Tarp on the field, inevitable rain delay in the works

Doesn’t look like this game is going to start on time. The tarp just came on the field, and a grounds crew in festive green shirts is putting down sandbags as if expecting a hurricane. Three quick notes while we await word about a possible first pitch time.

1. Really nice story by my good friend Dan Barbarisi, who takes a look inside the small town where Mariano Rivera grew up.

2. The Astros have announced that Scott Feldman will be their Opening Day starter. That’s who the Yankees will face in Game 1.

3. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone. Up top is the late, great Mic Christopher, a tremendous Irish songwriter who happened to be born in the Bronx.
