Alex Rodriguez, Andy Pettitte

Alex Rodriguez isn’t the most popular player in Major League Baseball, but he might not be universally despised either. Yesterday ESPN The Magazine released the results of a player poll done in the wake of Ryan Dempster hitting Rodriguez with a fastball a little more than a week ago. Dempster’s action was seen as an intentional attempt to pass judgment on Rodriguez’s suspension and ongoing appeal, but the majority of pitchers who answered ESPN’s questions seemed to side more with Rodriguez.

The whole poll can be found right here. A few responses that stand out:

Do you want to bean Alex Rodriguez?
Yes: 0 percent
No: 100 percent
(35 responses)

Should A-Rod be able to play during the appeal process?

Yes: 83.3 percent
No: 16.7 percent
(36 responses)

How long (in games) do you think A-Rod should be suspended for?
Top answers:
100 games: 36 percent
211 games: 20 percent
75 games/lifetime ban: 16 percent each
(25 responses)
