AWARD-WINNING EFFORT: The Yankees have defeated 2012 NL Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey twice this season — both at Yankee Stadium — with Dickey being credited with the loss on both occasions. This marks the second straight year the Yankees have won multiple games started by a reigning Cy Young winner (they beat the Tigers twice in 2012 in games started by Justin Verlander). This marks the first time the Yankees have given two losses to a reigning Cy Young Award since Barry Zito went 1-2 against the Yankees in 2003.

With LHP Mike Zagurski making his Yankees debut on Sunday, the Yankees have now used a franchise-record 56 players in 2013 (23-P, 4-C, 18-INF, 10-OF, 1-DH), surpassing their previous high of 51 players in 2005 and ‘08. According to Elias, the Yankees are tied with the Chicago Cubs for the highest number of players used this season. The Yankees have used 33 position players this season, marking the most used by a Major League team since the 2004 Royals also used 33.

SIX AND SIX: The Yankees had played 17 days in a row before yesterday’s off day. They’ll next play six straight, take another off day, then play another six in a row before the end of the season.
