major bummer either way….hopefully it’s just a precaution..

  2. Captain Clutch July 12th, 2013 at 3:33 pm

If they don’t think that Jeter’s injury is too bad maybe he will stay on the roster for now and they will check him again after the break. If he doesn’t play before the break they will have a week to work with. Hopefully it’s not bad.

If it just keeps him out a day or two, then they/we dodged a bullet.

Time to pull the plug on the rehab coach and hire ortizs shake maker.

Hopefully Cashman is going announce that Jeter now has a twitter account and will be giving his own health/status updates there.

This really does have the ominous feel of more news from a cursed season, but there’s always hope.

  7. SoS July 12th, 2013 at 3:37 pm

    Captain,
Or their doing their usual and hanging on to an injured player for a couple weeks just to dl him after. Hope for the best. Time for a big splash on deadline or a reload with younger players.

  8. RS July 12th, 2013 at 3:38 pm

It’s possible that they think this is just a week long thing so they’ll keep him on the roster through the ASB and have him back in the lineup next Friday.

“Time to pull the plug on the rehab coach and hire ortizs shake maker.”

His stealthy public relations advisor should be hired as well.

  10. Hassey July 12th, 2013 at 3:39 pm

Suzyn crying again, because now she gets to announce his return to the lineup AGAIN tomorrow!

  11. Nick in SF July 12th, 2013 at 3:39 pm

Maybe Cashman is announcing that they’re transplanting Aaron Judge’s healthy quad for Jeter’s busted one.

  12. joeman July 12th, 2013 at 3:39 pm

why didn’t they just sit Jeter until after the AS break..the NYY are handling the process of the jeter injury all wrong from the get

    Joeman-

Was glad to hear you turned a corner on your knee replacement.

Sounds like the worst of your suffering is over.

    :)

Or maybe Cashman is announce that they’ve lost Arod to the sharknado and they suddenly have a lot more financial flexibility moving forward.

  17. blake July 12th, 2013 at 3:43 pm

Cashman: Jeter has a Grade 1 quad strain. He won’t play this weekend and will rest for the All Star Break. Hoping to avoid DL.

  18. astrocityfan July 12th, 2013 at 3:44 pm

honest questio. If the quad was going to tighten up with jeter dhing, wouldnt it have also tightened up in SWB ? i know they rushed tex back but this seems like something that wouldve happened anywhere. i just cant get worked up about it.

now they need to option out a pitcher and bring up a bat. find a way to get ruiz here. no one else (of the healty players) in the entire system seem to be hitting for power. Give him a shot.

“Or maybe Cashman is announce that they’ve lost Arod to the sharknado and they suddenly have a lot more financial flexibility moving forward.”

it would take a mega sharknado to eat his contract

  20. Rich in NJ July 12th, 2013 at 3:44 pm

Sharknado has seemingly permeated almost every aspect of popular culture.

But for Shame, I would be like “Wha…?”

    Thanks, Shame. ;)

  23. chicken_stanley July 12th, 2013 at 3:48 pm

Waiting in ATL for a plane that may or may not ever take off… I’m looking for a solid offensive game tonight – no reason other than a gut feeling

  24. joeman July 12th, 2013 at 3:48 pm

I for one thought that Jeter should have sat out the whole season

  25. GregD July 12th, 2013 at 4:00 pm

I don’t think everytime something bad happens, that there is someone to blame…….

Cashman: Derek had a Grade 1 quad sprain; won;t play through weekend, will be evaluated during ASB

  27. Hankflorida July 12th, 2013 at 4:01 pm

No, I just meant that I need to brush up on my Albee if I want to understand what some of the more literate commenters are talking about!

Nick, you and I understood Alfred’s “Virginia Woolf” analogy, and with the “Zoo Story,” I was trying to bring the point up that even with some of the name calling that goes on in this blog, most of us are trying to communicate our ideas with each other. In other words, confrontation is better then silence in trying to understand one another and in the end, agree to disagree.

  28. Zach S July 12th, 2013 at 4:02 pm

Man that sucks for Jeter. Hopefully it gets better during then.

  29. comnsnse July 12th, 2013 at 4:11 pm

Hank, profound. Sounds like Congress! ;)

Nicky, I asked you an important question on the previous thread, awaiting your response.

    Actually two questions!

  30. GregD July 12th, 2013 at 4:13 pm

going to the movies to see an early show and then back to watch the game and eat pizza……later to all

  31. comnsnse July 12th, 2013 at 4:14 pm

Hank, I sometimes fell that anal o’geez are more easily understood by some. ;)

    What say you?
