TIME/TV: 7:05 p.m., MY9

WEATHER: As I said earlier, this is a good day to play two.

UMPIRES: HP Alfonso Marquez, 1B Ted Barrett, 2B Mike DiMuro, 3B Adam Hamari

UPDATE, 7:18 p.m.: Single, stolen base, runner advancing grounder and a wild pitch. That’s enough for an early Blue Jays lead. Yankees going to have to come from behind twice today.

UPDATE, 7:30 p.m.: In this role, playing against lefties, Vernon Wells is looking really useful again. Could play that role again next year — basically for free — and legitimately help this team.

UPDATE, 8:12 p.m.: Yankees are getting some offensive help from their catchers today. Stewart’s home run stands as the game-winner in Game 1, and now Romine’s single has setup the tying run in Game 2. It’s 1-1 in the top of the fourth.

UPDATE, 8:31 p.m.: Triple off Hughes leads to another run. That’s the Blue Jays first extra-base hit of the day, but it’s enough for a 2-1 lead in the middle of the fifth.

UPDATE, 8:51 p.m.: Hughes is through six innings with two runs. He’s allowed a bunch of singles but kept the ball in the park and generally limited the damage. He’s been good enough to win. Needs some offense.

UPDATE, 9:21 p.m.: I actually called a home run this inning, but I said it would be Reynolds. Instead, it’s Nix with the go-ahead solo shot. And now it’s Romine with his third hit of the day.
