TIME/TV: 7:10 p.m., YES Network

WEATHER: Another night under the roof.

UMPIRES: HP Jerry Meals, 1B Chris Conroy, 2B Will Little, 3B Gary Darling

A BAD SIGN: CC Sabathia has won only four of 22 starts against the Rays since joining the Yankees. He’s 4-11 with a 4.47 ERA in those starts. Before joining the Yankees, he was 7-1 with a 2.44 ERA in 11 career starts against Tampa Bay.

AGAINST A LEFTY: Curtis Granderson is in the lineup against the lefty Price. On Thursday he hit his first home run off a left-handed pitcher this season. Since the start of 2011, he’s hit 31 homers against left-handers, the most in the big leagues.

BUT HE HAS POWER: Mark Reynolds is only 4-for-24 in his career against Price — that’s a .167 average — but he’s slugged .542 against Price because three of those hits have been home runs.

UPDATE, 7:35 p.m.: Double gets past Rodriguez in the first, then a strikeout in the second. Rough start for him.

UPDATE, 8:04 p.m.: Nice play by Sabathia to get out of the third inning with the game still scoreless. He’s allowed two base runners. He’s shown some big fastballs tonight too.

UPDATE, 8:23 p.m.: Vintage Sabathia so far tonight. Just went through the middle of the order, making Myers look bad on a slider, then getting Rodriguez looking at a slider.

UPDATE, 8:34 p.m.: Huge at-bat for Romine here with one out and the bases loaded in the fifth.

UPDATE, 8:40 p.m.: That’s an awfully good at-bat by Romine. Got the bases-loaded walk after fighting through nine pitches and fouling off three in a row. Ball three looked like a pretty good pitch to me, but Romine got the call and worked the at-bat perfectly. Yankees up 1-0 and Price is over 80 pitches.

UPDATE, 8:43 p.m.: And now Romine avoids the tag, slides in ahead of the double play and lets another run score. Awful good sequence for Romine in this inning. He’s done a huge part in getting the Yankees in front 2-0.

UPDATE, 9:12 p.m.: Bloop single and walk set the stage, and Zobrist made Sabathia pay with a two-run double to center field. Only the third hit allowed by Sabathia, but it pulls the Rays even at 2-2.

UPDATE, 9:21 p.m.: Sabathia looked cooked after those back-to-back hard-hit balls, but he came back with a couple of huge strikeouts to help him get out of the inning with the three runs. It’s a 3-2 Rays lead after six.
