TV/radio: YES/WCBS 880

Weather: Hot, humid, partly cloudy

Power outage: The Yankees have hit at least one homer in only 10 of their last 30 games. They have gone without a homer in 39 games, eight more games than all of last season.

Nova stat: Ivan Nova has the best career winning percentage of any current major league pitcher with at least 50 starts, .689 (31-14).

Update, 7:16: Two two-out singles off curveballs, but Nova escapes unscathed in the first.

Update, 7:29: The Yankees score first on a wild pitch. Ichiro was out trying to score on the play, too. Nice job of blocking the plate by George Kottaras after his wild flip home trying to get Brett Gardner.

Update, 7:35: 1-2-3 second for Nova with help from Cruz at third, excellent diving catch on a shot by Cain.

Update, 7:43: Nothing doing in the Yankees’ second, two strikeouts for Davis.

Update, 7:48: Easy inning for Nova, three up, three down again. Nothing leaves the infield.

Update, 7:53: Jeter grounded out to short in his first at-bat vs. Rochester. This is his fourth rehab game. He’s now 1 for 7 with four walks.

Update, 8:00: Cano ready for the Home Run Derby, three-run blast to left-center. He now has 21 homers and 62 RBI. 4-0 Yankees after three.

Update, 8:05: Nova has now retired 10 straight.

Update, 8:08: Jack Curry of YES among those reporting Jeter will return Friday if he doesn’t have a setback.

Update, 8:27: Nova gives up two singles and a walk with two outs in the fifth, but he gets Escobar on a shallow fly to left. 4-0 heading for the home fifth.

Update, 8:31: Jeter grounded out to short again in his second at-bat.

Update, 8:42: Nova with a perfect sixth. Jeter with a throwing error in Moosic.

Update, 8:45: Wonder what’s up with Hafner. Wells pinch hitting for him against Davis.

Update, 8:58: Overbay grand slam, his first since 2006, 8-0. J.C. Gutierrez will replace Davis here in the sixth, 8-0.

Update, 9:09: Jeter strikes out looking in his third at-bat.

Update, 9:14: Nova another great start, no runs, four hits allowed through seven. Going to be hard to not officially let him back into the rotation.

Update, 9:23: Brett Gardner out of the game for the eighth. He got hit in what looked like the right shin in the sixth. Ichiro moves to center. Alberto Gonzalez is in right.

Update, 9:34: 8-1 after eight.

Update, 9:42: Joba on for the ninth. Gardner has a bruised right leg, X-rays negative, day-to-day. Hafner is, too. He has a bruised left foot. X-rays were also negative.

Update, 9:53: Yankees win 8-1.
