and yes, the offense wold still be terrible beyond belief. I just think the grind/desire to go hard for the last week into the break would have generated better effort.

I’m not the biggest Girardi fan but I see how you can blame him for this year… When you have 3 good hitters and 6 garbage hitters it really doesn’t matter how you line them up… This year is part on Cashman for failing to develop major league ready talent from the farm system, and more so on ownership for trying to save money long term and cutting the budget while there are some awful deals still on the books.

Dandy, RIP where ever you are.

Reality, how could the organization have known that Jeter and Granderson would suffer double injuries, how could they have known Tex would be out all year or that Arod might never be back?

They are trying to get through the season with bandaids most of whom will not be here next year and believe me no one player trade will get this bunch into the playoffs.

Who are we to judge and what answers would anyone have as to the composition of this roster given what has transpired.

Look to 2014 and hope we actually have some MLB players in the system.

Otherwise prepare for a possible repeat of the late 60′s and the 80′s, this is no longer a 16 team sport and the organization must be rebuilt with a lot more competition.

Cashman will earn his stripes by being a successful seller at the deadline and if not should be dumped with the entire scouting staff and minor league operation.

When Thompson held the runner at 3rd would the runner have scored?

    Get us Michael Young now?

  355. bruceb July 9th, 2013 at 9:42 pm

Part of me hopes they do finish last. Ownership and the front office need a wake-up call. It ain’t going to fix itself.

  356. Carlo July 9th, 2013 at 9:42 pm

Tex had out for the season written all over him in March. That was so obvious. Arod? Really? Very foreseeable. Granderson makes a limited difference for this team. Jeter is the only one on that list that one can say “well, we couldn’t have expected that”m

  357. Hassey July 9th, 2013 at 9:42 pm

I guess this is what a bridge year looks like, but damm

  358. Tar July 9th, 2013 at 9:43 pm

How anyone can blame this on CC…..I just don’t get.

  359. J. Alfred Prufrock July 9th, 2013 at 9:43 pm

    Straw,

The Captain will be a sight for many sore eyes.

  360. Hassey July 9th, 2013 at 9:44 pm

I thought Ichiro had a good chance of scoring on that , what do you call it, a “hit? in the first

  361. Othello July 9th, 2013 at 9:44 pm

    Donny brook,

With the exception of last night not really Girardi’s fault this is on Cashman. With stadium prices so we need the best money can buy

  362. Captain Clutch July 9th, 2013 at 9:44 pm

By the time Arod and Granderson come back this team will be out of it. Of course cashman makes it seem like those guys will come back and take them to the promise land. It’s time for him to actually do something to help this team.

  363. bruceb July 9th, 2013 at 9:44 pm

And to think we let Ibanez go for Hafner.

  364. Carlo July 9th, 2013 at 9:44 pm

No pitcher is paid to hold a one run lead for 8 innings. That is just silly.

  365. blake July 9th, 2013 at 9:44 pm

CC pitched well…..nice job by him. The offense is beyond terrible…..I’ve gotten to where I just take the games and watch on fast forward when the Yankees are hitting …..I stop it when they do something old but that’s not often so I can watch the game in like 20 minutes then move on to more interesting things….

  366. Tar July 9th, 2013 at 9:44 pm

“Part of me hopes they do finish last. Ownership and the front office need a wake-up call. It ain’t going to fix itself.”

  368. J. Alfred Prufrock July 9th, 2013 at 9:45 pm

I would rather Cashman not make any kind of potentially “franchise altering” attempts.

  369. chicken_stanley July 9th, 2013 at 9:45 pm

Dude nobody can throw shut outs every game. Which is what they need a lot of nights . CC was good…..they can’t hit a lick

  373. J. Alfred Prufrock July 9th, 2013 at 9:46 pm

    blake, lol.

  374. pkyankfan69 July 9th, 2013 at 9:47 pm

On a normal Yankee team tonight is an easy win with CC going all 9 and only allowing 3 runs, not his fault at all… Unfortunately this years team blows and instead of selling at the TD and building for the future the Yanks are going to sit pat and at best get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs if they are even fortunate enough to make it in

  375. fantasygame101 July 9th, 2013 at 9:47 pm

    tar,

C.C. is not without fault. If you are a starting pitcher with this team, if you are given a lead, do not give it up or at least do not let the other team lead. C.C. is being paid to carry a 1 run lead at least to the bullpen. You can not fault the offense bec. everybody knows that it will be a struggle every night. Actually the offense did as expected for them most of the time until the lineup changes.

  376. igotid88 July 9th, 2013 at 9:47 pm

1 more game like today and Jeter and A-Rod will be here by the weekend.

  377. AndyFTM July 9th, 2013 at 9:47 pm

Did we have even 5 total games last year without one?

If you come to my restaurant and we are out of Lobster I don’t serve you bad steak. The Yankees are out of over priced lobster and servering sour ground beef that should not even be on the Yankee menu. It is disgusting to watch and makes any fan want to vomit. If teams like the Rays can win with no payroll then what is wrong with us. I will tell you. CAshman has been too busy with his girlfriends and divorce and restrainign orders to do his freaking job and you are to much of a bunch of pansy ass people to face the truth. A GM of any big co that was involved with the stupidity that Brian is would have been fired. You can NOT do your job while dealing with the personal issues he has. The end result was on display the last 2 nights. Total and complete garbage, Stay home and turn off your TV’s folks. Money talks

  381. J. Alfred Prufrock July 9th, 2013 at 9:49 pm

The go ahead was just good hitting by Butler. Man, I would love to have a guy who has pull and oppo power like him and who can hit for average to boot, to pair with Cano.

  382. igotid88 July 9th, 2013 at 9:50 pm

Normal Yankee team CC has 12 wins, Kuroda has 14, Hughes has 9 or 10.

  383. Tyler July 9th, 2013 at 9:50 pm

This lineup needs a lot of work. My biggest concern is that they just simply write this year off to injuries. They won’t have Grandy and I really don’t think Tex makes a whole lot of difference over what Overbay is bringing. Then it’s down to a 39 year old Jeter and A-Rod. They need huge changes. Maybe losing isn’t the worst thing.

  384. Hassey July 9th, 2013 at 9:50 pm

Jete wont be able to do squat

yes even 270 will be light years ahead of what we currently get form our left side

but he’s only one man and one man can’t make up for the stinking garbage that is piling up at the Stadium

nothing cosmic about his return – we just need more guys who can hit

  385. Tar July 9th, 2013 at 9:51 pm

    I’m beyond the frustration part.

For me the frustrating part was seeing the train wreck coming and not being able to do anything about it. Oh and being called negative and a hater about 20k times didn’t help either.

Yeah I’m getting past the frustration part.

Now I just want to see Jeter and Alex and Kuroda and Andy and CC and Cano and Drob and Zoo and…. just go play Yankee baseball, not this imitation crap.

  386. JimK July 9th, 2013 at 9:51 pm

    JAP-

I feel bad for Mo but it’s pretty obvious that this team doesn’t have what it takes to win a championship. Maybe they sneak into the playoffs but it would be as torturous as last year. But they are going to write this off due to injuries. I would love to get rid of Girardi but he’s going nowhere. Same with Cashman.

  393. Hassey July 9th, 2013 at 9:54 pm

maybe Girardi should be replaced by Sullenberger

  394. fantasygame101 July 9th, 2013 at 9:54 pm

  397. Dill Pickler July 9th, 2013 at 9:55 pm

Different day, same %#&* for this dumpster fire of a team. Cashman needs to poop or get off the pot — get some real, honest-to-goodness major leaguers for this lineup or come clean to the fans, start selling and wait for next year. This dumpster diving for 4A garbage players — plucking has-beens and never weres off the waiver wire and installing them in the lineup batting 4th, 5th and 6th for the New York Yankees, needs to stop. It’s pathetic and sickening.

  398. chicken_stanley July 9th, 2013 at 9:57 pm

Somebody tonight (I can’t find it) posted that the Yanks will stand pat at the trading deadline… IMO, that’s the absolute worst course of action. You have to be a buyer or a seller… you can’t, in this instance, sit on the fence. As Mr Miyagi in Karate Kid said:

Walk on road, hm? Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later “squash”

  399. Hassey July 9th, 2013 at 9:57 pm

    ////

Yep that’s obvious alright. I didn’t expect them to do anything in the postseason last year, either, once that offense faced playoff pitching, but I like winning divisions, since we collect them. They still mean something, even if you don’t have a real shot.

  401. Tyler July 9th, 2013 at 9:58 pm

The thing is that they don’t look they it will be any better next year. What does Tex exactly give? You just can’t count on Jeter/A-Rod to be their old selves. Plus, you lose Mo which will hurt the best part of this team, the ‘pen. The minor league system doesn’t have any guys who can really provide an immediate impact. All 3 outfield prospects are underachieving, catchers are far off…

  402. Carlo July 9th, 2013 at 9:58 pm

Jeter and arod need to “get their legs under them”. As we know, baseball is a very very strenuous game. Requires a ridiculous level of fitness to stand for 15 minutes, sit for 10, maybe run 90 feet twice in 3 hours, and do it all again the next day.

  403. fantasygame101 July 9th, 2013 at 9:58 pm

I believe the boos should be directed to the GM and not to the offense. It is not this players fault that they are not talented enough, they are just earning a living. The chant on the stadium should be brian s****.

  404. mick July 9th, 2013 at 9:58 pm

Hal has kept Cashman and Girardi comfortable.
George would have had something to say by now…

Use that money to fill some of the many holes on the team. That’s how the Sox got back to the top of the division so quickly.

  474. Tar July 9th, 2013 at 10:25 pm

“I would also argue that the yankees would take a “wheeler” and turn him into a brackman.”

You’re just hating on Brackman because he was in the ACC.

Seriously he should have just stuck to Basketball. He was a big kid with very little Baseball experience that could throw hard. And the Yankees were all gaga over him. That’s was a real reach.

  475. LGY July 9th, 2013 at 10:25 pm

Contenders are not really looking for backend pitchers at the deadline. Have to imagine a tram is only giving up worthwhile prospect/s if they think the starter will come in at least be their 3rd best.

Only how many contending teams would Hughes be the 3rd best starter? 1, maybe 2?

    4th best starter? 2-3?

  477. Hankflorida July 9th, 2013 at 10:25 pm

if fans do not protest an inferior product that is put on the field, then Hal will keep to his cap and nothing will change. I will give them this year because of injuries, and when Granderson gets back and maybe Boesch and Welles will share right field, the Yankees can get more home runs to bring back some power in this line up. If this surge happens, Hal has to still spend some cash, and if he sits tight, less fannies in the seats has to convince him to follow his father’s dictum that tomorrow is today.

  478. fantasygame101 July 9th, 2013 at 10:26 pm

    igotid88,

  487. igotid88 July 9th, 2013 at 10:29 pm

A lot of money will come off the books next year and they could re-sign Cano and Hughes. And have some money left over for a bat or 2.

If Kuroda doesn’t want to come back. The rotation could be CC and Hughes as the high paid pitchers. With Nova, Phelps, Pineda, Nuno, and maybe Warren battling for the last 3 spots. Like Pettitte but if he wants to come back I hope he comes back for 1 mil. If Halladay is able to pitch maybe they take a chance on him if he leaves Philly,

  494. fantasygame101 July 9th, 2013 at 10:33 pm

Some of these fantasy trades you guys are proposing are hilarious. The Dodgers aren’t trading Puig. Ethier, maybe, Kemp is damaged goods. What could the Nationals possibly have that would be worth trading Cano for. Unless they’re giving us Strasburg or Harper, were not making that deal.

    This is not fantasy baseball.

  497. J. Alfred Prufrock July 9th, 2013 at 10:34 pm

This will make the primo smile, but his countryman and Yankee catching prospect luis torrens is getting talked up quite a bit in the organization. He would be retiring due to physical injury that leaves him unable to perform at a professional level. I doubt the contracts stipulate what that means numbers wise, but the bottom line is, its in place and it gives the yankees and alex an out. 527. Rich in NJ July 9th, 2013 at 11:09 pm

No one has better lawyers than massive insurance companies. Getting them to pay off on A-Rod’s contract would not be easy, and it would likely be a protracted fight. This isn’t the NFL where a player could be one hit away from true physical dysfunction.

Everybody blames Hal and rightfully so.

But I am betting that Cashman had a say in all this.

He always hated to be known as “big budget Cashman”.

Maybe he talked Hal into thinking 189 was not only a doable idea but a preferred strategy.

He got enamored with his “dumpster diving” prowess and utilized it as his instrument for bringing the budget under 189. And when he was done nobody could say that he was all about big budgets.

Problem is life (and injuries) got in the way.

Hal relied on Cashman, and got screwed. Now he doesn’t know which way to turn.

Thats my story and I’m sticking to it.

This. Times 1000. They have a 230 million dollar payroll, and they are fielding a lineup full of garbage that nobody else in baseball even wants as AAA filler. And they’re batting cleanup for the New York Yankees. Guys who hardly had a cup of coffee in the majors and then got cut wind up starting for us and batting 6th the next day! That’s beyond pathetic. Just to highlight the mismanagement, we are on the verge of losing one of our 3 first-round draft picks because management is penny-pinching. An organization that has failed to develop talent — spectacularly failed — over the past decade + — finally gets a chance to bolster the farm system, and they fail to sign one of their first-round picks??? How do these clowns still have jobs? What have they done for the past 10 years on the drafting/development side but f*ck up, over and over and over??? To the point that we are playing Travis Ishawaka and the rotting corpse of Vernon Wells and Reid Brignac and on and on and on. Good God, someone needs to get fired. No, a lot of someones need to get fired. I really don’t understand why anyone is going to Yankee Stadium anymore and handing over money to the idiot sons of Steinbrenner, while they, in turn, are churning out a product made of smelly, rotting garbage. It’s time for the fans to revolt. We should pick a date and time, fill the stadium, and then, at the appointed time, everyone stands up and hurls their garbage onto the field and walks out, en masse. Hell, the “Yankees” (what’s left of the organization that used to be the Yankees) have been throwing garbage onto the field all year, why shouldn’t the fans repay in kind?

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Unquestionably believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people think about worries that they just do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

  565. good article August 11th, 2014 at 6:18 am

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
