Yankees plan for the weekend: Wait for Joe

Joe Girardi

Major League Baseball has four playoff games going on today, but it’s Alex Rodriguez who stole the show. That’ll happen when one of the game’s most high-profile players sues the league, then sues his own team’s physician. At least the summer of A-Rod craziness somewhat prepared us for this sort of day.

But if you’re looking for news that might have a more immediate resolution, there’s this tidbit: The Yankees have made an offer to Joe Girardi, attempting to bring him back as the team’s manager. The news has been obviously overshadowed, but a source told me earlier today — and by the looks of Twitter, a few others heard the same — that an offer is on the table.

Now it’s time to wait.

It’s Girardi’s move. I wonder what the binder says about contract offers.
