Still waiting for the guest of honor to walk into the press conference room here at Yankee Stadium. Scott Boras is here. So is Hal Steinbrenner.

UPDATE, 11:08 a.m.: Here we go. The key parties are seated and we’re about get started.

UPDATE, 11:10 a.m.: Media relations director says the Ellsbury signing is, “Just one more reason for Yankees fans to look past this cold weather.” Not working for me. It’s cold after five days in Orlando.

UPDATE, 11:14 a.m.: Girardi references the time Ellsbury stole home against Andy Pettitte. “You no longer are a thorn in my side.”

UPDATE, 11:15 a.m.:
Ellsbury is going to wear No. 22.

UPDATE, 11:22 a.m.: Ellsbury said he reached out to some of the current Yankees to ask about what it’s like to play here and obviously got positive feedback. Said he didn’t reach out to any of the guys who have made the lead from the Red Sox to the Yankees.

UPDATE, 11:23 a.m.: The press conference has ended. Time for the breakout interview stuff. I’ll have much more later on.
