Derek Jeter and Brent Lillibridge are not listed on the Yankees lineup card. David Adams is. Certainly suggests Jeter is heading back to the DL.

Brent Gardner CF
Alfonso Soriano DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Vernon Wells 1B
Curtis Granderson LF
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Eduardo Nunez SS
Chris Stewart C

Not a complaint because we need the offense, but our infield defense could be horrrrrrible, minus cano.

  2. mnmboys August 5th, 2013 at 5:21 pm

    Romine not starting again…..

    @YESNetwork: Tonight’s lineup (7p on YES): Gardner 8, Soriano DH, Cano 4, A-Rod 5, Wells 3, Granderson 7, Ichicro 9, Nunez 6, Stewart 2, Pettitte 1
    ——————

    What a stupid @ss lineup.
    ——————————————-
Is there nothing without this complaining.
What is the problem with the line-up?

  4. ac1 August 5th, 2013 at 5:23 pm

Mnm hopefully its just because of pettitte.
Romine should be catching 3-4 of the 5 starters.

  5. Ys Guy August 5th, 2013 at 5:24 pm

yankees win, arod strikes out 4x and leaves complaining about his quad.

that would be a nice outcome tonight

  6. Warning Track Power August 5th, 2013 at 5:24 pm

Interesting if ARod is activated and Jeter does to DL to make room.
    WOW!!!

  7. fantasygame101 August 5th, 2013 at 5:25 pm

Vernon wells, 2014 backup corner infielder and outfielder.

  8. Mordot11 August 5th, 2013 at 5:25 pm

Romine homers, needs a day off. More at 11. Also, the best case scenario for the Yankees in my opinion is that Alex actually helps the team win. Maybe I’m in the minority, but as long as they’re paying the guy I hope he plays well.

Is it possible that Andy has communicated to Girardi
that he prefers to throw to Stewart and not Romine?
If yes, then I think Andy deserves to throw to the receiver
    he feels most comfortable with.

Or maybe Romine woke up with a crink in his neck today. We never know.

  10. MTU August 5th, 2013 at 5:26 pm

A-rod’s performance, or lack thereof, is going to decide how he gets treated from here on out.

He should let his bat do the talking one way or the other.

His mouth should remain zipped shut the whole time.

    ;)

  11. J.R. NYY August 5th, 2013 at 5:26 pm

I’m growing increasingly frustrated with Joe’s lack of faith in Romine. it is unwarranted, and beyond asinine the kid is hitting like .350 since like June while Stewart is hitting .150 (not sure the exact numbers), Andy has pitched in this league for a long time you’re telling me he is incapable of pitching to Romine. it’s an embarrassment, and truly ticks me off.

  12. Ys Guy August 5th, 2013 at 5:27 pm

    before you start….

…no im not wishing an injury to arod. i think he just made up the quad thing when he didnt want to go to buffalo or when he didnt feel like playing 3b in his rehab. so im saying that if he strikes out 4x he might fall back to ‘oh my quad’ to get out of the game and avoid further embarrasment.

  13. ac1 August 5th, 2013 at 5:27 pm

Part of me wishes the yanks would just fall out of the race so they can decide to shut down jeter and cc to have them back in form next year, as well as let the younger guys play everyday no matter what. Musty at 3b, adams at 1b, get mesa more playing time, move wells and soriano to sharing dh, romine, etc…..

Mainly though because i think jeter and cc both need to shut down until 14.

He plays once a week tops and this isnt new…

    Nah
C.C. needs to accept that he is no longer a power pitcher. If Moose can win 20 games
with a FB that tops out around 88, then C.C. can.
The difference is right now C.C. still has the mindset that he is a power pitcher. Which is
    obviously the wrong approach.

  17. UnKnown August 5th, 2013 at 5:31 pm

AL the stage is yours buddy. Probably for the last time you get a chance to carry this club. Go Get’em!!

  18. MTU August 5th, 2013 at 5:32 pm

It should be interesting to see if A-rod has anything left in that bat of his.

I could care less about his defense. He can always be DH’ed, or replaced later in a game.

His sole value as far as I’m concerned lies in how much right-handed thunder he can still provide.

If he can’t drive in runs he’s about as valuable as a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest.

  19. joeman August 5th, 2013 at 5:32 pm

at this point I really don’t think it matters what Arod does on the field good or bad most NYY fans are done (or should be) with this guy..

  20. Ys Guy August 5th, 2013 at 5:33 pm

it would be just like arod to go 4/4 in august after going 3/27 last october…

  21. ac1 August 5th, 2013 at 5:34 pm

  24. Ys Guy August 5th, 2013 at 5:35 pm

I think this is the issue. Partly the sirgery, partly the overuse, partly the weightloss. Bcause i think part of it is how many innings he has under him, he can use the two extra months off.

wtp, one thing about that ‘changing lanes’ thing…i always hated arod. not that thats some badge of courage or something, just my feelings over the years.

but when he was with the yankees, i TRIED to like him, i TRIED to root for him.

i was totally against re-signing him, but i TRIED to get over it and like him and root for him because he was a yankee.

so it may have seemed at times like i was ‘switching lanes’.

its not a bad thing to try to get over your dislike and embrace a player on your team, imo.

You can piss on him if you like just so long as he helps us win.

I want him to be productive for the sake of the Team. Not particularly for A-Rod’s sake.

It does us no good if he sucks because he’ll just be making outs when we need hits.

And you don’t have to root for him. Or cheer for him.

He’s here for now. Might as well get some production from him.

He is not going to escape his penalty when the process is finished.

That’s for the Arbitrator. Not us.

Exactly what I cannot say but he will not walk away unscathed.

It’s gonna bite. Maybe you think it should be more but that’s not for us to say.

  46. Chambliss August 5th, 2013 at 5:47 pm

The Yankees have a 4.9% chance of making the playoffs:

    http://www.baseballprospectus.com/odds/

Tampa is a lock to win the first wildcard spot, assuming that they don’t win the division in which case Boston will win the first spot.

That means that Yankees will have to overtake Cleveland, Texas, Baltimore and Kansas City to win the second wildcard. Catching K.C. shouldn’t be too tough, but the other three? Ain’t gonna happen.

It is time to give the young guys a chance. Wells at first is silly.

Understood. I totally respect your decision and would never
attempt to sway you one bit.

I am pro ARod and look forward to supporting him when he takes the field
    in a Yankee uniform.

Do you think the criticism towards ARod would be as intense if he
was making only $13 million per year, instead of the $25 million he is due to make this year?

I wonder if all the money he has made and is schedule to make has turned a lot
of detractors against him out of envy and jealousy?

  50. Captain Clutch August 5th, 2013 at 5:48 pm

Suzyn is on the radio now and she said that Jeter is going back on the DL. Poor Jeter.

  51. RayVT August 5th, 2013 at 5:49 pm

It is amusing that so many here are personally offended by ARod & PEDs. While I support your choices to feel that way & I can even embrace it the levity here seems overwhleming.

ARod is playing tonight because the MLB Rules allow it. All the others that were suspended have played while their cases were decided up until last night. Their fans cheered their PED users on & look forward to having them back even. Cruz didn’t fight the suspension because he can play in the Playoffs for Texas this year if he didn’t appeal it.

Let’s just enjoy the game. the next 50 or so games that ARod plays aren’t going to affect much MLB history. You don’t have to cheer him or boo him, just sit back & enjoy the moment. Enjoy Bud griting his teeth. Enjoy Cash-No-Money saying ST_U. It is a game, one we all love, but this isn’t its worse moment yet & probably won’t be either.

ARod can’t truly appologize to the Yankees or confess right now. He is attempting it appears to make Bud be fair not only to him but to whoever is the next case for Bud or his replacements.

  52. Yankee Trader August 5th, 2013 at 5:49 pm

What happens if it takes a month to resolve the ban with an arbitrator, and the result is not overturned. Do these 30 or more games get tacked on that he played in, on the end, now going forward into 2015?

  53. Ys Guy August 5th, 2013 at 5:49 pm

…so theoretically arod could come out for this presser, whip out a syringe and shoot himself up in front of the press, then give the syringe to an mlb official to confirm it’s hgh, then go out and play tonight.

i mean, he’s never been suspended for ped’s so even if they suspend him tonight, he still gets to play pending his appeal, right?

Until the chance is 0%, then you try to win the games and slowly but surely pass
the teams that are ahead of them.
No reason for the team or Girardi do give up now.
    That would be silly.
Since you might be accepting the season is over, well that does not mean you are correct.
Matter of fact, the numbers say you are in fact wrong about that assumption.

  55. Captain Clutch August 5th, 2013 at 5:50 pm

If the Yanks were in 1 st place I can understand Stewart catching everyday because Girardi trusts him. But considering where the team is and how bad Stewart is it’s insane that he continues to catch everyday. His organization never thinks about the future and what is best moving forward.

A-Rod is not the Yankees just because he wears the uniform.

Anymore than a deserter wearing a uniform represents the entire military.

    He’s one individual.

I bet if the Yankees had their choice he would have been long gone.

But it doesn’t work that way.

There’s a process and set of rules to be followed for all.

It protects the innocent even though it may occasionally shield the guilty.

It’s worth it because of the greater good. The other option is chaos.

    Do you prefer that ?

I like the Wells at 1B. Wells is quite an athlete & he has some infield work prior to MLB. He is not a clumsy guy & he can handle the footwork & it fills a need of a RH 1B to alternate with Overbay. I like this. This is an All-Hands-On-Deck situation with the Yankees.

Get Wells out of there!! Overbay has done a great job and has come through in the clutch. Wells has struggled even in left. Get rid of him altogether. Along with A-rod.
