Warren gets the start tonight vs. Philadelphia

WarrenToday lined up as a David Phelps start, and the fact he’s not making it seems to be further indication that Phelps is moving into the bullpen. So why start Adam Warren? To keep him stretched out as the long man? Maybe. Probably find out in just a few minutes.

Brett Gardner LF
Derek Jeter SS
Carlos Beltran DH
Mark Teixeira 1B
Brian McCann C
Alfonso Soriano RF
Kelly Johnson 3B
Brian Roberts 2B
Ichiro Suzuki CF

I still think that Warren and/or Nuno should be in AAA starting. Hopefully Warren starting tonight is an indication that will happen.

“Dean Anna is a better option at SS than Nunez”

Mary Anna is a better option at SS than Nunez.
    ===========================

Mary, the good and nimble fairy of Nottingham Forest, is a better option at SS than Nunez.

@M_Marakovits: Michael Pineda will be the Yankees 5th starter #Yankees

Another fake 5th starter competition in the books

Again this was never a competition as much as a trial period to see if Pineda was healthy…..he is so he’s the 5th starter.

    Maybe, but he deserved it.

Congrats to Pineda. Looks like we won the trade after all!

So our rotation IS now the “A” team!

Honestly, that’s what it should have been.

I like Phelps but the fact is that there’s no competition between him and a healthy Pineda.

If you have a problem; if nobody else will help; and if you can find them; maybe you can hire…..

He pitched well…..Id say based on track record and the spring though if it were an unbiased real competiton then phelps is more deserving of the spot…..he pitched well also and he’s paid his dues. But life ain’t fair and Pineda is the upside guy so it’s the right decision

    ummmmmm

Pineda has no innings limitation this season according to Girardi.

  13. blake March 25th, 2014 at 4:14 pm

    I don’t buy that for a second…..

Pineda has thrown 170+ innings in a season, and may be as healthy as he’s going to get. But I’d imagine they will still be somewhat careful with him.
