After another wild finish, the wait continues

APTOPIX World Series Red Sox Cardinals Baseball

The World Series groundhog saw its shadow last night.

That game-ending pickoff brought another unusual finish and gave the Red Sox a much-needed victory.

Instead of the Cardinals winning their third game in a row — putting them on the verge of winning the series — the Red Sox pulled even, meaning no winner will emerge tonight. And because the opening of free agency is based on the end of the World Series, last night’s wild finish means these days of waiting will continue at least two more days. The World Series won’t end before Wednesday, which means players won’t be free to sign with other teams until next Tuesday at the earliest.

It’s been four weeks since the Yankees season ended. Going to have to wait a little longer for any significant offseason action to begin.

I guess you can blame the Red Sox for that.
